CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security
(CCAFS)
Updated January 2013
This document outlines correct use of the CCAFS name and logo, as well as the correct way to
acknowledge the program in research outputs. This guide should be used together with the
CGIAR branding guidelines, which outlines the correct approach to using the CGIAR name and
logo.
Correct program name
Correct logo
The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change,
Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).
CCAFS has formally adopted a composite logo as seen
below. This logo has been approved by both the CGIAR
CGIAR is a name not an
acronym: Since the reform, the
CGIAR is no longer a ‘consultative
group’, and ‘CGIAR’ is no longer an
acronym that stands for the
‘Consultative Group on
International Agricultural
Research’. Consequently, ‘CGIAR’
should never be spelled out or
translated but promoted as a
recognizable name in itself. See
CGIAR branding guide for more
details
Consortium and the CCAFS Independent Science Panel. The new logo should be used on all new
CCAFS outputs from now on, and should also be replaced on websites.
The graphic files for this logo are available in the following formats: AI, PDF, TIF, PNG and JPG.
Contact points should download these files and share them with any researchers or center staff
who may require them for co-‐branded documents. The new logo has also been added to CCAFS
publications templates such as working papers and workshop reports, which are available on
the CCAFS intranet at http://intranet.ccafs.cgiar.org/SitePages/Publications.aspx
Acknowledgement and Disclaimer
The following is required acknowledgment and disclaimer text for all CCAFS-‐funded research
outputs, including peer-‐reviewed journal articles and publications issued by Centers.
General short version
This document is produced by the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change,
Version acknowledging bilateral funding
CCAFS Research outputs produced with bilateral funds should use a variation of the text below,
depending on the nature of the funding and the activity. Add or include correct donors as needed.
The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security
(CCAFS) is supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the
Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), the European Union (EU), with
technical support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Boilerplate text: General ‘about CCAFS’ text that can be used as needed
The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) is a
strategic partnership of CGIAR and Future Earth, led by the International Center for Tropical
Agriculture (CIAT). CCAFS brings together the world’s best researchers in agricultural science,
development research, climate science and Earth System science, to identify and address the
most important interactions, synergies and tradeoffs between climate change, agriculture and
food security. www.ccafs.cgiar.org.
[you can also add the following line if space allows]
CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried
out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with
hundreds of partner organizations. www.cgiar.org
Translations
Referring to CGIAR
‘CGIAR’ should be used as a name; it is not an acronym and should not be translated.
‘CGIAR’ no longer requires the definite article: it is ‘CGIAR’ not ‘the CGIAR’.
Correct French translation of CCAFS
Programme de recherche du CGIAR sur le changement climatique, l’agriculture et la
sécurité alimentaire
Correct Spanish translation of CCAFS
Programa de Investigación de CGIAR sobre Cambio Climático, Agricultura y Seguridad
Alimentaria
Note: avoid producing new acronyms based on the translations.
