Xstrata Coal maintains a mailing list for local suppliers to
register their interest in quoting to supply goods and services
to Xstrata Coal Queensland and its major contractors for the
Wandoan Coal Project.
Who should register
Xstrata Coal considers businesses to be ‘local’
to the Wandoan Coal Project if they are located
in or employ residents of Wandoan, Taroom,
Miles, Roma, Dalby and surrounding districts.
Who is Xstrata Coal Queensland
Xstrata Coal’s Queensland operations include
coking and thermal coal mines in the State’s
Bowen Basin, including the Oaky Creek,
Newlands, Collinsville, and Rolleston mines
and the Abbot Point Coal Terminal. Xstrata
Coal’s Queensland projects include Togara,
Cook and Wandoan. Xstrata Coal Queensland
is part of Xstrata plc, whose operations and
projects span 18 countries and employ more
than 56,000 people.

Xstrata Coal is committed to enhancing
the socio-economic capacity, prosperity and
sustainable development of the communities
in which we operate. This includes establishing
processes to encourage sourcing and
purchasing from local companies.
How the Wandoan Suppliers
List works
The Wandoan Coal Project will be purchasing
a wide range of goods and services, including
technical, trade and professional services,
as well as construction, electronic and other
commercial goods.
To encourage purchasing from local companies,
Xstrata Coal maintains and uses a list of local
companies who are interested in quoting to
supply goods and services to the Wandoan
Coal Project. This list is also provided to
Xstrata Coal’s major contractors so they can
request quotes and sub-contract work to local
businesses. Part of Xstrata Coal’s tender process
for major contractors requires a commitment
by them to purchase goods and services locally,
where commercially viable.
Local companies who are interested in quoting
to supply goods and services for the Wandoan
Coal Project should complete this Expression of
Interest and return it to Xstrata Coal. They can
then respond to any requests for quotes in the
usual way.
How to apply

When to apply
Expressions of Interest to the Xstrata Coal
Wandoan Suppliers List will be accepted at
any time.
Expressions of Interest will be processed by
the Wandoan Coal Project Contracts
Administrator. Suppliers may receive requests
for quotes at any time from Xstrata Coal or
one of its major contractors.
