judiciary and distinguished guests and ladies and gentlemen, it
is a pleasure to be here today, even though I feel a bit like
the fourth -- or a bit like the last float in the Frontier Days
Parade. And I know that you've been spoken to and at all
morning. And one thing, of course, I should take advantage of
and that is to second all of the wise observations just made
and also heretofore made in the Wyoming Supreme Court. And
those were all very, very wise words and all I can do is second
them all and add to them something that I have always believed
rather deeply in, and that is something that I've already told
many of you who are members of the University of Wyoming School
of Law graduating class that I believe in and that is
excellence in practice of your profession.
It seems to me that that is the ticket that will pay
off for you as practicing lawyers every time, and it will be
the standard by which your community will judge you and will
reward you by growth of your practice of law. If you always
practice excellence, in addition to the other qualities that
are just mentioned to you, it seems to me that you will
assuredly go very, very far in your profession.
And, of course, there's one thing more that I am glad
to note, and that is that Marianne Shanor is the fourth
generation of our family, April and I are proud to note this,
that have become members of the Wyoming State Bar. And it is a
