ROBERT P KELLY – Chancellor. One of North America’s leading<br />

financiers, Dr. Kelly was sworn in as Chancellor for <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>University</strong><br />

during Fall Convocation. He is Chairman/CEO of BNY Mellon and graduated<br />

from <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s in 1975. He has been a good friend of the <strong>University</strong> for<br />

many years, offering counsel to administrators and speaking to students at<br />

<strong>University</strong> events like the Turning Points in Leadership Dinner. As Chancellor,<br />

he will act as key ambassador and advocate for <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s globally and<br />

preside over a number of ceremonial events on campus.<br />

DR. RUSSELL FRALICH – Management Professor. An engineer by training,<br />

Fralich spent 14 years working on the business management side of the<br />

telecom industry in Canada, Germany and Sweden. Before coming to <strong>Saint</strong><br />

Mary’s he returned to school in Montreal and got his Ph.D at HEC Montreal.<br />

He teaches and researches in the area of strategic management.<br />

MARIE BRASWELL – Associate Registrar, Recruitment and Admissions.<br />

Braswell comes to the <strong>University</strong> from George Brown College in Toronto<br />

where she served as Manager, Liaison and Recruitment, Marketing and<br />

Communications. Before joining George Brown, she held a number of positions,<br />

including College Prep Coordinator at the Nova Scotia Community College.<br />

VALERIE WADMAN – Occupational Health Safety and Wellness Officer.<br />

Wadman is a safety professional who spent 27 years working with the<br />

Province of Nova Scotia before coming to <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s. She worked in<br />

several departments, but has dealt exclusively with safety issues since 1998.<br />

She has numerous federal and provincial safety certifications. As the OH&S<br />

and Wellness Officer she ensures compliance with current safety legislation,<br />

standards and codes of practice.<br />

JOHN MEASOR – Assistant Professor, Political Science. Measor has<br />

previously taught at the <strong>University</strong> of Montana and <strong>University</strong> of Victoria. He<br />

teaches Comparative Politics, but his research focus is the Modern Middle East.<br />

DR. DAVID GAUTHIER – Vice-President Academic and Research.<br />

Dr. Gauthier joins <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s after 25 years at the <strong>University</strong> of Regina where<br />

he served as a professor, researcher and senior administrator. He is a geographer<br />

by discipline and has authored over 140 publications and received more than<br />

121 academic awards, grants and contracts. He is a Canadian representative on<br />

the World Commission on Protected Areas and has organized and facilitated<br />

numerous conservation conferences, symposia and workshops.<br />

LONNIE RATCHFORD – Manager of Security. A life-long interest in<br />

law enforcement and education drew Ratchford to <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s. The New<br />

Waterford native joined the <strong>University</strong> in July after a 21-year career with the<br />

Toronto Police Force. He held a number of positions with the Ontario force,<br />

but spent the last five in charge of the operations unit of the detectives in<br />

the drug squad. As Security Manager, he supervises eight full-time staff and<br />

between 30 and 50 student security officers.<br />

STEVE PROCTOR – Communications Manager. A journalist and author,<br />

Proctor joined <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s after a 25 year career with The Chronicle Herald,<br />

the largest daily newspaper east of Montreal. He spent the last seven years as<br />

Business Editor. He has written two books and his articles continue to appear<br />

in regional and national magazines.<br />
