School of
Heritage, Tourism, Museology and Archaeology
Heritage, Tourism, Museology and Archaeology is an innovative teaching course in history in the dimension of conservation and
proliferation of art, culture and Indian heritage. The main attraction of the course would be that students shall not only get the theoretical
knowledge of art, culture and museum science but they would also get cherished opportunity to practically peep into the art culture and
different heritage sites.
Advance teaching in the area of
history of art, heritage and museum
needs proper attention and research
that will unfold many hidden facets.
st
At this juncture of 21 century, it
appears to be appropriate for us to
review the role of museums in
protection of heritage and to justify
the continuance and relevance of
museums in the rapidly transforming
society in projecting the various faces
of history and culture of Indian
people.
Over the last couple of decades, the
prospective of the study of history
have gradually changed. History is no
longer a mere study of past events but
its scope has broadened. Along with
the discoveries of new inscriptions,
relics, easier access to archives and
the numerous collections of private paper the hitherto neglected areas like regional studies have come to focus. The emphasis on
regional histories is all the more appropriate as besides preserving and compiling the local tradition culture they also complement the
reconstruction of national histories from earliest times to the present era. The architecture and sculpture, wealth of a region have enough
examples to prove that the people and the rulers both were great lover of art. The study of the tradition of Art in Hadoti helps in
reconstruction of history by making the people aware about the history, culture and socio religious factors of the region. This course is an
attempt to combine the study of Art and Heritage of Hadoti with Museum science.
Recently Govt. of Rajasthan recognized the functioning and grant for establishing School of Heritage, Tourism, Museology and
Archaeology in University of Kota and sanctioned many permanent faculty members (Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant
Professor etc.) and non-teaching staffs.
Soon we are going to start job oriented certificate as well as diploma courses in the field of Tourism, Museology and Archaeology. With
Heritage, Tourism, Museology and Archaeology you earn not just a degree but get inspired and motivated to conserve, protect and
preserve our Heritage.
38

OBJECTIVES
To combine the theoretical study of Indian art
and museum science with practical aspect of
theory in the most advanced way to develop
professional skills and overall personality of
the students.
To live up to the expectations of the changing
world, meet the demands of the society in
various fields of higher education.
To inculcate amongst the learners the love for
rich Indian culture , tradition art and heritage.
Innovative and liberal teaching of heritage history and
art combined together will provide essential wider
horizons for creative expressions by individuals.
Scopes
This is a career oriented course with huge employment
opportunity in the field of museum, tourism,
