TERMS AND CONDITIONS<br />
Housing Contract Academic Year 2012-2013 (Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 Semesters)<br />
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY<br />
Terms and Conditions<br />
I understand that if I have applied for an annual contract, I am committing myself to stay in University<br />
accommodation for both the fall and spring semesters. If I decide to leave early, I will forfeit my housing<br />
deposit. <strong>The</strong>re will also be no refund of fees already paid to the University.<br />
I understand that this agreement constitutes a binding contract between <strong>Richmond</strong>, <strong>The</strong> <strong>American</strong><br />
International University in London and me and this is binding for both room and board except where otherwise<br />
stated.<br />
For full details on housing fees, contact the Finance Office at finance@richmond.ac.uk. <strong>The</strong> housing deposit I<br />
have submitted is non-refundable (if subsequently cancelled by me). <strong>The</strong> deposit will be held on my account<br />
for the duration of my housing lease and, at this point, remains on my account until I graduate or withdraw<br />
unless the fee payer requests earlier repayment. <strong>The</strong> deposit will only be released once the University is<br />
satisfied the student owes no outstanding fees or charges.<br />
I understand that the University reserves the right to change room assignments, consolidate, and make good<br />
faith decisions when special circumstances arise. I also understand that I must occupy my room by the last<br />
day of the course add/drop period. If I have not moved in by that date, my housing contract will be cancelled<br />
and I will forfeit my housing deposit.<br />
I must be a current registered full-time student at <strong>Richmond</strong> University to be entitled to occupy a University<br />
room. If I fall below full-time status I will be required to leave accommodations and will receive no refund of<br />
fees paid.<br />
Should my account remain in arrears past the add/drop period for that semester, the University's debt<br />
collection agency will be notifies and this will incur additional costs for wish I will be liable.<br />
If I should withdraw from the University my deposit will be withheld for breaking my annual contract. If I take an<br />
official Leave of Absence the University will withhold my deposit until I return to the University and resume<br />
accommodation. In the event I do not return to the University my deposit will be forfeited. If I am dismissed<br />
during the semester for disciplinary reasons I will be withdrawn from housing and will receive no refund of<br />
room and board fees. In addition I will forfeit my deposit. If I am dismissed from the University for academic<br />
reasons, I will receive a refund of my housing deposit minus any fees to cover damage to the room.<br />
If I have taken out an annual contract I understand that I may leave belongings in my room at my own risk<br />
over the December break without charge. Items must be packed away neatly, all electrical equipment must be<br />
unplugged and all food and perishable items must be removed from the room. I understand that at the end of<br />
the spring semester I must vacate my room on or before the published move-out date and store my personal<br />
belongings off campus Furthermore, I understand I will face a GBP100 penalty for failure to check out of my<br />
room and an additional charge of £50 per day for every day that I fail to remove my personal belongings from<br />
the room after the residence hall closing date. <strong>The</strong> University reserves the right to remove and dispose of any<br />
of my possessions without further notice.<br />
If I have applied for summer housing I understand that I must vacate my room by the move out date published<br />
for the appropriate session and there are no storage facilities available on campus.<br />
By signing this contract I agree to abide by all University regulations pertaining to living in halls of residence<br />
including the Student Conduct Code. I accept that I may be charged additional fees for inappropriate<br />
behaviour, the details of which can be found in the Student Conduct Code. Furthermore, I understand that<br />
authorized University staff may enter my room if required.<br />
I understand that ultimately any dispute concerning this contract will be settled by the Courts of Law in<br />
England.<br />
