Philosophy<br />
To move into smaller communities such as<br />
Ballintubber (pop 600) <strong>an</strong>d to either<br />
purchase turn key properties or develop<br />
purpose built <strong>housing</strong> to suit the needs of<br />
all our ten<strong>an</strong>ts. The emphasis being on<br />
smaller units of <strong>housing</strong> rather th<strong>an</strong> large<br />
institutionalised settings.
Person Centred Approach<br />
Ten<strong>an</strong>ts furnish their own rooms<br />
Exercise their own preferences in<br />
choosing furniture <strong>an</strong>d fixtures<br />
Each ten<strong>an</strong>t has a key worker who works<br />
on <strong>an</strong> individual basis <strong>with</strong> them

Challenges Ahead<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The Capital Assist<strong>an</strong>ce Scheme (CAS ) has been vital in<br />
ensuring a supply of <strong>housing</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>people</strong> <strong>with</strong> intellectual<br />
disability – funding cuts will have a serious impact<br />
Lack of funding <strong>for</strong> the provision of <strong>housing</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>an</strong> aging<br />
population of <strong>people</strong> <strong>with</strong> intellectual <strong>disabilities</strong><br />
Provision of staffing to meet the growing dem<strong>an</strong>d of<br />
<strong>housing</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>people</strong> <strong>with</strong> intellectual <strong>disabilities</strong> <strong>with</strong>in the<br />
community<br />
Maintain focus on community groups (RA Supporting<br />
People <strong>with</strong> Special Needs) who furnished some of our<br />
developments
