The city was joint top of the table with Liverpool, where wardens hand out an average 2,616 fines each. The number of parking tickets issued in 2011 saw an increase of 4% on the previous year, according to the latest figures. That's why we have ended the last government's requirements to limit spaces, push up parking charges and encourage aggressive parking enforcement." The City of London has been backing out of appeals, which has cost it more than £100,000 in the past year. The corporation has though raised more than £3.3 million from fines. And only 1,465 people who received some of the 59,000 tickets it issued bothered to appeal.
