Camp Morning Glory, ages 3 to 7<br />

Camp Cottonwood, ages 8 to 12<br />

Camp Morning Glory offers one week sessions throughout the summer. You may choose<br />

either the three-day program or the five-day program.<br />

Hours are 8:30am-12:30pm or 8:30am-3:30pm. After Camp Care is available from 3:30pm-<br />

5:00pm.<br />

Each day unfolds in a rhythmic way alternating group activities with opportunities for free<br />

play. Children will enjoy exploring our 38 acre campus during their daily walk, stories, water<br />

play, songs and games during circle time, outdoor play with sand and water, and crafts such<br />

as felting and fingerpainting. We’ll bake bread and snack on the organic veggies that we<br />

pick from the CSA on campus.<br />

Camp Cottonwood offers one-week long themed day camps, including wildcrafting,<br />

theatre, and bee care. Hours are 8:30am-3:30pm, unless otherwise noted. After Camp<br />

Care is available from 3:30pm-5:00pm.<br />

Wildcrafting - Explore the grounds of <strong>Shepherd</strong> <strong>Valley</strong>’s beautiful campus in search of medicinal<br />

and healing plants. These are the same plants the native peoples would have used to feed themselves<br />

or treat common ailments. We will draw on traditional wisdom as we harvest these plants<br />

with respect and gratitude. Activities may include creating salves, syrups and spritzers, and finding<br />

some edible plants to snack on.<br />

Out and About - Who’s up for a road trip Explore the nature centers and museums of Boulder<br />

County and beyond. With excursions to the Butterfly Pavilion, local farms, museums at CU, and<br />

more, every day will bring us to a new location full of fun and learning.
<br />

Circus Arts - Big fun under the big top! Learn circus arts such as unicycling, juggling, stilt-walking<br />

and more. Practice the art of face painting and costume design. The camp will culminate with<br />

a performance where campers can demonstrate their newfound skills.
<br />

Theatre - Young actors will enter a world where imagination, creativity, and poetry abound.<br />

Each camp day will be filled with a mixture of theater, art, music, dance, and classic fables/myths/<br />

folk tales. The program culminates in a performance that will bring these characters to life!
<br />

Games - Each day will be filled with a variety of cooperative games such as amoeba tag, sardines<br />

and taffy-pull, campers will have a blast as they develop the capacity to work together.
<br />

Outdoor Adventure - Enjoy the great outdoors with activities such as hiking, fishing and treeclimbing.<br />

Children will have a great time exploring new activities as well as enjoying old favorites.
<br />

Bee Care - Children will safely observe and interact with bees. Participants will learn about<br />

beehive observation and manipulation and will use a hive-smoker to harvest honey. They will also<br />

learn a bee-language and the importance of honeybees in the food cycle. We will also explore<br />

some of the many uses of beeswax like making candles, wax figures or lotions. In addition to<br />

learning about the domesticated honeybee, we’ll explore the world of native, wild bees, native<br />

plants, and other pollinators.
<br />

Mandarin - <strong>Shepherd</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>Waldorf</strong> <strong>School</strong> Mandarin teacher Tra Ling will bring the students<br />

into the world of Chinese language and culture. Through songs, stories, games and of course<br />

food, students will be introduced to sounds and shapes of Mandarin Chinese, which has been the<br />

national language of China since the 14th century and which has the most native speakers in the<br />

world today.
