<strong>TIPTON</strong> <strong>COUNTY</strong> <strong>DEMOLITION</strong> <strong>DERB</strong> <strong>YR</strong> ULES<br />
AND REGULATIONS<br />

1. There will be no Chrysler Imperials, Imperial sub frames, suicide door<br />
Lincoln, SUV's hearses, el Caminos, 4x4's, convertibles, or limos allowed<br />
to compete in the derby. No sedagons will be allowed.<br />
2. ALL glass must be removed and cannot remain anywhere in the car.<br />
3. ALL chrome, mirrors, antennas, door handles, and bumper push guards<br />
must come off.<br />
4. Bumpers can be welded or chained to prevent from coming off during<br />
Derby. If bumper is welded, no metal can be added. If chained, chain links<br />
must remain unwelded. Bumper brackets can be removed and bumper<br />
welded to frame but no extra metal can be added. Homemade bumper<br />
brackets are subject to be approved by Tech Officials.<br />
5. The only bracing allowed will be to run a pipe from side to side where<br />
the dash is and behind the driver's seat. This is optional. The limits will be:<br />
Not to exceed 3 inches round or square and no more than V* inch thick.<br />
6. No metal plate or tube can be welded on outside of car. A metal tube can<br />
be installed across dash area. A metal tube can be installed behind seat.<br />
(The metal tube behind seat cannot be more than 8" behind front door<br />
seam). A metal tube can be installed along driver and passenger door on the<br />
inside that is welded to the dash and behind seat tube. No bar, tube or plate<br />
can be attached to the floor board or frame. Welding tubes or bars are<br />
recommended. If the cage or tubes are bolted, the nuts must be on the inside<br />
of car. (Head of bolts on outside of car; nuts on inside of car). A roll bar is<br />
allowed. The roll bar cannot go to the floor pans, frame or anywhere on car<br />
body. The roll bar can go from the behind seat bar up over driver and<br />
connect to the dash bar. Roll bar can go from behind seat bar up over car<br />
back into the behind seat bar. Roll bar may be attached to the roof using<br />
bolts or by welding.
7. Any flammables must be removed from inside the car (carpet, padding,<br />
etc.)<br />
8. The car must have working brakes.<br />
9. The car must have a working seatbelt and must be worn at all times.<br />
10. All drivers must wear a helmet while running.<br />
11. The battery must be moved to the inside of the cab of the car, securely<br />
fastened, and covered on the passenger side of the car.<br />
12. Absolutely no hitting in the driver's side door!<br />
13. The driver's side door must be securely fastened (welded, bolted or<br />
chained).<br />
14. There will be no one allowed on the track except for the officials and<br />
the drivers.<br />
15. Any items added to the car for decoration purposes must be attached in<br />
a manner that it will not come off or you will be made to remove it before<br />
entering the arena.<br />
16. Do not paint, write, scratch, or draw any profanity on the cars.<br />
17. If there are any alcohol beverages found on you, your pit crew, or your<br />
car, you will be made to leave the arena with your car and you will not be<br />
given a refund.<br />
18. The gas tank must be removed and put in the back floor board behind<br />
the Driver and securely fastened to the floor.<br />
19. You may run a transmission cooler, but it must be securely fastened and<br />
covered behind the driver. It can be in a bucket or stabilized so it will not<br />
move. (Lines inside of car must be high pressure lines and wrapped or
covered).<br />
20. All radiators must remain in their stock position.<br />
21. There will be no reinforcing to the A-Arms or axles.<br />
22. The driver's door must be padded (stock door cover will work).<br />
23. The car must have a floorboard of some type on both the driver's and<br />
passenger's side front.<br />
24. The car may be welded with rebar, but cannot exceed V* inch in<br />
diameter (door seams and trunk only). 1/8" x 3 max flat may be used.<br />
25. All body seams can be welded. Frame seams from firewall forward can<br />
be welded (one pass on weld only) No added metal.<br />
26. Threaded rods no bigger than % inch may be used to fasten the hood<br />
thru the frame and core support. A total number of six % inch rods may be<br />
used. Hood may be welded as long as four or less % inch rods are used. If<br />
hood is welded, the welded seam can be no further than 8 inches from the<br />
opening of the hood.<br />
27. Hoods and trunks must have 2 holes at least 6x6 in diameter.<br />
28. All factory body mounts must remain stock except for core support<br />
mounts.<br />
29. You will not be allowed to install larger body bolt.<br />
30. The front and rear suspension can be made rigged as long as it does not<br />
exceed 20 inches from the ground to the bottom of the bumper. No wedges<br />
allowed.<br />
31. ALL frames must remain stock to the car and cannot be reinforced in<br />
any manner. Also, not truck frames!! (Note: exception see Rule 25)<br />
32. The car must have a number on both of the front doors 8-10 inches tall.
33. Any arguments that may result in a fight will result in all parties<br />
involved being made to exit the arena and no refunds will be given.<br />
34. All cars will be inspected before the derby. The top 3 cars will be<br />
inspected again after the feature heat before they leave the arena. After<br />
passing inspection, all cars must go to designated area. No further work can<br />
be done until after your heat.<br />
35. One person may enter more than one car. Each car can only be run once<br />
and the cars cannot be switched, i.e., if a driver has 2 cars and 1 of the cars<br />
makes it to the feature and the other one does not, then he cannot switch<br />
them and take the car that did not win its heat.<br />
36. ALL drivers must be at least 16 years of age. Drivers under the age of<br />
18 must have the signature of a parent. If a driver is 18 or older, no other<br />
signature is required.<br />
37. The entry fee is $30.00<br />
38. All judges decisions are final! If disqualified for any reason, you will<br />
not be given a refund.<br />
39. No teaming or pairing up against other drivers!!<br />
40. If a driver becomes injured, and can no longer drive, they may choose<br />
another driver.<br />
41. ALL drivers must be present for the drivers' meeting. No exceptions!<br />
42. If the drivers or the passenger side door should come open, you will be<br />
flagged and made to exit the arena immediately. No refunds will be given.<br />
This is for your safety!<br />
43. No playing "possum" or sandbagging." If caught, you will be<br />
disqualified.<br />
44. If you are caught cheating in any way, you will be disqualified.<br />
45. If the doors are not welded, chained or bolted, you will not be allowed
to enter the arena,<br />
46. Absolutely no reinforcing of the front end! (See rule #25) All steering<br />
components must remain stock.<br />
47. The back of the hood must be pinned down and you must leave the<br />
hood hinges on if less than six % rods are used to hold down hood or hood<br />
seams are welded.<br />
48. On the deck lid, you may put two % inch pieces of all thread through<br />
the frame at the back only.<br />
49. All cars must be at the arena by 6:00 p.m. for inspection. After drivers'<br />
meeting, no cars are eligible for participation in derby. Any part of this rule<br />
is at the discretion of official and may be over-ridden in certain incidences.<br />
50. All cars that have run in a previous derby must return the rear bumpter<br />
to the 20 inch maximum height. (Bumper may be removed but rear must be<br />
intact and driver must have clear vision to rear.<br />
51. All running cars MUST make or attempt to make contact with another<br />
running cars in one minutes' time or you will be disqualified. Any cars that<br />
are stalled for some reason will have 2 minutes to get their cars running and<br />
make contact or attempt to make contact or you will be disqualified.<br />
52. Any protest must be made within 10 minutes of feature race. The fee is<br />
$300. A specific item must be protested. If the car is found legal, that<br />
driver gets the protest fee. If the car is found illegal, driver forfeits any and<br />
all winnings. Protestor will get his $300 back and winnings will go to<br />
driver next in line.<br />
53. All drivers will be provided with a set of rules upon arrival or you can<br />
request a copy before then. These rules were not made to discriminate<br />
against anyone, but purely for the safety of everyone involved.<br />
54. JUST BECAUSE IT IS NOT LISTED IN THESE RULES DOESN'T<br />
MAKE IT LEGAL! If you are not sure about a rule, CONTACT US<br />
BEFORE YOU DO IT - Not having a copy of the rules is not an excuse.
