Proceeds that Serve People and Pets of the Eastern Townships
All of the proceeds that come from the selling of licences are devoted to the multiple services
offered by the Eastern Townships SPA to residents and animals of the region. Every year,
these proceeds allow the SPA to:
take in, provide shelter for and feed more than 7,000 lost or abandoned
animals and give health care to thousands of them;
spay or neuter more than 2,000 pets and find them a loving family
thanks to its adoption service;
reunite more than 1,000 lost pets with their guardians thanks
to its matching program for lost and found pets;
rescue wounded or distressed animals 24 hours a day,
365 days a year;
respond to about 15,000 requests from citizens;
intervene when animals cause nuisances and encourage the
responsible guardianship of pets through the enforcement
of municipal bylaws;
teach elementary school students the appropriate behaviour to
adopt with dogs in order to avoid being bitten.

Your Pet Is Missing?
Contact the SPA Right Away
The Eastern Townships SPA ID tag is, without a doubt,
the best way to identify your pet and to insure his or her
safety. However, as small as it may be, there is a risk
that your pet loses its ID tag.
That is why it is important to contact the SPA as soon as
you notice that your pet is missing. By reporting it right
away, you improve your chances of finding your
companion quickly.

PAYMENT OF THE LICENCE
The licence is valid from the 1 st of January to the
31 st of December and must be renewed at the
beginning of every year. To make sure you don’t
have to pay the $5 administrative fee per licence,
you must pay the renewal of the licence before
the 15 th of February 2012.
A New Companion?
A New Home?
Is there a new four-legged member in
your family? Did you recently move to a
municipality served by the Eastern Townships
SPA? According to the municipal bylaw, you
must register your pet within 15 days after his
or her arrival or after moving into your new
home.
To do so, you have three options:
Contact the SPA at 819 821-4727
(extension 4), Monday to Friday between
10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.;
Fill out the registration form at the
bottom of this page and send it back
to the SPA (do not pay the licence
immediately; you will receive an invoice
shortly). If you have more than one pet,
you can obtain this form at
www.spaestrie.qc.ca, under the
button “Se procurer une licence”
(on the right-hand side of the screen),
under the section “Enregistrement
d’un animal et obtention d’un médaillon”.
Visit the SPA shelter, Monday to Saturday
between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
