About this course<br />
The aim of the course is to provide a higher qualification that is recognised not only with<strong>in</strong> the<br />
mar<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong>dustry but also by shore based employers. This is achieved by comb<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g an HND <strong>in</strong><br />
Mar<strong>in</strong>e Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g with a PDA <strong>in</strong> Mar<strong>in</strong>e Management and by the higher level of mathematics<br />
studied. Successful completion of the course will give full exemptions to MCA exam<strong>in</strong>ations for<br />
academic subjects at Class 2 and Class 1.<br />

supervisory or management position out with the mar<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong>dustry.<br />
Cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g study – Successful completion of the course will offer easier articulation to 3 rd or 4 th year of a university<br />
degree course.<br />
How long<br />
There are two <strong>in</strong>takes for phase 1 cadets each year, August and January. The course lasts approximately three<br />
years from phase 1 to completion of phase 5.<br />
