President’s Letter
―… and a Janome Memory Craft 11000.‖ We’ll never forget our
Christmas party quartet’s version of the 12 Days of Christmas. Who knew we
had such songbirds in our midst Everyone was enormously entertained, not
just by Anne A., Becky, Brenda A. and Kathy C., but by the lovely decorations,
great food and little tidbits of fun that was thrown in. These ladies have thrown
down the gauntlet for all future parties.
Food was prepared and presented beautifully by Kathy C., Brenda A,
Maxine, Kathy M. and Cammie. Becky helped collect door prizes. We also owe a
big THANK YOU to Dixie and the Sew Much More shop for their continued
support and generosity. And, thanks to all of you for helping with the clean up.
Speaking of Stitchers who have performed great service to the guild, I
should not forget Kelly. She not only stepped in early in the year and took over
the newsletter, but also designed our quilt show program, the Lincoln Sampler
book and the charming little program that was part of our Christmas party. And,
believe or not the first time she ever laid eyes on Publisher software was this
Spring. Talent, the Stitchers have it!
Next year’s program calendar is ready and being checked for date
conflicts. It will be in the January newsletter. It’s an ambitious calendar, but our
goal is to have enough events planned so that no matter how busy you are with
the rest of your life, there should be one or two things that you can fit into your
schedule. In addition to classes and UFO dates, we’ve added some interest to our
Patriotic Quilts project and added another community service project. 2009 will
be another great year for the Stitchers.
Elsewhere in this newsletter is the first installment of a newsletter-based
mystery quilt. This is a traditional quilt with a twist. It will be presented to you
in five sections and wrapped up at a UFO meeting in May. If you like the
traditional look – you’ll like this quilt.
We have planned a UFO/pizza party for January 16 th from 5:00-10:00. If
you are one of the few quilters on earth who doesn’t have UFOs, you are still
welcome to join in the fun. It would be a good time to do Step I of the mystery
quilt.
Margo will be your hostess at the January meeting. Bring a quilt and
bring a friend.
