“s” series ice machines
awarded the 2007 “best in class”
energy mizer
more efficient. less engergy.
Long before energy
consumption
and conservation
of the environment
became “hot
topics”, Manitowoc
Foodservice Group was quietly providing
energy efficient and environmentally friendly
equipment solutions to the foodservice industry;
not because it was mandated, but because
it represented good business practices—for us,
as well as for our customers. And now, decades
later as the leading ice machine manufacturer
in the United States, we continue to reinvent
ourselves with even higher levels of achievement.
The introduction of the Manitowoc S-
Series ice machines in 2003 put Manitowoc
on the cutting edge of energy efficiency and
conservation in commercial ice machines.
With an average 25% increase in efficiency
over competitive models, we set a new benchmark
for others to follow.
New Tier 3 energy efficient ice machines
are right around the corner. Leading the way is
Manitowoc’s S-Series 1470C. With Manitowoc’s
innovative QuietQube® technology, the
1470C is 75% quieter than standard remotes
due to the compressor and the condenser fan
motor being housed in a remote condensing
unit located away from the ice machine head
section. The new S-Series 1470C is one of the
first ice machines to meet the stringent Tier 3
energy efficiency specifications of the Consortium
for Energy Efficiency (CEE).
In addition to offering energy efficient
equipment, we are also concerned about the
materials that go into our products. Manitowoc
Foodservice Group recently completed an
extensive study on the environmental impact
of the industry’s current foaming agents and
has concluded that in many cases an alternative,
water based foam is the best choice for
2 visit us online at: www.southcentralfse.com
it’s global standards. The most recent efforts
involve the adoption of an environmentally
friendly foaming agent—water, which is con
sidered to have zero direct global warming potential
and is completely free of any concerns
over toxicity, flammability, or worker safety.
Recently, we introduced our new Energy-
Mizer logo. This logo is intended to be used
as a general “mark” of energy efficiency. If you
see EnergyMizer on the outside, you can be
assured that there’s energy saving technologies
on the inside.
Manitowoc Foodservice Group makes it
easy for you to be energy efficient. We have
always been committed to finding new ways to
build energy efficiency and dependability into
all products. Now, you don’t have to settle for
one or the other.
Visit our foodservice group website at
www.manitowocfsg.com for a list of foodservice
products that meet EnergyMizer standards.
iso 9001:2000
Manitowoc Ice, Inc. was the first U.S.
manufacturer of commercial icemakers
to receive
ISO 9001 certification.
Manitowoc
received its certificate
of registration
on February 13, 1995, for the design
and manufacture of commercial ice
machines, bins, dispensers, and reachin
refrigerators and freezers. Certification
guarantees internal control
of the company’s quality system and
ensures consistency in every process.
In addition, continuous improvement
and corrective action requirements assure
that the company meets customer’s
needs and delivers the highest quality product
at the most cost effective price. Manitowoc’s
registration is applicable under Quality System
Standard 9001, the most comprehensive

standard in the international community
and it includes the design, manufacture
and support of all products. In 2003,
Manitowoc Ice was granted certification
to the next highest level of ISO Standard
9001:2000.
ari certification
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
Institute (ARI) is the association
representing manufacturers
of refrigeration, air
conditioning and heating
equipment. ARI administers
a standardized
rating program in which an independent
laboratory verifies that each product of
the ARI membership delivers the performance
that its manufacturer claims.
As a result, the ARI rating system gives
customers direct
comparisons among similar types of
equipment whose reliability and performance
have been thoroughly documented
based on quantitative and objective
standards.
Review the ARI performance ratings
whenever you evaluate ice-making
equipment. Some manufacturers choose
to publish a non-ARI certified “application
or nominal capacity rating.” For
comparison purposes multiply Manitowoc
ARI capacity ratings by 1.3 (30%)
to approximate these “application/nominal”
capacities.
sanitation
We’ve made it simPle to clean.
We took great care in designing the food zone
of our S-Series, giving added attention to sanitation
by making the machine easier to clean,
reducing maintenance costs and extending
operating life.
savings
the Perfect balance of PoWer
and efficiency.
We matched the compressor to work in tandem
with each evaporator size. On certain models,
we further improved efficiency by incorporating
our air assist ice removal technology. This cuts
the time required to harvest ice in half.
sound
designed to run WhisPer-quiet.
We mounted the compressor on its own raised
platform, isolating any associated vibration. We
also constructed the machine base and food
zone cabinet from injection-molded plastic
and filled it with foam. The foam dampens
any noise generated from inside the machine.
Together, these smart design decisions produce
a quiet ice machine.
serviceability
easy access means less
doWntime.
Getting to components is easy. Front doors
allow quick, easy access to the food zone and to
the enhanced electrical system with common
control board. In addition, no-tools removal of
main components reduces cleaning time and
keeps downtime to a minimum.

Patented cleaning &
sanitizing technology
Cleaning an ice machine’s water-distribution
system has always been an essential, but laborious,
part of routine maintenance. Keeping
an ice machine’s water-distribution system free
of lime deposits and mineral scale is important.
A clean machine operates more reliably,
produces more ice, uses less energy and lasts
longer than one hampered by lime and scale.
And as water conditions deteriorate throughout
most areas of the United States, the need
for proper cleaning of an ice machine’s water
distribution system continues to become more
and more important.
standard, cleaning system
To simplify maintenance, all Manitowoc ice
machines have an exclusive, patented, technology
that cleans or sanitizes the ice machine’s
water-distribution system in just 24 minutes.
Standard on all ice machines, this technically
reduces cleaning effort to simply flipping a
switch and pouring in a few ounces of cleaner
or sanitizer.
oPtional, automatic cleaning
guardian ®
Slime is a leading cause of ice machine breakdowns
and biological growth is a health
concern. Manitowoc’s exclusive Guardian®
Accessory is patented technology that releases
chlorine dioxide on a controlled basis to inhibit
the growth of bacteria and fungi that form
slime and cause odors in the food zone of ice
machines. It is not uncommon to perform a
monthly manual cleaning of an ice machine
to remove slime. Professional cleaning will
typically cost $160 on average. Manitowoc’s
Guardian can extend slime cleaning effectiveness
by up to six times the normal frequency...6
months instead of one. The Guardian
Accessory consists of Manitowoc’s patented
sachet housing and chemical sachet refill.

quietqube ® ice machines
the quietest ice cube
machine ever made.
Seventy-five percent quieter than a selfcontained
or standard remote ice machine.
Currently there are two kinds of air-cooled ice
machines. One kind is a self-contained unit
with all the components necessary to make
ice located within the machine. The other
kind is a remote air-cooled machine where the
condenser is placed outside the building. That
makes it a little quieter than a self-contained
model. But the Manitowoc QuietQube®
remote is over 75% quieter than that...the
quietest ever made.
a neW Way to make ice
Manitowoc uses an exclusive, technology that
puts the compressor and condenser fan motor
on the roof. Our patented CVD technology®
uses cool vapor rather than hot gas to harvest
ice. It not only makes QuietQube ice machines
the quietest ever; it makes them more reliable,
makes them efficient, and provides high levels
of ice production too.
You design the service and dining room areas
to create a relaxing atmosphere. The noise
from a traditional ice machine can destroy
that atmosphere. Consider how much noise
customers and employees face in your operation...and
how much more energetic and more
inviting your operation would be with a quiet
ice machine.
10 visit us online at: www.southcentralfse.com
Patented cvd technology ®
CVD® (Cool Vapor Defrost) technology is
basically a different type of ice harvest system
that allows Manitowoc to move the compressor
out of the customer environment.
Standard remote condenser ice machines all
use compressor hot gas systems to heat the
evaporator during their ice harvest cycles. To
make hot gas systems work, the compressor
must be as physically close to the ice making
evaporator as possible. This also means the
noise from the compressor is always concentrated
at the ice making part of the system.
This is not something you want in a customer
environment.
Manitowoc CVD ice machines use vapor
refrigerant from the receiver tank to harvest
the ice. The receiver tank is a refrigerant storage
tank typically used on all remote ice machines
and can be a source of vapor refrigerant
for a harvest cycle if the system is configured
correctly. CVD systems all use large capacity
refrigerant accumulators for maximum
compressor protection under any operating
condition. Compressor and condenser heat
and noise is always located outside away from
the customer environment.

“s” series ice machines
flake ice machines
Manitowoc offers traditional flake ice. Flake
ice is small, hard bits of ice.
Manitowoc’s flake ice machine is a result
of a collaboration with the highly respected
German-based ice machine manufacturer,
Ziegra (Z-gra) Eismaschinen. Ziegra has
specialized in the manufacture of ice machines
since 1957 and has sold their equipment to
more than 140 countries.
Manitowoc models feature the highest
degree of engineering of any flaker system
available on the market and include a German
engineered stainless steel evaporator; double
bearing support of the auger which reduces
maintenance and prolongs the life of the
internal components; a split collar evaporator
support and aligned draft coupling to improve
water seal and bearing reliability.
No matter what type of application you
have for flake ice, Manitowoc is there to serve
your need. Manitowoc flake ice provides a
leading ice-to-water ratio which prevents the
ice from clinging to the items it cools. Manitowoc
offers a diverse lineup of flake ice machines,
ranging from the QF-400 under-counter
flaker to the largest of our modular flake
ice machines, the SF-1200. Manitowoc flake
ice machine models include built-in patented
cleaning and sanitizing technology.
ice usage guide
sizing
In any business, ice needs are rarely uniform.
For example, more ice is needed in
summer than in winter and on weekends
than on weekdays. Size your Manitowoc ice
machine and storage bin to meet your peak
needs.
Avoid sizing a new ice machine solely
on the performance of your present equipment.
The age and mechanical condition
of your present ice machine may mislead
you in determining the production capacity
you need. Remember, surrounding air
and incoming water temperatures affect the
quantity of ice a machine produces.
Determine what these temperatures
will be during times of peak usage, then
verify your selection from the machine’s
production chart. The Ice Usage Guide will
help you calculate your production requirements
based on your peak needs. After calculating
how much ice you expect to need,
add 20% to accommodate future business
growth. Taking the time to correctly size ice
making equipment assures ample ice supply
during peak periods.
installation hints
dimensions
Be sure components will fit through doorways,
down halls, and into the installation
space. Once installed, most ice machines
must have at least 5” to 8” of clearance
above, behind and on both sides.
location
Locate the ice machine in an area where the
ambient air temperature stays between 35°
F and 110° F. Electrical and water connections
must be within 6’ of the ice machine.
Connections must meet local, state, and
national codes.
Plumbing requirements
ɢ Ice machine must be connected to cold
water supply.
ɢ Water temperature: minimum 33° F,
maximum 90° F.
ɢ Ice making water pressure: minimum
20 psi, maximum 80 psi.
ɢ Condenser water pressure (water-
cooled models): minimum 20 psi,
maximum 150 psi.
ɢ Use separate drain lines for ice machine
and storage bin.
ɢ Ice machine drain tubing: 1⁄2” mini-
mum I.D.
ɢ Bin drain tubing 3⁄4” minimum I.D.
ɢ Ice-making water drain and bin drain
must be vented to the atmosphere. Do
not vent condenser drain on watercooled
models.
eWed beverage filters
Aqua-Pure filters for brewed beverage
applications reduce excess chlorine, sediment
and organic residuals that cause bitter
tasting coffee, espresso or tea and clog spray
heads. If not filtered these residuals can
wreak havoc on your equipment and lead
to expensive replacement costs.
When scale build-up is an issue, Aqua-
Pure BREW Systems add scale inhibitors
to help prevent the precipitation of calcium
and magnesium salts that can significantly
decrease efficiency and increase maintenance
costs.
Aqua-Pure ESP and Pro (SGP) systems
reduce calcium and magnesium ions
by ion exchange for crystal clear iced tea
and for perfect bean extraction for espresso
and espresso-based beverages.
features
ɢ BREW systems add scale inhibitors for
improved build-up reduction.
ɢ ESP and SGP systems soften water for
espresso without the need for a drain,
electrical connections, or salt regeneration.
ɢ Are equipped with a valve-in-head that
requires both lower inlet water pressure
and delivers Sanitary Quick Change
cartridge convenience for fast and easy
cartridge change-outs. Inlet water is
turned off automatically when the cartridge
is replaced.
scale
Aqua-Pure ScaleGard® SF165 helps protect
steamers, coffee and espresso brewers,
and ice machines from the harmful effects
of scale formation at temperatures up to
and exceeding 200º F (93º C). The SF165
is a combination system. A SF18-S scale
feeder carefully meters the right proportion
of high-temperature scale inhibitor
into water filtered through an Aqua-Pure
cartridge with (“IMPACT”) media.
WareWashing filters
The HWS series of warewashing water
softener systems are designed to reduce
spotting on dishes, glasses and flatware, as
well as to reduce scale build-up on dishwasher
spray nozzles and compartments.
A high capacity, high temperature resistant
resin provides the ability to remove calcium
and magnesium minerals that cause
white spots on dishware. This “softened”
water also reduces hard scale build-up on
dish machine walls and nozzles, which
can reduce performance and equipment
life. Softened water also allows detergents
to work more efficiently, reducing excess
chemical consumption.
combi-ovens and steamer
system filters
The CFS series water filtration system is
uniquely designed to produce consistent
quality water for the specific reduction
of scale causing minerals in high volume
boiler-based steamer applications. The CFS
series membrane is designed to reject over
96% of minerals that cause scale build-up
and equipment problems. Activated carbon
and graded density pretreatment protect
the RO membrane. The post-treatment
filters adjust the product water to allow
electronic probes to function correctly in
water conditions up to 2,000 ppm TDS.
Windrunner ® technology
the exclusive air disPlacement
Process
Windrunner® is a dramatically different way
of circulating air within a refrigerated cabinet.
Refrigerated air is not blasted directly into the
cabinet, but directed into McCall’s exclusive
horizontal air diffusion plenum at the top.
Openings and louvers in the surface of the
plenum direct the air into low velocity individual
streams moving throughout the cabinet
in a way never before possible. A damper
directs the rest of the flow down the side of
the cabinet to the bottom and across.Warmer
air is displaced to rise up the other side of the
cabinet and out of the unit.
no Warm sPots! no dead sPots!
Windrunner® sets new standards in achieving:
ɢ Uniform Temperatures throughout the
cabinet with an average variance of less
than 2° F throughout.
ɢ Reduced Pulldown Time. Food remains
fresher longer and wastage is reduced
while meeting Health Department requirements.
ɢ Reduced Compressor Running Time.
Since the cooling process is more efficient,
the motor runs less often, for shorter periods,
saving electrical costs and extending
the life of the equipment.
ɢ Decreased Outside Air Intrusion. Unifor-
mity of air flow and temperature works to
prevent low pressure spots where outside
air can more easily enter when the door is
opened.
The RDI PC system offers you many advantages.
By eliminating the pre-charged line sets
and quick connects, available on the PCL system,
we are able to provide the PC condensing
units with a full charge of refrigerant* in units
up 15 HP. Installer must provide refrigerant
lines between the evaporator assembly. Once
the evaporator and lines are evacuated and
leak checked, the base valve, provided on the
PC condensing unit, can be opened to supply
refrigerant to the system. The electrician
must bring power to both the condensing unit
assembly and evaporator assembly. On low
temperature systems the time clock is shipped
loose and is to be field installed in a convenient
location outside the walk-in.
There’s a lot to take into account when
selecting walk-in coolers and freezers. One
size doesn’t fit all—you need the right
dimensions, details and accessories to find
a walk-in that will be right for your operation.
A Harford walk-in is created to suit
your exact needs. To make that possible, we
start with sectional panels that can be configured
to create exactly the walk-in you require,
in virtually any shape or dimensions.
Those panels are fabricated with durable
skins—you’ll choose the variety of metal
that’s best for you—sandwiched around
a four-inch thickness of super-insulating
poured-foam urethane. The panels are supported
by a durable floor of the same basic
construction, and complemented by exactly
the accessories you need.
When it’s finished,
you’ll have a
walk-in that’s truly
tailored to
No one surpasses Harford’s quality and
experience, which are expressed in every
part of our walk-ins. Uncompromising
quality and non-stop attention to detail
are the most important features you’ll find
in a Harford walk-in. Every structure we
manufacture includes only the finest of
materials and is produced by a team that
takes extraordinary pride in their work.
Harford works extra hard to ensure ontime
delivery with a sophisticated tracking
system that monitors the progress of your
order through every stage of manufacturing.
The result is a structure that arrives onschedule,
assembles easily, and will perform
exactly as you expect today,
servend
ice and beverage dispensers
Servend is a leading brand of ice and beverage
dispensing equipment for the foodservice
industry. Servend grew from a small manufacturing
facility in the early 1980’s where three
employees spent one day building a single ice/
beverage unit, to a 150,000 square foot of
world class manufacturing and research facility
area employing over 200 employees who build
hundreds of units per day that are distributed
throughout the world. Servend revolutionized
the ice dispensing industry with innovations
such as the patented “U-Shape” bin liner and
“paddle wheel” that maximizes ice storage, ice
delivery and efficiency, and the “rocking chute”
ice dispense mechanism which helps eliminate
ice waste and spillage. Additional innovations
include a manual-fill area for top-mounted ice
machine applications, giant lightbox merchandisers
for better graphic display, and hardplumbed
drink lines to significantly reduce
leak points. The Servend product line includes
ice, ice/beverage and juice countertop dispensers,
drop-in and countertop electric beverage
dispensers, ice chests, and numerous dispenser
accessories.
iso certification
The Manitowoc QuietQube Ice/Beverage
Series ice machine is a design breakthrough
that directly addresses the leading concerns in
the foodservice industry—sanitation and food
safety. The size and weight of traditional icemaking
machines makes the periodic sanitation
and maintenance of beverage dispensers
extremely difficult and time consuming. With
a narrow depth (only 14 inches (35.56 cm)
versus standard models that are 23 inches
(58.42 cm) deep) the Manitowoc Ice/Beverage
Series provides the operator with easy access
to the inside of thedispenser for cleaning,
sanitizing, and maintenance.
This unique capability is made possible by
Manitowoc’s patented CVD (Cool Vapor Defrost)
technology which results in an extremely
compact design and allows the machine to
operate with virtually no noise or heat.
The resulting narrow 14 inch (35.56 cm)
depth of the Ice/Beverage ice machine allows
ice machines
ice/beverage series
the ice dispenser to be cleaned with the ice
maker in place. It also provides a large open
front access area that permits convenient manual
loading of ice in the ice dispenser should
the need arise. The Ice/Beverage unit will not
obstruct sight lines and can be installed or
retrofitted to virtually any commercial beverage
dispenser.
This compact Ice/Beverage Series ice machine
is available in high volume ice production
capacities to satisfy nearly every beverage
dispenser application at Quick Service Restaurants,
convenience stores, recreational, or
educational foodservice operations.
The Ice/Beverage QuietQube Series
remote system consists of an ice machine head
interconnecting refrigerant lines. All ordered
separately. The Ice/Beverage ice machine is
Multiplex® Soda Factory provides the
most consistent, high quality drinks at
the most economical cost of any beverage
dispensing system. Here’s why:
more efficient cooling
Multiplex recirculation post-mix systems
keep products chilled from the remote
location of the refrigeration unit to the
these remote systems can provide chilled
With Peak demand
Many beverage systems simply can’t keep
pace with peak demands caused by the
increasing popularity of 32 ounce (.95
liter) and 44 ounce (1.3 liter) beverage
sizes. Multiplex dispensing systems have
the capacity needed to keep quality drinks
flowing under the heaviest demand loads.
highest quality drinks
Greater cooling capacity maintains constant
temperature control to assure consistent
quality, even when the unit has been
idle. This continuous quality control cuts
syrup waste as well. Cold carbonation provides
bottle quality from the fountain. The
Multiplex® Beermaster long draw draught
beer systems beat the competition cold.
Here’s why...
colder beer–every time
Chilled beer flows from cooler to tap
through the best insulated conduit in the
industry. From the first beer served, this
system delivers the ice cold beer your customers
demand.
sPace-saving oPeration
All kegs and the refrigeration unit can be
placed in one remote location, up to hundreds
of feet away from dispensing towers.
Frees up valuable space under the bar and
in the serving area for more productive
uses.
smoother bar oPerations
Eliminates disruption problems of replacing
kegs in the crowded bar area. Everything
is out of the way in one remote cooling
center. Changeover valve lets you move
from empty keg to a full one with just a flip
of a switch.
increases yields
More efficient cooling system means less
foam, less waste, more beer dispensed per
keg—more profits for you. Out-of-product
device automatically prevents filling the line
with foam from the bottom of near-empty
kegs—saving you money.
to carry kegs, CO2, etc. upstairs to your
serving area.
