How To Apply
Ifield students
Prior to the Sixth Form Open Day in November you will
have the opportunity to look through this prospectus
with your form tutor and parents. The Open Day will
enable you to discuss your options with the individual
subject teachers and gain further information about all
the courses on offer.
You will then be asked to complete the enclosed
application form. Sixth Form tutors will be available to
offer any advice needed. The application form, with
your first choice of courses, must be returned to your
form tutor by the end of December.
In January, you will receive confirmation of your
application to the Sixth Form for 2013/2014. You will
then be offered an interview with one of the Sixth Form
Team to ensure your courses match your plans for the
future and to discuss your mock exam results.
Finally, you will receive a letter in the Spring Term which
notifies you of our decision, listing any changes made
during your interview and stating that your application is
dependant on your GCSE results.
Students new to the college
Students wishing to apply for a place at Ifield are
advised to attend the Sixth Form Open Evening. This
will give you the opportunity to speak to the teachers
here at Ifield and to meet the team.
Your completed application form will need to be
submitted to the college by the end of the autumn
term. Following receipt of this form, you will be offered
an interview with one of the team. After the process,
you will receive a letter notifying you of our decision.
Late applications
Applications will be accepted during the spring and
summer term. However, you should be aware that
by this stage some courses may be full.
Disclaimer
There may be times when courses cannot be offered,
either because of staffing or student numbers.
Therefore, Ifield Community College reserves the
right to change or cancel any courses listed in this
prospectus.
AS Blocks – Provisional 29/05/12
It is not possible for every subject to be available during every
lesson on the timetable. Therefore, some subjects are taught
at the same time as others.
The table above shows which subjects clash in the AS
timetable 2012/13. As you can see AS Art textiles (in block A)
clashes with AS English literature (also in block A). Therefore,
we would strongly recommend that subjects in the same block
are not applied for. If two clashing subjects are chosen you
may have to change your options.
The blocks vary from year to year depending on demand
and resources.
