<strong>PGY2</strong> Critical <strong>Care</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> <strong>Residency</strong><br />
The <strong>PGY2</strong> Critical <strong>Care</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> <strong>Residency</strong> is a 12-month, organized, directed,<br />
postgraduate training program that focuses on developing the skills and competencies<br />
necessary to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to critically ill patients. The resident is<br />
expected to become an integral component of the multi-disciplinary critical care team and<br />
work with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other pharmacists on a daily<br />
basis.<br />
Required Rotations:<br />
Trauma ICU – 18 bed unit (8 weeks)<br />
Medical ICU – 18 bed unit (8 weeks)<br />
Surgical ICU – 18 bed unit (8 weeks)<br />
Cardiac ICU – 18 bed unit (8 weeks)<br />
Infectious Diseases (4 weeks)<br />
Elective rotations:<br />
Pain / Palliative <strong>Care</strong><br />
Emergency Medicine<br />
Toxicology / Poison Control<br />
Psychiatry<br />
Intensification of required rotations<br />
Longitudinal experiences:<br />
Code responder (ACLS)<br />
Committee involvement (P&T, ICU, others)<br />
Pharmacokinetics<br />
Precepting PGY1 residents and students<br />
Clinical research<br />
Miscellaneous Information:<br />
Application deadline: January 5 th<br />
Estimated stipend: $52,000<br />
Benefits – full benefits will be provided (details provided by the LRMC HR<br />
Department)<br />
Earned Time Off (ETO) – 26 days per year<br />
Starting date: Approximately July 1 st<br />

Qualifications:<br />
Candidates will have graduated from an ACPE-accredited Doctor of <strong>Pharmacy</strong><br />
degree by the beginning of the residency year (beginning of July)<br />
Candidates will be eligible for licensure in the state of Florida<br />
PGY1 or equivalent experience preferred<br />
Candidates who meet the above qualifications may apply for a <strong>PGY2</strong> Critical <strong>Care</strong><br />
residency position by forwarding all required materials in one envelope to Michael<br />
Semanco, Pharm.D., BCPS (contact information available below).<br />

College Transcript (from College of <strong>Pharmacy</strong>)<br />
Three (3) recommendations with at least one from a clinical rotation experience<br />
(each recommendation should be an ASHP form in addition to an individual letter)<br />
Applicants should collect all documents and submit in one envelope<br />
All application materials must be postmarked by January 5 th . Candidates who do not<br />
return all application materials by the established due date will not be considered for a<br />
residency position.<br />
Once all applications have been received and reviewed, select candidates will be invited<br />
for an onsite interview. A twenty (20) minute presentation will be required.<br />
