Tactical Intercom System
Harris, a leading supplier of tactical radio systems, introduces the newest complement to its world-class radio products: the RF-7800I
Tactical Intercom System.
Built to MIL-STD-810F specifications, the rugged RF-7800I is a fully integrated solution for vehicle voice and data communications that
can interoperate with Harris Falcon ® radios as well as other military, government and commercial devices. Its modular, software-defined
and open architecture allows configuration for any vehicle and any mission via a simple and intuitive configuration tool. Each unit is
programmable from the Central Unit, but also includes user-friendly voice menus for configuring options and settings on the move.
The RF-7800I Tactical Intercom System: the customizable, reliable choice for vehicular intercom communications—any vehicle, any mission.
System Components
RF-7800I-CU
Central Unit
The intercom system’s main component, the Central Unit, distributes voice messages,
and monitors vehicle system status, end-user controls and end-user indicators. The device
provides power to all connected units, independent switching of 16 voice streams, routing
of 16 data channels and control of four radio transceivers. A “lite” version for voice-only
applications is also available. Connection ports include:
• Four radio transceiver voice ports
• Four general-purpose serial ports
• 10 peripheral connections to crew member stations/remote links
• Ethernet port supporting TCP/IP
• Standard military field wire connectivity out to 1200 meters
Keypad Display Unit
The Keypad Display Unit displays messages and commands on its LCD screen, but combines
voice station functionality with data terminal capabilities. An incorporated keypad allows
input of numeric information and control codes, which are processed by the Central Unit and
redirected to other networked intercom devices. The unit provides crew members with full
control of intercom assets while on the move for maximum in-field flexibility. Configuration
options include the choice of a second headset connector or data connection to support PCs or
other network devices.
RF-7800I-CS
Crew Member Unit
The Crew Member Unit features a 16-position rotary switch with each position programmable
for a different operational mode. Crew members can easily monitor selected channels,
conference with certain intercom users, monitor and transmit via radio transceivers connected
to the intercom system, or access external connections such as phone lines.
End-User Unit
The RF-7800I End-User Unit is intended for crew members who require reliable voice
intercom connectivity or fixed asset monitoring that’s driven through a simple user interface.
Configuration modes are auto-populated by the system configuration plan, and the End-User
Unit can be used as a simple intercom or for more advanced applications, including radio
asset monitoring. The End-User Unit features one headset connection port with the choice of
an additional serial communications port or a second headset connector port.
Speaker Amplifier Unit
The Speaker Amplifier projects single or multiple channel audio that is selected during
intercom system configuration. Its high-power, broadband speaker makes the unit ideal
for command broadcasts or radio monitoring. The Speaker Amplifier incorporates a
40-watt amplifier and five-setting volume control knob.
RF-7800I-TA
Telephone and Alarm Unit
The Telephone and Alarm Unit allows connection between a field telephone or PBX and
the vehicle’s intercom system, and connection to other vehicles’ intercom systems. The
unit also includes a built-in alarm capability for monitoring up to eight warning signals
originated by vehicle subsystems.
