P+S Technik Image Converter
The first image converter was developed by P+S Technik and the German DoP Ben Gabel in 2000. Since then
the MINI35 and the PRO35 became the tools that you don’t want to miss if you are composing your images
with depth-of-field, but shooting with a video camera.
PRO35 MKII 2/3”
The PRO35 2/3“ is the image converter for all 2/3”
camcorders from Sony, Panasonic, Thomson, etc. with
a standard B4 camera mount. Different lens mounts
for the PRO35, easy to interchange, make available
hundreds of 35mm lenses, film or still photography. The
MKII upgrade enhanced the results of the PRO35 when
shooting with HD cameras and higher shutter speeds.
PRO35 1/2”
The PRO35 for 1/2” CCD cameras is a combination
of the well-proofed technology of the PRO35 2/3” and
a new designed relay lens that re-sizes the image to
the smaller 1/2” chip. The PRO35 1/2” is designed to
work perfectly with the Sony XDCam HD.
MINI35 ‘400’
The MINI35 was the start for this whole product line in
2000 and due to its high quality design and maximum
modular product structure; it has proofed itself as very
time-enduring product. Consisting of a basic unit and
different connecting kits to attach very different video
cameras, the MINI35 has already seen about fifteen
different camera models from the very first three CCD
MiniDV cameras up until now state-of-the-art HDV
camcorders from Canon, JVC, Panasonic and Sony.

MINI35 Compact
This model is a more compact and lightweight version
including the MINI35 technology. It is based on 1/3“
camcorders with a detachable front lens. Using a
different optical path than the 400 version, the MINI35
Compact is more light-sensitive. This MINI35 Compact
can be used either with the Canon XL H1 or the JVC
GY-HD201/251 camcorders.

The Technology behind it
The Image Converter resolves the 35 mm image from
the lens onto a ground glass located at the position of
the traditional film plane. The image is then optically
frozen, down-scaled and transmitted to the camera‘s
CCDs. You can use the converter relay lens‘ own
iris or the camera’s iris to control the amount of light
coming trough the system without affecting the depthof-field.
This gives you new creative freedom before
not available on digital cameras.

MKII upgrade for PRO35 (2/3“)
The successful PRO35 received an upgrade for better
performance with HD cameras and higher frame rates.
In the MKII, the ground glass oscillates with a higher
speed range than before to avoid interferences with
the shutter speed. All PRO35 Image Converters with
the serial number 200 400 and higher are delivered as
MKII version. PRO35 Image Converters with an earlier
serial number can be upgraded to the MKII version.

Accessories
The PRO35 Image Converter works with all film camera
accessories like follow focus, lens control, bridge plate,
matte box, etc. The 15 mm support bridge and rods are
included in the delivery content of both converters. A holder
for the 15 mm rods is required on the camera side (e.g. from
Chrosziel or ARRI). For heavy duty support you need the
PRO35 19 mm support bridge and alternatively Chrosziel
or ARRI accessories. Both can be purchased through P+S
Technik.

The PRO35 product range has further expanded with
a PRO35 version for video cameras with 1/2” CCDs.
The PRO35 1/2“ contains specially designed lenses
to fully project the image from the 35 mm lens onto the
1/2“ CCDs. In general, the PRO35 1/2“ works with
the same technical principle as the converter for 2/3“
cameras. The design is similar and all accessories for
the 2/3“ version work as well as with the PRO35 1/2“.
The PRO35 1/2“ is marked with a large 1/2” engraving
to distinguish it from the 2/3” version.

The Mini35 was the start for a whole product range
and because of its high quality design and maximum
modular product structure, it has proofed itself as very
time-enduring product. Consisting of a basic unit and

Interchangeable Mount System (IMS)
P+S Technik developed an Interchangeable Mount
System to make available the greatest number of
lenses possible for its products. P+S Technik offers
eight different IMS mounts to be used with the MINI35
Image Converter: PL, Nikon F, Panavision, Canon EF
and FD, BNC-R, Leica-R and Zeiss-Contax. All these
mounts are also available for the PRO35, but then they
are screwed onto the converter. New is the re-design
Professional F Mount with clamp ring for max. stability.
35DIGITAL Lens Set
These Nikon F mounted lenses consisting of a 25 mm/
T2.8, 35 mm/T2.0, 50 mm/T1.4 and an 85 mm/T1.4.
P+S Technik re-housed Zeiss lenses to fit them in the
existing world of film and video accessories like follow
focus, lens and matte boxes. Each lens is equipped
with a standard 0.8 gear ring and has an 80 mm front
lens diameter. Scales are available in meter and feet.
ClipGear Focus Rings
The P+S Technik ClipGear Focus Rings are designed
to equip standard manual photo lenses with a 0.8
module gear in order to use them with lens motors or
follow focus systems. They are very easy to mount and
leave no marks on the lens when removed. Geared still
photography lenses work perfectly in combination with
the P+S Technik Image Converters.
