Next Steps<br />
To provide leadership on issues related to tourism economic development, the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong><br />
should:<br />

Ensure that all Government <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ontario</strong> ministries that impact tourism come together to create a<br />
whole-<strong>of</strong>-government approach to tourism.<br />
Establish a Results Team for <strong>Tourism</strong> (as was done for Health and Education and other ministries) to<br />
help provide accountability and demonstrate progress.<br />
Report annually to Cabinet on the state <strong>of</strong> tourism in <strong>Ontario</strong>.<br />
Work with the Premier’s Office and Cabinet Office to identify milestones and measures <strong>of</strong> progress<br />
toward the 2020 goal.<br />
Work in collaboration with industry to better inform the government’s overall economic priorities.<br />
This would help link broad initiatives to the industry (e.g., “enablers” such as infrastructure<br />
development, product development, training and service quality, and regulatory modernization).<br />
Include tourism in the economic development strategies <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ontario</strong> ministries (e.g., tourism should<br />
be included in the investment attraction priorities <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> International Trade and<br />
Investment).<br />
Ensure the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong> has the human and financial resources it needs to fulfil its leadership<br />
role.<br />
