Dr. Lokesh Kumar Sahu did his Bachelor and M.Sc. in Physics from <strong>the</strong> department <strong>of</strong> School <strong>of</strong><br />
Studies in Physics Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, India. He joined Physical<br />
Research Laboratory (PRL) for <strong>the</strong> Ph.D. program in 1998 and obtained <strong>the</strong> degree from Mohan<br />
Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, India. He was a Research Associate in <strong>the</strong> Indian Institute <strong>of</strong><br />
Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune during May-October 2006. He was awarded <strong>the</strong> prestigious<br />
Japan Society for <strong>the</strong> Promotion <strong>of</strong> Science (JSPS) fellowship to work in <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong><br />
Tokyo during October 2006-October 2008. Later, he was a Special Researcher in <strong>the</strong> University<br />
<strong>of</strong> Tokyo during November 2008-July 2010. He has received <strong>the</strong> Certificate <strong>of</strong> Appreciation<br />
from <strong>the</strong> President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> JSPS, Government <strong>of</strong> Japan, 2007. The National Aeronautics and<br />
Space Administration (NASA) Group Achievement Award in 2009 for outstanding<br />
accomplishments in <strong>the</strong> successful Arctic Research <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Composition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Troposphere from<br />
Aircraft and Satellite mission in Alaska and Canada. Dr. Lokesh is an executive member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Indian Science Association in Japan (ISAJ). He has been working in <strong>the</strong> topics <strong>of</strong> atmospheric<br />
trace gases and aerosols such as ozone, black carbon and reactive species like volatile organic<br />
compounds (VOCs) in <strong>the</strong> troposphere using ground-based, ship-borne and aircraft observations.<br />
Dr. Lokesh has published more than 35 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has been involved<br />
in several research projects <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> NASA, Japan Science Technology (JST), Indian Space<br />
Research Organisation (ISRO), Asia Pacific Network (APN), etc. Presently he is a Reader in <strong>the</strong><br />
Space and Atmospheric Sciences Division <strong>of</strong> PRL, India.<br />
