The Alpha Academy
During adolescence the transition to manhood can
extract its toll on young men and their families.
The Alpha Academy Program provides youth with
mentoring, character education, and life skill
training. Our team of mentors believes that a
rigorous and relevant education can stop the cycle
of complacency, self-destruction and mediocrity.
Young men of today face many challenges, options,
and choices in their struggle to attain adulthood.
We believe that a good education is a vehicle for
self-respect, self-esteem and self-sufficiency. Most
of all, we believe that a good education is the means
to inspire young men
to become productive good
citizens, college educated and lifelong learners.
Tutoring Service Program
The Alpha Academy staff of instructors provides
after school tutoring, homework support and
academic enrichment.
The free tutoring service is located on the Campus
of Cosumnes River College and is available three
times a week. The sessions are for both boys and girls
of all ages that are in need of academic assistance and
support. The tutoring hours in Room CRC 104 are:
- Tuesday & Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
- Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
**High school and college students can earn
community service credit hours as volunteer tutors.
The Parent Institute
The Parents Institute will provide seminars that are
designed to promote parenting skills, educational
advocacy, leadership, student and parent rights that
are essential in helping close the academic
achievement gap for students of color.
The Parent Institute offers a curriculum of parenting
classes that will help everyday people learn the
requirements of public school education and college
preparation. Our support program is a collective
endeavor of parents, educators, and human service
professionals that want to proactively maximize
positive experiences for our youth in the public
educational system.
The Parent Institute is held on the following dates:

Community Service Activities
Alpha Academy promotes civic responsibility by
encouraging students, parents and family members to
participate in the following annual Sacramento
community activities:
1. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration March – January 21, 2013
2. Gospel Concert – January 27, 2013
3. Young Male Conference – February 23, 2013
4. ZBL Annual Founders Day Brunch – March 24, 2013
5. Sacramento March of Dimes Walk for Babies – April 27, 2013
6. Juneteenth Celebration at William Land Park – June 16-16, 2013
Green Technology
The Green Technology Academy connects
young adults to high-wage jobs in the emerging
clean green market sector. It is considered the
fastest growing economic sector in the world,
and green technology is the fifth largest growth
industry in the U.S.
New environmental initiatives on renewable
energy and energy efficiency will spur more
than 100,000 jobs in California and 37 million
jobs nationwide. Green technology builds
specialized green science skills that prepare
students to secure gainful employment in
building design, construction trades, science
and engineering.
The Green Technology curriculum is also designed to prepare
middle and high school students to excel in science courses
