Welcome to the Cain Cattle Company Angus Production Sale at our new sales facility in Pickens, Mississippi. The 

foundation of the Cain Cattle Company Angus herd is selectively built upon some of the best genetics the breed has 

to offer. Our sources have been Wehrmann Angus in Virginia, Dreamcatcher in Texas and Thistle Farms in Ohio 

and other top-quality cattle when available. We have focused on economically important traits such as fertility, pounds, feed 

efficiency and carcass traits in our selection and mating decisions. Quietly we have built a performance herd of Angus cattle 

second to none. 

Today, we are pleased to offer you the benefits of our labors. 

Our entire cow herd and bull battery has been tested for AM and NH and all remaining cows are free, with the exception of 

Rita 1247 of 2536 RDA, perhaps 2536’s most powerful daughter. We will continue to flush 1247 and test progeny while 

discarding all positive cattle and retaining the tested free to continue building our herd. Another stalwart contributor on the cow 

herd side is DRMCTR Objective 6J2, who posts a +70 $B and a +109 YW EPD, and at one time was the number 2 $B female 

in the breed. 

We have paid particular attention to bull power and are pleased with the exceptional progress we have made. We pride 

ourselves in being able to turn out for cleanup the kind of sires other breeders use AI. Rito 5M42 of 2536 PRED is the 

top-ranking sire on the supplement list for $B at +75.61. Coupled with his Yearling EPD of +110, REA of +.99 and MARB 

of +.72, he represents the power and dimension we wish to build around. A full sister is one of the features in this year’s 

Wehrmann sale and his sons and daughters are high-volume, big-topped and efficient. Our most recent additions to our herd 

bull battery is Rito 7O65 of Rita 5M46 Obj who boasts a BW EPD of I+2.4, YW of I+113 and a $B of +78.56 which was good 

enough to rank him second among all non-parent bulls this spring and make him Werhmann’s top seller.

Summary for Supplemental Sires and is a star member of the famous 

Predestined/2536 blend that has produced so many top-performing 

and high revenue individuals in the Wehrmann program in Virginia.

Rita 5T5 is one of, if not the, last living daughter of the immortal Rita 

5H11 found in the breed today and a rare genetic gem. Rita 5H11 

helped establish Wehrmann Angus as one of the industry’s most 

respected seedstock nurseries and she appears in the tabulation of 

more high-revenue individuals than any female in the history of the 

breed. A flush on Rita 5H11 was purchased by Gardiner Angus Ranch 

in Kansas some 21 years ago and it was the descendants of the Scotch 

Cap/Rita 5H11 flush that went on to compile volumes of breed history 

in this famous program as well. The sire, Rito 149, was a longtimefeatured 

roster member at both Jorgensen Angus and ABS, with his 

sire, RR Rito 707, still having an important impact upon the breed

FEMALE TERMS AND CONDITIONS 

BIDDING 

Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder without reserve. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and 

his decision on such matters shall be final. 

TERMS 

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the seller to see that 

animals are fed and cared for, until loaded for shipment or until the expiration of 48 hours after the sale, whichever 

occurs sooner. After 48 hours a maintenance fee of $2.00 per day will be assessed until pick up unless Cain Cattle is 

arranging trucking. 

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY 

A transferred certificate of registry will be furnished to the purchaser for each registered animal, once proper 

settlement has been made. Please allow up to 60 days for transfer. 

HEALTH 

All animals are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise and health papers will be furnished for each 

animal. 

ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Any changes from the information of any kind in this sale book will be provided in a sale day supplement sheet or 

announced from the auction block and such information shall take precedence over information in the sale book. 

BREEDING GUARANTEE 

1. All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of a) calves under 12 months of age; b) animals 

shown by purchaser after sale in which the breeding guarantee (if any) shall be agreed upon between the seller 

and the buyer; c) injury or disease occurring after the sale; d) gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of 

the purchaser; e) death by any reason. 

2. Safe-in-calf females have been examined by competent personnel and are so guaranteed. 

3. Exposed females have been exposed but are not guaranteed to be in calf. 

4. Open females have not been served and are so guaranteed. 

5. Donor females (a) A female is not guaranteed to be a breeder after date of sale, when that female is to be used, or 

attempted to be used, in an embryo transfer program, unless by separate agreement between the buyer and seller; 

(b) Embryo transfer guarantee: Even though it is possible some of the female lots have worked successfully in our 

embryo transfer program in the past, and should in the future, there is no guarantee or warranty on future embryo 

production of any lot. Flush records are available upon request. 

ULTRASOUND PREGANANCY DETERMINATION 

Ultrasound pregnancy technology utilizes high frequency sound waves to generate an image measuring the sound 

waves refracted by tissues of varying density. Early pregnancy diagnosis in cattle, via ultrasonography, offers the 

producer tremendous benefits. Early detection of pregnancy, 35-60 days, allows for early evaluation of fertility, 

efficient sorting of management groups within an operation and more timely culling of infertile females. 

The embryo can be visualized as early as 18 days of pregnancy. However, 100 percent accuracy cannot be achieved 

until near 26 days of pregnancy. Along with the ability to detect early pregnancy, more has been understood about 

the dynamics of early pregnancy and embryonic loss. Ninety percent of artificially inseminated females result in 

fertilization; however, many of these embryos will not survive until 25 days of pregnancy. Research also indicates 

that 5-10 percent of pregnancies will be lost between 25 and 45 days of gestation. Causes or embryonic loss are 

not completely understood, but include factors ranging from health related issues to genetic abnormalities in the 

embryo. 

The registered females in this sale noted safe in calf have been determined as a pregnancy using physical palpation 

or ultrasound technology. Our best estimate of service sire will be given in the case of the females with both AI sire 

and natural sire.
