<strong>Leisure</strong> <strong>Activities</strong><br />
Our aim is that our guests not only experience the treatment but also enjoy some <strong>of</strong> the leisure<br />
and entertainment possibilities available. We encourage guests to use their time well and build<br />
up both body and mind during the stay at the Clinic. The Clinic's location provides access to<br />
different leisure activities on site and in the neighboring area.<br />
Walking & fitness<br />
Taking a refreshing walk and enjoying Iceland's fresh air is<br />
an excellent activity for treatment guests. Easy walking<br />
routes are located near the Clinic. Bicycles can be rented<br />
for a nominal price.<br />
A fitness room equipped with cardiovascular equipments,<br />
weight lifting stations and free weight is located at the<br />
Clinic. Guests also have the possibility to hire a personal<br />
trainer.<br />
Nature<br />
Golf<br />
Golf is a popular sport in Iceland and golf players should be pleased to learn<br />
that four golf courses are located in the area. Clinic's guests can play at the golf<br />
courses for a discounted rate.<br />

Our location on the Reykjanes peninsula gives us access to<br />
scenic beauty by the Atlantic shore and a walk along its<br />
beaches is an experience not to be missed. Valahnúkur at<br />
Reykjanes is knows for the magnificent view <strong>of</strong> bird life<br />
and the rolling waves pounding in from the Atlantic.<br />
Gardskagi is famous for its light house. Gardskagi is the<br />
outermost point <strong>of</strong> the seaside village, Gardur. A lighthouse<br />
was erected there in 1897, the latest lighthouse was built in<br />
1944. Bird watchers should not miss this area during the months <strong>of</strong> April-May and September-<br />
October. Next to the lighthouse is a café where one can have some light refreshment while<br />
enjoying the beautiful view <strong>of</strong> the area.
The bridge between two continents is located at the point<br />
where the Eurasian and American plates meet and it is<br />
located around a 30 min drive from the Clinic. It provides<br />
visitors with a unique chance to walk between the Eurasian<br />
and American continents.<br />
The Nature Center in Sandgerði, called Fræðasetrið in<br />
Icelandic, is a museum <strong>of</strong> natural history. The Nature<br />
Center has a great collection <strong>of</strong> stones, birds and sea<br />
creatures and illustrates perfectly the interconnections between nature and history.<br />
Local attractions<br />
The Blue Lagoon<br />
Iceland's most popular attraction is located within a 5 min<br />
walking distance from the Clinic. A walk or bike ride to<br />
this popular destination is ideal. The spa <strong>of</strong>fers different spa<br />
treatments and massage that take place in the warm lagoon.<br />
Treatment guests get 20% discount on all spa treatments<br />
and massages. LAVA restaurant at the Blue Lagoon <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
an excellent evening and lunch menu and Blue Café <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
light refreshments and drinks.<br />
Saltfish museum<br />
The Icelandic Saltfish museum, located in Grindavíks in a five minute drive from the Clinic,<br />
<strong>of</strong>fers visitors a unique view into the core <strong>of</strong> Icelandic culture and heritage.<br />
Viking Ship<br />
The Viking-ship the Icelander is an exact replica <strong>of</strong> an old<br />
Viking-ship called the "Gaukstad-ship" which was<br />
excavated from an ancient burial mound in Norway in<br />
1882. The ship was very well preserved and scientists were<br />
able to date it back to 870 AD, the time <strong>of</strong> the settlement <strong>of</strong><br />
Iceland. In the year 2000, the Viking ship the Icelander<br />
made a historic journey to Greenland and America to<br />
celebrate the millennium <strong>of</strong> Leif Eiriksson's journey to the<br />
New World. The Icelander is in Reykjanesbær.<br />
Kaffitár - C<strong>of</strong>fee factory and a café<br />
Kaffitár is an Icelandic c<strong>of</strong>fee roasting company. Guided<br />
tours for groups are <strong>of</strong>fered in its spacious new factory in<br />
Reykjanesbæ. Tours need to be booked in advance. A new<br />
café is located at the same building <strong>of</strong>fering a wide range <strong>of</strong><br />
specialty c<strong>of</strong>fee worth trying.<br />
Duus Cultural Center<br />
Located in Reykjanesbær, Duus Cultural Center, houses an<br />
exhibition <strong>of</strong> models that depict 59 vessels from various periods <strong>of</strong> Iceland's fishing industry.
Whale watching<br />
Seeing whales and dolphins up close in their natural environment is a breathtaking experience.<br />
Daily dolphin and whale watching trips are <strong>of</strong>fered from May - September from Keflavik harbor<br />
in Reykjanesbær.<br />
Salty tours<br />
Guided tours <strong>of</strong> Grindavík – an Icelandic fishing village by the sea – and the area surrounding<br />
the Blue Lagoon. Your guide, a true salt, Thorsteinn Gunnar Kristjánsson, will take you around<br />
Grindavík’s working harbor, through the Saltfish Museum <strong>of</strong> Iceland–Saltfisksetur, to a shark<br />
fermentation shack, and sightseeing in the spectacular lava landscape <strong>of</strong> the Reykjanes Region.<br />

Neighboring towns<br />
Grindavík<br />
Grindavík is a charming fishing village located only a five minutes drive from the Clinic. The<br />
village is <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> attractions ranging from natural wonders to museums. More at<br />

Garður<br />
Garður is a small town by the seaside is located in 30 min drive. is an interesting small town near<br />
Keflavik International airport. Gerdahreppur has an interesting Local Folk Museum, old<br />
lighthouses and rich birdlife.<br />
Reykjanesbær<br />
Reykjanesbær the area's largest municipality is located in 15 minute drive from Blue Lagoon<br />
Clinic. Shops, restaurants, movie theatre and museums can be found in Reykjanesbær.<br />
Sandgerði<br />
Sandgerði is a thriving fishing village located in 30 min drive. It is one <strong>of</strong> the country's major<br />
fishing communitites in South West Iceland. Rich fishing-grounds are found just <strong>of</strong>f the coast <strong>of</strong><br />
Sandgerði and good harbor facilities.<br />
Reykjavik<br />
Driving to Reykjavik, the Capital <strong>of</strong> Iceland takes about 40 min. Reykjavík is a great place to<br />
visit for both fun and relaxation. The city is located on a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic<br />
Ocean and with a mountain view. Reykjavík <strong>of</strong>fers its visitors access to nature, rich cultural life,<br />
restaurants and shopping. Daily coach service is <strong>of</strong>fered between the Blue Lagoon and<br />
Reykjavik.<br />
Other interesting sites<br />
For guests wanting to experience more <strong>of</strong> Iceland we recommend the Golden Circle tour to<br />
Gullfoss, Iceland's most famous and picturesque waterfall, Geysir, the world-famous geothermal<br />
