maturing age. It has an average culm
diameter of 5 cm, and is 7 m high
‣This species grows at an elevation of
between 1000 to 1800 m above sea level
and is widely distributed in lowland areas of
the country.
‣It grows naturally in warm climates with
average temperature of 35o C and mean
annual rainfall between 900 to 1400 mm
(Anonymous, 1997).

country is covered by this species
