Introduction

This report has been written to introduce you to the concepts of astrology and how to get started with a child's natal
chart. Astrology is a complex and meaningful science which takes years to study and apply successfully; however,
we would like to whet your appetite with this report, and encourage you to deepen your understanding through
other means.
Astrology is a study of the connection between planets and life on Earth. It is based on a concept that energy
patterns form between other planets and Earth and that these energies affect our lives as individuals and
communities.
An astrological chart, also known as a horoscope, natal chart, or birth chart, records the relationship between the
planets and the signs of the Zodiac. Charts can be calculated for the birth of a person, a community, an event or
anything that seems momentous. The horoscope is as individual and unique as a fingerprint.
The aim of this report is to act as a guide for parents and mentors of children. All parents want the best for their
children. We want our children to live happy and fulfilled lives. All mentors and teachers would like to see children
reach their full potential. This can be achieved by recognising and accepting each child's individual gifts and
weaknesses. In accepting these traits, we can help our children overcome obstacles and provide them with as many

become violent. He needs to ensure that young Suri is kept safe, away from emotional, verbal and physical abuse. In
other words Suri's father needs to provide a safe environment in which he and Suri can both assert their own wills
and gain greater understanding of themselves and each other. If this is not achieved then young Suri loses a sense of
her own identity and cowers in the face of adversity. She eventually rebels, probably in her teenage years. However,
if Suri's father can allow her the freedom to develop her own powerful personality then young Suri is likely to
develop great personal power, the ability to lead others and to achieve her own goals.
The theme of death can also play an important role under this influence. Young Suri is both more sensitive to the
grief process and also more able to grow in strength through this process, be it the death of a family member or the
death of a pet.
Saturn is Square The Sun
Suri's relationship with her father plays an integral role in her life, probably from the moment of birth. It is even
possible that young Suri has been named after her father or the father's family's name, or a close friend of her father,
or that her father chose her name. Hence the bond starts at birth. This bond can be a positive one in the long term;

however, it is possible that Suri's father is initially somewhat strict or oppressive. Perhaps he feels protective of
young Suri, not realising that all young people need freedom to explore. Or perhaps he is simply a disciplinarian with
difficulty expressing the love that is in his heart. Either way Suri is likely to feel limited in her self-expression as a
child, particularly before the age of 14. As a result her self-esteem could suffer. She may be a serious and somewhat
shy child. It is important that Suri's father, or father figure's in her life express a lot of praise and affection to help
balance the discipline. This way Suri grows into a well-balanced young person, secure in the knowledge of her
ability to achieve her goals with the support of important men in her life. She will have the self-discipline to succeed.
In some cases it is not Suri's father that takes this stern role, but another adult male in her life. Therefore all of the
above would apply to this man, not her father. It is also possible that problems can be experienced early in life
because of Suri's relationship with her father or a father figure. If this is the case then it is likely that Suri will face
these challenges, grow in wisdom and achieve success later in life, particularly from the age of 29 years.
Saturn is Trine Mercury
Now here's a child who needs a lot of approval and support, particularly from her father or an important male
mentor. The more love and kindness that Suri receives, the more she is able to express herself in her daily life with
confidence. The reason for this is that the combination of the planets Saturn and Mercury can be a difficult one,
presenting some pitfalls in early childhood development. In other words young Suri may face difficulties in her ability
to learn and communicate. This, in turn, affects her self-confidence.
Suri may be shy, preferring the safety of her home rather than venturing out and about. Suri could be slow to talk
and read. Perhaps school seems a bit overwhelming to young Suri. She prefers to spend time reading in her own

gradually gains self-understanding and a wisdom that is beyond her years. Another positive note that is most of
Suri's learning difficulties are experienced in her early youth. As she matures, social and communication skills and
study becomes easier. It is almost as if Suri is born with a greater intelligence that needs to be carefully nurtured
during childhood in order for it to be fully expressed as she matures.
As Suri grows older, she is likely to excel in a specialised subject of her choice. Her selection of topic depends on
other aspects of her birth chart. Parents need to make sure that Suri is able to choose her own study topics as much
as is possible. Excessive parental control could have a detrimental effect, eroding Suri's budding self-confidence. It
is interesting to note that the famous scientist Albert Einstein experienced learning difficulties at school, and yet later
rose to prominence in his field. Einstein had a powerful combination (conjunction) of the planets Saturn and Mercury
in his birth chart. The strength of this association depends on the nature of the astrological link. Parents may wish to

Jupiter is Trine Venus
Good fortune smiles on Suri. The two positive planets of Venus and Jupiter have combined to bring happiness,
comfort and joy. Suri has many friends and family members who shower her with gifts and money. Loved ones are

What a little live wire! Suri needs plenty of liberty to express her independence. Naturally inquisitive, she does not
like to be tied down, but prefers to be free to explore her own interests. As such little Suri's parents need to be very
flexible with routines and social engagements.
Spontaneity is the key to successfully raising young Suri. She loves surprises. She is a unique little individual with
many and varied interests and friends. Suri also has a tendency to act first and think later. This results in some
exciting, if somewhat risky, adventures and activities. These may involve electricity, chemistry, fireworks or some
sort of experiment with a difference. She can enjoy adventures on her but usually she likes to involve her friends in
her escapades. Parents need to direct Suri's excess energy into lively, but safe, activities. Benefits can be gained
from enrolling young Suri in children's sports or social clubs.
As Suri grows older, she needs to be free to choose her friends and some of them might be quite unusual. Any
interference from her parents is likely to be met with mutiny. Parents would be well advised to give Suri her

childhood. It takes some time for her to learn the value of commitment. This depends, of course, on other aspects of
her birth chart. In rare cases this combination of the planets Venus and Uranus can indicate a child who has a very
unusual hobby or pastime that replaces her need for playmates.
Pluto is Opposite Mars
Woe betide anyone who stands in the way of young Suri. She may appear docile, but underneath she has an iron
will. Those closest to Suri recognise that she knows what she desires and is unlikely to let anyone or anything stand
in her way. This trait can be seen at a very early age. Suri doesn't like to be thwarted and has quite a temper. It is
not always apparent and can erupt out of the blue. This presents quite a challenge for Suri's parents, who need to
teach her that tantrums and other manipulative forms of behaviour are not the way to achieve her goals. Suri has to
learn that getting her own way is not the most important thing in life. Co-operation and consideration are also
valuable. Of course, the extent of Suri's forceful manner does depend on other aspects of her birth chart. However,
childhood development is likely to be strewn with some dramatic lessons. It is also vital that Suri's parents, in
particular her father, avoid physical punishment. Suri responds adversely to force, and also needs to learn how to
manage conflict as well as possible.

This report has been written from a child’s point of view with the aim of helping parents and mentors better
understand their youngsters. Of course, each person is ultimately responsible for their own actions, but the
support that children get early in life goes a long way to helping them live rich and rewarding adult lives.
Children need to be given the freedom to be their true selves rather than being forced to live up to parental
expectations or to fulfill parents’ own personal journeys. They need their parents to live their own lives to
the full, joyously and responsibly. Above all children need love and support. What great gifts and what a
challenging role for parents! It is the author’s hope that this report may help in the process of childhood
development, supporting both child and parent. My own father often quoted the above saying by Mark
Twain. So I thought that I would share it in this report. My mother gave me many of the aforementioned
gifts. I hope that these have shone through in the writing of this report.
