Tolerances • The control of dimensioning to achieve interchangeable manufacturing is known as tolerancing. • This controls the size of the features of a part. • A standard system of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing has been established.
Tolerances • Are allowances, either oversize or undersize, that are permitted when machining or making a part. • Fraction inch units the tolerance can be assumed to be +/- 1/64 unless otherwise indicated. • The plus and minus tolerance is called a bilateral tolerance.
