Mr. Robert MacDonald
President/General Manager
www.gidneyfisheries.ca
Gidney Fisheries Limited, located on Digby Neck, Nova Scotia, Canada, is a wholesaler and
worldwide exporter of live lobster and seafood. We promise to deliver the highest quality of
premium hard shell Atlantic lobster and the freshest seafood products available.
Quality Lobster

Hard shell premium Gidney lobsters (Homarus Americanus) are a healthier and stronger
species because of their migration areas in the cold waters of Bay of Fundy and Saint Mary's
Bay Nova Scotia.
We have the highest quality lobster in the world.
Our people know lobster and our strict quality control measures ensure only the best
lobsters reach our customers.
We complete daily blood protein analysis on our lobsters to measure the blood protein
levels that show biological maturity ensuring that our lobster will live well in our facility and
live long and well for our customers after international shipment. This applied lobster
science confirms that our lobsters are the highest quality with the highest blood protein
levels in the industry.
A healthier stronger lobster stays alive longer. With less mortality rates you get better value
with Gidney lobsters.
A healthier lobster has a higher ratio of meat to shell which means better value. A hard shell
Gidney lobster can have up to 50% more meat then a non-hard shell lobster.
Our facility's location on the shore of the Bay of Fundy guarantees naturally cold pristine
ocean water and a year round supply. Our new facility will hold approximately 100,000
pounds of live lobster in a temperature controlled, oxygen, ammonia and salinity monitored
environment.
Our facility is close to the supply. We buy directly from fishermen who have a long history if
properly handling lobster. A shorten supply chain guarantees quality.
We are dedicated to sustainability. We have a long family history of protecting the
resources that support our communities.
Stark Oil
Mr. Scott MacEachern
President
www.starkoil.com
STARK experience and expertise lies in the prediction, prevention and correction of transformer
aging and loading issues. We have the experience, expertise, and resources to inspect, test,
diagnose and service electrical transformers and other dielectric fluid filled electrical devices (Load
Tap Changers, Reactors, Oil Filled Circuit Breakers, etc.). We offer education and service to clients
so they can better understand their own transformer maintenance requirements, the best course of
action to take and how STARK services will help increase the useful life of their transformers.
Oil and Transformer Services
Transformers represent one of the largest investments in a utility's system. As loads increase and
transformers age more attention should be given to protect these assets. At the core of STARK
International are our Transformer Services. Using state-of-the-art technology we provide a variety
of transformer services that range from expert on-site inspection (transformer repair, insulating oil
services, transformer commissioning, oil sampling and diagnostics and PCB services) to in-house
laboratory services (dissolved gas analysis, insulating fluid quality, moisture content, oxidation
inhibitor content, etc). The image below is a simplified, graphical representation of these core
services.
NSBI 2012 Mission to UAE and QATAR – February 17-24, 2012
MISSION DELEGATES PROFILES
Products and Services
Transformer Service
It's more than a little meaningful that Benjamin Franklin, famous for his electricity theories, is
responsible for the old saying "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". For when it
comes to oil-filled power transformers, an ounce of prevention is worth far more than a pound of
cure.
Drawing on more than 15 years of transformer experience, STARK International has been helping
utilities and large industrial clients inject an ounce of prevention into their transformer
maintenance programs. Through careful monitoring, investigation and repair services, STARK has
developed a full-service transformer maintenance program.
The STARK transformer maintenance program is designed to extend the reliable life of oil-filled
transformers and to maximize their performance. The cornerstone of our proactive maintenance
approach centers on the oil found within the transformer. Regular analysis of the oil found within a
transformer can and will identify factors that reduce life expectancy as well as issues that
compromise performance. STARK professionals prepare a careful analysis and interpretation of test
data as well as concise maintenance recommendations where required. Providing an accurate
assessment of how the transformer is operating ensures that every maintenance dollar is
maximized.
Building on the foundation of the oil diagnosis, STARK also provides a complete offering of
transformer repair and oil processing services. Extending the serviceable life of transformer oil is a
key factor in extending the reliable life of a transformer. Transformer oil is an organic hydrocarbon
commonly known as mineral oil. All organic compounds are susceptible to molecular
decomposition in the presence of oxygen. The rate, at which organic compounds breakdown, or
decay, is directly related to the environment in which they are subject to. In the case of an
operating transformer, elevated temperatures, moisture and constant electrical stress tends to
accelerate the natural decay of the oil. STARK offers a number of oil treatments designed to rectify
these and other problems.
Oil Diagnostic Analysis
STARK is an industry leader in oil diagnostics. The STARK Diagnostic System provides a reliable
snapshot of the overall internal health of the transformer, and identifies any remedial action
required to prevent a predictable failure. Its benefit is that it allows you to intervene at key
benchmarks to substantially extend the reliable life of your units up to two or three times.
The STARK Diagnostic Assessment System is available in several report options. Depending on the
option you select the report will:

Identify any urgent issues requiring immediate attention
Provide you with a detailed action plan outlining steps to be taken to maintain and extend
the life of your transformer
Include proactive maintenance recommendations intended to reduce downtime and
increase longevity and reliability
Identify the reliability of your unit by assessing the oil and gas in the oil data
Help you develop long-range maintenance plans and budgetary forecasts
Reduce or eliminate predictable premature equipment repairs and replacements
In addition, we regularly work with our clients one-on-one providing an on-going resource of
transformer technical expertise.
STARK oil diagnostic professionals maintain the history of your oil data and will organize and
categorize your data in an intelligible manner. This data will be presented to you in one of the
following options: Diagnostic Report, Transformer Fleet Assessment Report, or the Transformer
Fleet Life Assessment Report.
Nova Scotia Department of Environment
Waste Resource Management Institute (WRMI)
Mr. Robert Kenney, Recycling Development Officer
www.gov.ns.ca/nse/trade/resources.asp
Nova Scotia’s Department of Environment has more than 250 staff in offices throughout the
province. Its responsibilities include the assessment of projects that could have an adverse impact
on the environment; monitoring environmentally sensitive activities; the sustainable management
and protection of air, land, and water resources; solid waste management and the promotion of
Nova Scotia’s environmental services and products. The Department’s Sustainable Prosperity
Partnerships division is currently leading the development of a solid waste-resource management
institute. The institute will be a partnership of government, academia and industry offering training
and research in the innovative management of waste as a resource.
WASTE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (WRMI)
The Waste Resource Management Institute is a partnership of Nova Scotia Environment,
Acadia University and Nova Scotia Community College. WRMI envisions providing world class
training and research in all aspects of leading edge waste resource management systems.
The first WRMI course was held in Trinidad and Tobago the first week of September 2010 and an
Organics Diversion Course was held last August 9-13, 2010 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is envisioned
that the Institute will host courses in subjects such as composting, collection methods, markets,
policies including extended producer responsibility (also known as stewardship),
education/participation/awareness, landfill design and operation, tire recycling, system financing,
business development, new technologies/research and development, measuring success, etc. The
courses will include everything from theory to operations, including visits to sites in Nova Scotia.
NOVA SCOTIA – A WORLD LEADER IN RECYCLING AND COMPOSTING
Nova Scotia, Canada, set a course in 1996 that changed the way the province views solid
waste. Today, the Province hosts a thriving composting industry, almost 20 composting
facilities and a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share! Waste is now considered a
resource that is used to create products, green jobs and reduce environmental impacts.

Nova Scotia’s composting rate is almost 200% higher than the Canadian average
Nova Scotia’s waste disposal rate is 50% lower than the Canadian average
Nova Scotia’s residential recycling rate is 68% higher than the Canadian average
100% of residents have access to the curb side collection of paper and containers
90% of residents have access to the curb side collection of food and yard waste
The number of jobs in the waste management sector increased more than 50% since
the original solid waste resource management strategy was initiated
