Why do people waste food
• Lack of knowledge about the leftovers and portion sizes
• Use-and-throw-away culture
• Lack of planning
• Lack of respect for food
• Lack of responsibility
Part 2:
The Solution
www.stopspildafmad.dk
Consumers deny their food waste
It is essential to educate consumers on what food waste is.
Many consumers do not perceive themselves as “food wasters”.
Danish Agriculture & Food Council:
“48% of Danish consumers say that they do not
waste food.”
Not my
fault!
www.stopspildafmad.dk
Our 3 advices on less food waste
1. In the supermarket: Purchase only the amount of food that
you need.
2. In the kitchen: Prepare only the amount of food that you can
eat.
3. After a meal: If you have leftovers, put them quickly in the
freezer for another day or in the refrigerator and eat them
the next day.
Consumers: say NO to food waste!
Shop with your head and not with your stomach. Eat leftovers.
Buy what you need and use what you have bought.
