Aqualusion Pool Rules<br />

For the safety of all pool users, we ask that participants adhere to<br />

the following rules. Rule infractions are cause for dismissal from the pool.<br />

1. Admittance is by membership (pass) or daily use fee. All persons<br />

entering the pool, including spectators, must pay a fee.<br />

2. Season pass holders must have their pass scanned by the front desk personnel in<br />

order to enter the locker room and pool area.<br />

3. Children 8 years and under must be under constant supervision of a person age<br />

16 years or older. For safety reasons, children may not be left unattended on<br />

the pool deck or in the concession areas.<br />

4. Children 5 years of age and older will not be permitted in the locker room of the<br />

opposite sex. Children must be prepared to change their clothing or walk through<br />

the locker room on their own, if necessary. When possible, the <strong>Park</strong> <strong>District</strong><br />

recommends that a parent or adult chaperone of the same sex accompany the<br />

child through the locker room.<br />

5. Lined bathing suits are required to enter water (unlined, mesh, or cut-off shorts,<br />

spandex, sports bras, boxer shorts, leotards, or T-shirts are not allowed).<br />

No boxers or compression shorts allowed underneath board shorts.<br />

6. Adults are given priority for chairs.<br />

7. Flotation devices/swimming aids, swimming suits with flotation devices, water<br />

wings, masks, snorkeling fins, noodles, or any type of balls are not allowed.<br />

8. Food and beverage are allowed only in the designated concession<br />

and grass area.<br />

9. Children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers or<br />

tight fitting plastic pants.<br />

10. Smoking and alcohol are prohibited at all <strong>Park</strong> <strong>District</strong> facilities.<br />

11. Strollers must be placed on grass areas only.<br />

12. Headfirst diving is only permitted from the diving board.<br />

13. Glass in any form is prohibited.<br />

14. No running on the pool deck.<br />

15. Children over 8 years old are not allowed in the zero depth pool (baby pool).<br />

16. Street shoes are not allowed on the pool decks.<br />

17. All swimmers are encouraged to take a shower before entering the pool.<br />

18. All other state and local health codes apply.<br />

19. Children must be 42" tall to use any of the body slides or drop slides.<br />

20. Cell phones or Bluetooth devices may not be used at any time while in the water;<br />

this includes the zero depth pool (baby pool).<br />

21. No cameras or picture cell phones are permitted in the locker room.<br />

Zero-Depth Pool (Baby Pool)<br />

For children ages 0 to 8; this small pool features water from zero to<br />

2.5 feet and offers water play features including a polar bear slide.<br />

Activity Pool<br />

This pool offers a depth of 2.5 to 5 feet and features two 160-foot flume<br />

slides and three lap lanes (children must be 42" tall to use the slides).<br />

Deep Well Pool<br />

The Deep Well pool is 12 feet deep and features two 10-foot drop slides<br />

and a one-meter diving board (children must be 42" tall to use the<br />

Deep Well pool).<br />

Locker Room<br />

Men’s and women’s locker rooms are available. See Aqualusion Pool Rules<br />

for guidelines when using locker rooms with children.<br />

Concessions<br />

Concessions are available throughout the day when the pool is open to the<br />

public (see pool open swim hours on page 54).<br />

Pool Closings<br />

The following conditions may warrant closing of the Aqualusion Pool:<br />

inclement weather (i.e. thunder, lightening, tornado), air temperature<br />

below 65ºF as recorded at O’Hare, low attendance, mechanical<br />

breakdown and/or health code requirements. Pool may close early for<br />

special events/park programming.<br />

Season Pool Pass Fees<br />

Season pool passes are valid from May 25 th to September 2 nd .<br />

Pool passes go on sale on April 2 nd ; discounts are offered for buying<br />

your passes throughout April (see below). You must purchase passes in<br />

person. Proof of residency (photo I.D. and tax bill) is required to receive<br />

the in-district rate and must be presented at the time of purchase.<br />

Registration forms are available on page 101 or at the <strong>Park</strong> <strong>District</strong><br />

office. Each family member will be required to have a photograph<br />

taken for his/her pool pass. Daily rates are also available (see below).<br />

Everyone who enters the pool facility is required to pay an entrance<br />

fee (spectators included). There are no exceptions.<br />

NANNY PASS<br />

A Nanny Pass for $90 is available for nannies, summer sitters that live-in,<br />

part of the family and are included in the family pass rate.<br />

have a great time, and there’s no better place for that than the <strong>Barrington</strong><br />

<strong>Park</strong> <strong>District</strong>’s Aqualusion Pool. This is a perfect time to party with your<br />

old friends and meet new ones. Have fun swimming, sliding down<br />

the waterslides, jumping off the diving board, listening to live music<br />

and enjoying a drink or two with your friends. Your entry fee gets you<br />

admission to the pool, light refreshments and 2 drink tickets; extra food<br />

Youth Learn to Swim Program<br />

AGES: 6 YEARS AND UP<br />

Our Learn-to-Swim Program is perfect for swimmers of all levels<br />

(ages 6 and up). Using the American Red Cross Instructional Aquatic<br />

Program, each level is progressive: Students begin at Level 1 and<br />

progress to Level 6 as they complete each level. Call (847) 381-0687<br />

for a full list of Red Cross curriculum details.<br />

Please sign up for the level that you feel best suits each participant’s<br />

current skill set. All students will be skill-tested on the first day<br />

of lessons for each session to ensure that they are placed in the<br />

appropriate class. Students may be moved to a higher or lower<br />

skill group depending upon their age, individual comfort level, and/<br />

or aquatic skills. Classes run on Monday through Thursday; makeup<br />

days are held on Fridays if class is canceled due to weather.<br />

Indoor Swim Lessons - With Coach Lee McCloud<br />

Classes will be instructed by ASCA Level IV Coach, Lee D. McCloud.<br />

Coach McCloud’s experience as the former Head Coach of Merrillville,<br />

Indiana High School and Aquatic Club Program, the former Head Coach of<br />

the <strong>Barrington</strong> High School competitive and instructional swim program<br />

and the former coach of the <strong>Barrington</strong> Swim Club has allowed him to<br />

teach and refine many students on their swimming techniques.<br />

Advanced Stroke Technique<br />

AGES: 6 YEARS AND UP<br />

Participants in this class will learn and improve on the four competitive<br />

swim strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly. This<br />

50-minute class will help participants in Levels 3 trough 6 to refine their<br />

swim strokes through time-tested methods. They will be introduced to a<br />

variety of swim training techniques and will learn start and turn skills. This<br />

Lap swimming is available for Lap Swim Pass Holders, Pool Pass Holders,<br />

and free for Fitness Center members. Only Pool Pass Holders may<br />

lap swim during normal pool hours.<br />

Lap Swim Guidelines<br />

The lap swim pass is valid during lap swim hours only and must be swiped<br />

in order to swim (sorry, no exceptions). If you fail to bring your pass, you will<br />

be required to pay the pool daily fee in order to lap swim. Not responsible for<br />

lost or stolen pass cards.<br />

Three lap lanes are guaranteed during all open swim hours. Lap swimmers<br />

are expected to circle-swim to the right when there are more than two<br />

swimmers per lane. For the safety and comfort of our lap swimmers,<br />

lap swimming is available for patrons 14 and older who are able to<br />

demonstrate the following skills: rhythmic breathing; a structured stroke,<br />

and the ability to continuously swim 100 yards using one of the four<br />

structured strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke, and butterfly).<br />

This clinic is available for any qualified swimmer (see below) who would<br />

like to dedicate extra time to his or her stroke technique before the<br />

season starts (this is not a swimming lesson). Coaches will be using<br />

fun and challenging techniques to enhance each swimmer’s stroke.<br />

Please bring towel, swim suit, cap and goggles. Participants do<br />

not need to be a registered Stingrays swim team member.<br />

Requirements<br />

Able to swim consistently for 30 minutes. Will require your swimmer<br />

to perform at a challenging level. This is not a swim lesson. All age<br />

Stingrays Swim Team - NEW AND IMPROVED!<br />

AGES: 5 YEARS AND UP<br />

The Stingrays Swim Team is for anyone who loves to have fun and<br />

is interested in learning new swimming skills in a friendly and supportive<br />

atmosphere. From June 17 to July 20*, students will work on speed,<br />

strength and endurance of strokes. Regular swim meets will be held<br />

against surrounding communities. Participants should have prior swimming<br />

experience; each child will be evaluated at a “mock” meet and will be<br />

required to complete an age-appropriate diagnostic assessment. Included<br />

free: bag and Gatorade products at every meet. The first 75 participants<br />

will receive a t-shirt.<br />

Guidelines & Rules<br />

All participants will be assessed for proper placement (no exceptions).<br />

Girls must wear swim caps. Refunds will only be given in the case of<br />

physical impairment or parent job transfer. Proper documentation is<br />

required. Refunds are prorated from the date of purchase plus a<br />

10% service charge if the child doesn’t meet the requirements.<br />
