Bericht des Präsidenten
Nach unserer Ferienreise nach Amerika und Europa um
unsere Kinder und Familien zu besuchen, freuten wir uns
auf schönes Sommerwetter, jedoch in Seattle und Ireland
war es wie bei uns im Winter mit ausgiebigen
Regenfällen. Die Schweiz war etwas besser, jedoch der Sommer war verspätet.
Man hofft ja immer, nächstesmal wird es besser werden.
Die zwei Sonntagkonzerte mit dem Mandolin Orchester und dem Heimat Chor
waren gut besucht und ein voller Erfolg. An der Klubgründungstagfeier werden
wir wieder ein Abendessen servieren, für die Mitglieder mit gültiger
Mitgliederkarte $ 10.00 und Gäste $ 35.00. Machen sie davon regen Gebrauch.
Karten sind nur im Vorverkauf im Büro und bei Mae erhaltlich.
Die Arbeiten der neuen Klimaanlage für die Edelweisshalle werden demnächst
vergeben, so dass bis anfangs September die alte Anlage ersetzt ist. Das Büro
hat nun eine neue Telephonanlage erhalten, da die bestehende nicht mehr
repariert werden konnte.
Bitte unterstützen Sie uns und besuchen Sie den Klub wenn immer möglich,
denn nur mit ihrer Hilfe and aktiver Teilnahme können wir den Klub erhalten.
Unser Klub bietet Ihnen die Möglichkeit, kleinere und grössere Familien und
Freundschaftsfeiern mit Unterhaltung zu verbinden oder in den Privaträumen
des Klubs zu feiern. Vergessen Sie nicht, jedes Mitglied kann 5 Gäste
mitbringen.

Our visit to our children and
family members in America
and Switzerland has come to an end. Unfortunately the
weather was not the best and the expected summer time
was more like winter in Australia. We had plenty time to relax
and take it easy. Now life has returned to normal after all
the travelling and we are catching up with the work in the
Club.
Our Sunday afternoon concerts have been very successful and especially our
older members supported them. Some of them will not leave their houses during
the evening, so it gives them another opportunity to attend some of our club
functions. The WAMO mandolin concert and the Heimat Choir „Wine, Women &
Song“ concert afternoon was well attended and enjoyed by all present.
On Saturday, 22nd September we will be celebrating our Club ‘s Anniversary
with a 3 course dinner. Please note the starting time is 7pm. Members once
again pay only $10.00 with presentation of a valid 2012-13 membership card.
Guests $35.00. The full cost of the evening will be close to $40.00 for the club.
Tickets are available only in advance at the office or with Mae. Booking closes
on Monday 17th September. Come and make use of this special offer!

MODEL RAILWAY GROUP
Meeting Fridays -1900/700pm
A request has been made to write the history of the Rhein-Donau
Model Railway Group.
Unfortunately there are few written items to be found,
mainly because the person responsible for the coming
into being (about 2000) of this club, Heinz Runge,
wanted everything to be dealt with in an informal
manner. Perhaps the best way to start the story is by
selecting modified excerpts from the “Vale Heinz Runge”
written by our member Niels Kroyer:
Heinz Runge – 69, passed peacefully away in his sleep
on the 14 th May, 2005.
Heinz first tried to establish a European group within
AMRA WA but felt somewhat restricted (by the
constraints that AMRA placed - RdG) to what he
envisioned a European railway should be. With his
tireless energy he found a large unutilised room at the
Rhein-Donau Club. Heinz set out to establish the Rhein
-Donau Model Railway Group (R-DMRG) which today
comprises of some 25 members.
Heinz was the driving force in designing the Group’s layout in detail for
members to run Märklin (AC – third rail) and DC trains.

First my thanks to everyone who
came to enjoy the YOGA group’s
dance.

Committee for their friendly support.
All members of the Yoga Group
made an effort to make the evening
a happy night. “Thank you to
all the Girls”.
Now we are back on Tuesdays at
6:45pm to practise “Yoga”. Thank
you for attending even on these
very cold nights.

Nach den interessanten Ferien in

den Senioren.

Hi Everyone,
Firstly a very important notice- the
date of the Alpengaudi has been
changed from August 18 th to September
8 th . Please mark your calendars
accordingly.
This will be a very significant celebration
because it marks the 50th
anniversary of the founding of the
dance group. We are hoping that all
past and present members will attend.
We have a fairly comprehensive
list of “old” members, however,
if you are a past member, please
contact us with your current details.
We are very keen to have as many
past dancers and supporters of the
group there to help us celebrate.
As such, we urge others to book
their seats early to avoid disappointment.
This will be a special
evening filled with great entertainment
and much merriment. Do
come and join us!

Hello shooters,
We have just had a lovely Sunday
luncheon in the club to celebrate 43
years of the Rifle Group. It was
lovely to catch up with Mrs Tonkin
who attended. Mrs Tonkin was
very pleased to see that the group
is still going strong and was happy
to see new faces amongst us.
I have still not received the results
from our shoot with Arbergen to see
if we beat them this time.
Now we have to prepare for the Oktoberfest.
We need all the help we
can get.

HEIMAT CHOIR
CHESS GROUP
Our performances for WINE,
WOMAN & SONG were a great
success.
Saturday night, the 30 th .June,
gave everyone a foretaste of the
musical repertoire which followed
on Sunday 8 th July. It was a concert
of great talent and variety. The
Dutch Singers sang a wonderful
selection of songs, the Trio excelled
in their selection and the combined
choir enjoyed their presentation of
songs of Vienna, the Rhine River
and numerous waltzes.
This concert was repeated at the
Neerlandia Club in Wembley the
following Sunday the 15 th July to a
‘full house’.

I would like to thank ‘The Dutch
Singers’ and their conductor Matty
Mentz, the Trio Glenn and Susan
Rogers and Anne, Dorothea
Slawomirski and Hazel Potts our
pianists , Ron Wilson the MC and
all who made these performances
such a success. The singing was
wonderful and all the never-ending
practises were worthwhile.

Mandolin Orchestra Group Report
As many of you will know WAMO performed
their winter concert on June
24 th in the Edelweiss Room to a capacity
audience. There were a couple
of items of special interest in the program
including some performances of
small ensemble groups made up of
players from within the orchestra. This
small group sound was replaced with
the first complete performance of Suite
in D by the Youth Mandolin Orchestra
who acquitted themselves very well
indeed. This piece is to be repeated at
the opening concert of our Mandolin
Festival on July 8 th . The most popular
piece was undoubtedly the ‘Song of
the Japanese Autumn’ by Yasuo Kuwahara.
This very evocative piece
caught the attention of all the audience
who responded with tumultuous applause.
All WAMO players are now committed
to enjoying themselves for
a week- long Festival at Trinity
College in Nedlands where they
will prepare an exciting program
for the Festival Concert on July
14 th at John Curtin Theatre. More
on this spectacle in the next edition.
In the meantime we are programming
another RDC concert for
early November so watch this
space.

the last few weeks, except for one
week when eight members came,
we have had good attendance.

Recently John Drombose and I
entered into competition at the W.A.
Centre where John won Gold,

Silver.
Nest month State Titles will be held.
