Infrared Heater

Heat
& Humans
The sun, our source of life, provides us with heat and light. Sunlight is what
enables all creatures to live, complete their energy cycle, and grow. It warms our
bodies, even in winter, when it filters through the clouds. This doesn’t mean that
the earth suddenly warms up. We feel warm because the photons that sunlight is
made of transfer their energy to the surfaces they hit.
Sunlight is not just composed of visible light, but of infrared rays as well. These
rays are the most efficient for transferring heat and helping warm the Earth. The
operating principle of UFO infrared heaters is based on this phenomenon. The
heater begins emitting medium wave infrared rays in a mere 30 seconds.

The UFO Heater
Difference
The heating systems we use in our homes are generally grouped into two categories: convective (classical systems
which transfer heat by using air as a media) and radiant (systems which transfer heat by radiation). Convective heaters
transfer heat to surfaces through the movement of heated air from one place to another. This means that they need to
heat all the air in a given space in order to heat the environment. Depending on the volume of air, it may therefore take
several minutes for us to feel warm in an average size room. As convective heaters warm the air, they also dry it out,
reducing humidity.
UFO heaters are quite different from classical heating systems. They heat our bodies just like the sun heats our world,
delivering heat directly to our bodies, clothes and surrounding objects with the help of photons. Once heated, these
objects help heat the air in the entire room. In addition to this, the aluminum housings of UFO heaters act as convective
heaters and are effective in warming the ambient air. Since UFO heaters do not consume oxygen or burn any fuel (unlike
wood, coal, or gas heaters), they don’t cause headaches or odours, or release any particles into the air. Therefore, there
is no risk of intoxication.
UFO heater installation and operating costs are very low,
an additional benefit as energy costs continues their
steady increase. UFO infrared heaters begin heating in as
little as 30 seconds. Due to their high efficiency in transferring
heat, they reduce energy consumption and contribute
to saving the environment by using energy resources
efficiently. Since UFO units heat by infrared light, they are
not affected by wind or air flows and allow you to redirect
and control the heat produced. Not only will they keep you
warm indoors, they’ll also keep you warm outdoors. You
can use them comfortably and efficiently on your patio,
porch, or deck, or in your garage or workshop. Compared
to classical heating systems, UFO infrared heaters transfer
heat up to 80% more efficiently.
Depending on factors
such as room size, degree of
insulation, the season, and
so on, the efficiency rate may
be even higher.

UFO Power Consumption
Based on Regulator Levels
You can use your UFO more efficiently by adjusting
the regulator to the desired comfort level,
thus reducing your electricity bills. By setting
the regulator switch to the desired level, you
control your device so that it automatically turns
on and off within set time periods. When the
regulator switch is at its highest level, the heater
will operate continuously.
Note: The on/off duration may vary depending on the environment in which the heater is operated. The values of the table above are based on lab tests performed
in a normal, insulated room of 30 sq. meters (322 sq.ft) with an initial temperature of 18 ± 1 °C (64 °F). Actual temperatures may vary.

Correct and Efficient Use
of UFO Heaters
If your UFO is positioned directly above the area you wish to heat and pointed straight out, a significant quantity of heat will rise to the
ceiling. Tilt the heater downwards and aim it at the desired area to prevent heat loss to the ceiling.
7 3
Avoid mounting your UFO facing a window. If you do so, some of the infrared energy emitted by the heater will escape through the
window, causing heat loss.
In large spaces such as factories, workshops, stores, restaurants, and offices, aim your UFO toward areas where people are or will be
concentrated. Make sure that the area you want to heat is within the heating range of your heater.
7 3
In order to use your UFO more comfortably in your bedroom, do not mount it directly above your bed. For uniform heating, mount it
on the opposite wall or one of the side walls.

Correct and Efficient Use
of UFO Heaters
Mount your UFO at least 1.80 m (5’10”) from the floor in accordance with the distance from the ceiling and walls indicated in the User’s
Guide.
Mount your UFO at least 1 m (3’3 ft) away from flammable materials such as shower curtains, window curtains, etc. Make sure to leave
a distance of at least 1 m (3’3 ft) from bathtubs, showers, sinks, and any other areas with water.
Never use your UFO vertically or at an angle. Make sure that the heater is horizontal during operation. Misuse will cause the element
wire of your UFO to overheat and collapse on the lower side due to gravity. This will damage your heater.
7
3
7
When leaving a room or area, turn off your UFO heater. You can save more on your heating costs by using your heater this way.
Because your UFO begins heating within 30 seconds, there is no need to leave it on while you are not in the room. You can also
increase the efficiency of your heater by keeping the reflector clean.
When you use your UFO heater on the stand, make sure your heater is balanced and horizontal. Clamp the power cable on the back
of the stand, as it may pull down one side of the heater due to its weight and cause the heater to tilt to one side.

Uses of UFO Heaters
Places Where Local Heating is Necessary
Heating a specific room or space with infrared heat instead of
an entire area in a house or office using central heat significantly
decreases energy consumption. The UFO infrared heater is more
efficient and economical because it starts heating in as little as
30 seconds. Use your UFO heater in meeting rooms, hallways,
bathrooms, nurseries, home offices, restaurants, offices, and
more. In a 30 m 2 (322 sq. ft.) room that is rarely used, a UFO
heater will be more efficient and economical than a conventional
heater.
Even in large spaces, the areas people actually use may be quite
small compared to the total area size. In situations like this, it is
more efficient to provide local heat where people work or gather
than to heat the entire room. Examples include workspaces in
factories, showrooms, cashier desks, and restaurant tables.
Heating a workspace in a warehouse with a UFO infrared heater
is really more efficient and quick than heating it with a conventional
heater. For more, heating only spaces where customers
or employees are present is a more efficient way to use energy.
UFO Heaters in Locations
with Extensive Heat Loss
The heaters that you choose should be suitable for local heating
in locations where there is extensive heat loss due to poor insulation.
Since a UFO infrared heater does not use air to transfer
heat, it is up to 80% more efficient and cost-effective for heating
areas with extensive heat loss, such as construction sites,
workshops and garage.

Uses of UFO Heaters
Locations with High Ceilings
Heating large areas with high ceilings is one of the biggest
modern-day heating challenges. The installation and operation
of conventional heaters in such areas is a financial drain for
many establishments. Since UFO infrared heaters do not necessarily
heat the entire volume of air in a given space, they are a
highly energy efficient alternative for locations with high ceilings.
Locations with Ventilation
UFO infrared heaters are perfectly suited for areas that require
ventilation. Examples of such locations include conference
rooms, large shopping malls, bars, coffee shops, commercial
kitchens, chemical factories, etc. Since UFO heaters do not heat
the entire volume of air, heat losses due to the evacuation of hot
air outside are very limited compared to a conventional heating
system.
Locations that Need to be Heated
for a Certain Period of Time
Continuous heating of areas only used for part of the day takes a
long time and increases energy costs. UFO heaters are up to 100
times more efficient than conventional heaters in locations that
are only used at certain periods of the day, such as bathrooms,
dining rooms, conference halls, sports arenas, and more.

Uses of UFO Heaters
Locations with High Foot Traffic
Locations where doors are frequently opened and closed such
as restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, supermarkets, salons,
pharmacies, etc. are subjects to serious heat losses. Because
UFO heaters heat objects rather than the air directly, frequent
opening and closing of doors will not affect their heating capacity.
For example, a 40 m 2 (430 sq. ft.) retail store with high foot
traffic can be heated 2–3 times more efficiently with a UFO infrared
heater than with a conventional heater.
Open and Semi-Open Areas
UFO heaters heat objects and peoples directly with their infrared
radiation. Therefore, they are perfectly suited for outdoor use.
Conventional heaters are not very efficient for outdoor use because
they mainly heat air, which then rises and disappears without
heating people. Regular infrared heaters won’t do the job
outdoors either; they don’t have the same radiation wave length
as a UFO infrared heater, which transfers the heat energy most
efficiently to people. The reflection angle of UFO heaters reflector
is also designed to transfer infrared rays without diffraction to
the farthest target area.

The efficiency of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) heaters is rather
low, as they generate long wave radiation. These heaters only
work well for people seated very close to them, not at any distance.
Due to convection, much of the energy disperses without
reaching those sitting further away. These devices also bear
several safety risks. People sitting outside in a restaurant or
café will be disturbed by having a LPG tank next to them. LPG
heaters also generate combustion odours. UFO-E and UFO-I
heaters are produced in accordance with the IP34 (Ingress Protection)
Safety Classification code. All electrical components are
insulated against water, and the anodized surface, aluminum
reflector, and stainless steel interior parts are highly corrosion
resistant. Therefore, even if it rains, you can safely use these
heaters outdoors. Please note that remote controlled model is
not intended for outdoor use.
The table below contains information regarding the heating
areas and mounting distances for outdoor use of UFO heaters.
Because the outdoor heating area will vary depending on geographical
conditions such as outside temperatures and wind
speeds, these are given as minimum and maximum ranges.
Although the infrared rays of UFO heaters are not affected by
the wind or ambient temperature, people will feel colder in windy
weather. When temperature loss is high, more energy is required.
Some tests suggest that 150 to 300 watts of energy per square
meter (15–30 watts/sq. ft.) is enough to efficiently heat outdoors
with a UFO.
In the U.S., TUV Rheinland of North America is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), accredited by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration
(OSHA), and can legally certify products under U.S. national standards. Products tested and certified for the U.S. market by TUV Rheinland of
North America, Inc. will be identified by the TUVus mark.
The Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) Program is a part of OSHA’s Directorate of Technical Support. The Program recognizes private
sector organizations as NRTLs and recognition signifies that an organization has met the necessary qualifications specified in the regulations for the
Program. The NRTL determines that specific equipment and materials («products») meet consensus-based standards of safety to provide the assurance,
required by OSHA, that these products are safe for use in the U.S. market.
