at the Arboretum, Dallas
is ground zero for aerial
Phytophthora problems!
“But,” Turner says, “Cora
Cascade’ has all of the toughness
and resistance of its
upright ‘Cora’ Vinca relatives”
Though he was skeptical as
always (he thought the lush
trailing habit would not hold
up as well as the upright varieties)
he was surprised to see
that ‘Cora Cascade’ trailed,
filled and spilled out of their
trial containers. It made an
incredible flowering carpet
even when planted in heavy
clay soil and never once did
they lose a plant to disease.
Turner goes on to say ‘Cora
Cascade’ was “a veritable
carpet of flowers through a
Summer of 100 plus temperatures,
dry weather and
monsoonal rains.”
