CREATIVE FUNDRAISING IDEAS
FROM A TO Z
A - Ask everyone you meet: Always carry a brochure/envelope for donations with you so when you talk to people
about the Walk like MADD, you can ask them to donate right then. Make sure the top few donations on the form are
significant; other people are apt to follow suit. Conversely, if you start with a $2 contribution, others may follow
with $2. Don’t prejudge whether people will give – just ask! While you’re at it, ask them to join your team.
B – Bake/Hot Dog/Taco Sale: Bake lots of homemade goodies and sell them at work or at a busy place or try hot
dogs or tacos for lunch.
C – Carwashes Nice Months – Candy Sales/Cookie Exchange For Cold Weather Months: People always need a
good carwash. This is a great fundraiser for a team to do. Candy can be purchased in bulk inexpensively and offer it
at meetings/work as an alternative to the vending machine. Host a holiday cookie/treat exchange with $5 fee to
participate.
D - Dress Down Days: Have employees pay to dress down at work. This can also work with schools that require
uniforms (with permission). Also great as “Team Spirit Day” – wear apparel from your favorite sports team.
E - E-mail: Send to your friends, family and co-workers asking them for donations.
F - Flower Sales: Work with local florist or wholesaler to sell bouquets, potted flowers, or individual stems at your
school or place of work. Located in SE Michigan Sell English Garden Flower of the Month memberships

G – Garage and/or Mom To Mom Sales: Work individually or as a team. Mom To Mom Sales are available year
round to sell kids toys, clothing, furniture, and more!
H - Hat (or Cap) Day: (Great for schools) Students can make a donation to wear baseball caps to school for the
day.
I – Icons or Red Ribbons for MADD – make available at your office or ask a local business to collect donations
for a $1 or more each for MADD Paper Icons/red ribbons. Have the donor sign their name and display them on the
walls. Contact the MADD office at 248.528.1745 for supplies.
J – Jars for Donations: Place jars where you work, on your desk, or on store counters with info about MADD and
the Walk like MADD event on the front.
K - Kitchen Tools Sale: Work with a pampered Chef Consultant (www.pamperedchef.com) or Tupperware to hold
a kitchen show or catalog party. A portion of the sales will benefit your team. Consider other vendors for jewelry,
candles, health products, food and more!
L - Letter Writing: Send letters to friends and family explaining what you are doing and why and enclose in
holiday cards. Tell them your personal goal and ask for help. You could even write a letter from your pet to your
friend’s pet!

M – Massage Therapist Day/Night: Bring in a massage therapist as work/night of a meeting to perform neck and
back massages for a donation to MADD.
N – Designated Driver for the “Night:” Auction or raffle off your services at the designated driver for your
friends.
O – Special “Occasions” Day: if you have a birthday, anniversary (don’t forget your work anniversary date)
approaching, host a party and/or send out emails asking that guests/friends/family/co-workers provide you with a
donation to MADD in lieu of gifts.
P – Pop Can Collection: Create a box for collection of empty cans and indicate on a sign, donations will go to your
team/Walk Like MADD. Place boxes at school/work/local businesses.
Q - Quilts: Sell quilt squares in honor and memory of family members and friends who were killed or injured in
impaired driving crashes; squares of 4 x 4 for $5; 8 x 8 for $15; 12 x 12 for $25. Have employees make the quilts
themselves.
R – Restaurant Night: Contact a local restaurant/ice cream parlor/fast food place to host a MADD Night for your
team – you then pass out flyers, post them on Facebook and recruit people to come dine/eat/shop for MADD. The
restaurant usually donates 10-25% from the evening’s sales – all to go to your team!
S - Sports Tournaments: Organize sports tournaments at a local school gym or community center and charge an
entry fee. Volleyball/bowling tournaments are great winter and summer events.
T – Throw A Party: Invite your friends, family and co-workers over for a themed party/movie night/favorite sports
team game night and/or board games with food and fun at your house and ask people to make a donation to MADD
in lieu of bringing food or wine.
U - U-Can-Win- 50/50 Drawing: Hold 50/50 drawings at any meeting at your office/work/school/church meeting.
Get a roll of raffle tickets – offer them $1 for one or 10 for $5 – do the drawing at the end of your meeting. Winner
keeps half and your team gets half. (Must be held the same day/can’t be carried over week to week).
V - Vacation Day Drawing: Get your employer to agree to raffle off a vacation day with pay. The raffle money
raised will go to your Walk team.
W - Wristbands: Collect donations for MADD wristbands. This is a great way to raise money for your team and
spread awareness at the same time.
X - Xtra Cents: (Great for bank and credit union teams) Donate the extra cents from your deposit to the bank’s
Walk Like MADD Team. Place a sign at the teller line and drive-thru window. Indicate that all proceeds benefit
MADD.
Y - Yard Sales: Clean out those closets and have a yard sale. You can do this individually or with your team. The
money raised will go to your Walk team. Approach a local church/school to allow you to hold it indoors for cold
months.
Z – Zippy Sales Online: Invite your team members to donate items, antiques, gift certificates/baskets, sporting
equipment, anything that could be auctioned off to support your teams fundraising goals. You can organize an online
auction at www.missionfish.org or post items on ebay.
