OUR TOWN - SALEM<br />
Do you remember how much fun school field trips are?<br />
The bus ride? The excitement <strong>of</strong> being away from the<br />
school building? Seeing new sights? Learning new things<br />
through experience? Field trips are made possible<br />
through the financial support <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Salem</strong> School PTO.<br />
Do you buy gasoline? Clothing? Electronics? Home improvement<br />
items? Groceries? Office supplies? Do you shop at national<br />
stores located in area shopping centers and malls?<br />
Do you eat at restaurants? You can pay for those ordinary,<br />
every day expenses using gift cards you buy from the<br />
PTO gift card fundraiser program and help the PTO<br />
raise the funds needed for those field trips!<br />
Do you have kids? It doesn’t matter! We all have friends with kids, or<br />
kids in our neighborhood, who benefit from the field trips!<br />
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: You buy the gift card, you spend the full dollar<br />
value, and the PTO earns a percentage <strong>of</strong> the gift card’s value! Sounds fishy,<br />
right? But it’s true!<br />
1. You look at a form that shows (a) the companies participating in this program -easily<br />
over 100 <strong>of</strong> them, (b) the dollar value <strong>of</strong> the gift cards available -- most <strong>of</strong>fer<br />
a couple <strong>of</strong> choices, and (c) the percentage the PTO will earn -- it varies from one<br />
company to another. You can get a copy <strong>of</strong> the form by calling Sue Bennett at (860)<br />
859-3426 or emailing her at cbflyer@yahoo.com (include “gift card” in subject line).<br />
2. You complete the order form, attach your check payable to “<strong>Salem</strong> PTO”, and<br />
address an envelope to <strong>Salem</strong> School PTO Gift Card Fundraiser. You can drop <strong>of</strong>f<br />
the envelope at <strong>Salem</strong> School or mail it to 200 Hartford Rd, <strong>Salem</strong> CT 06420.<br />
3. You will be contacted when the gift card(s) arrive so arrangements can be made to<br />
get them to you.<br />
Field trips expand horizons. . . We all have to buy stuff anyway . . . This gift<br />
card program is nothing less than a WIN-WIN opportunity, available<br />
throughout the school year on a monthly basis.<br />
Opportunities to support the activities <strong>of</strong> the PTO are wideranging<br />
in role and time required, and available to all residents <strong>of</strong><br />
the <strong>Salem</strong> community! You can explore how you might<br />
participate by attending the monthly meetings, held on the third<br />
Tuesday <strong>of</strong> each month at 7 pm in the <strong>Salem</strong> School Library.
