Our clientele are teens, adults, families, and special populations, such as pregnant women, mothers, clients with co-occuring disorders, clients with HIV and AIDS, and clients involved with the criminal justice system. Our programs provide opportunities for individual and group counseling in prevention, outpatient, and residential treatment settings. Internship opportunities change frequently. Site interviews interns at any time during the calendar year, and can offer some evening and weekend hours, when space allows. *Will accept students in the Fall *Requirements of the agency include an initial interview with Kay Rankin, thorough background checks, a TB test, and the ADS Confidentiality/HIPAA/Human Rights Training. A, B, C (co-occurring disorders), F, G, H - Fairfax Falls Church Community Services Board (Centers located in Alexandria, Springfield, Reston, Chantilly, Mt. Vernon and Annandale) The program is an eight month placement beginning in September, lasting through April; there are no exceptions. The program is a minimum of 20 hours/week. Each student is required to attend a Thursday morning seminar, a weekly treatment team meeting, and weekly one hour direct supervision. The remainder of the student’s time is spent in direct service, such as individual or group therapy, case management, or phone consultation. Each student is expected to work some evening hours to maximize accessibility to clients, but actual schedules are negotiated between the student and his/her supervisor. There are no weekend hours. Student trainees are permitted a two week absence, usually in December/January. Prefer students who have completed 50% of their graduate work or have relevant work experience. Supervised by LCSW and LPC. Orientation: The first two weeks of training in September are devoted to orientation. Student trainees fulfill mandatory Fairfax County obligations, including human rights and confidentiality training, FBI and State background checks, child protective services registry search, and TB test (PPD). Each student meets with his/her supervisor to determine a schedule and set training goals. The community service board offers services such including: adult, youth and family, older adult, multicultural, victim’s assistance program, emergency services, adult partial hospitalization, homeless services, PACT program, anger management program (ADAPT), outpatient treatment, and residential services. 11
