BACKGROUND
BUWASUNGUYI CLINIC was opened in rented
premises in 1999. It moved to a purpose built clinic in
Sisongofa village in 2005. As a model to take Christ
centered health care to rural areas, it concentrates on
mother and child care. Originally in Mbale district, it is
now in Manafwa district.
J.O.Y HOSPICE is a private not-for-profit health care
facility in Mbale town. It started in 2001 and offers
general outpatient and inpatient services as well as
specializing in holistic palliative care. A laboratory was
added in 2004 and a medical store and administration
office in 2008.

The hospice and clinic are committed to bringing holistic
healing to the community by providing high quality,
comprehensive, affordable and accessible services in
both acute and chronic situations, delivered by
compassionate and competent professional and support
staff.
BIBLICAL FOUNDATION
• Christian healthcare has a long and honourable
history. Like the Good Samaritan in LUKE 10 v 25-37
we should be compassionate and caring whatever the
personal cost. Treatment is offered without
discrimination as to race, tribe, religion, political
affiliation, age or gender.
• We believe that God desires us to be healthy
physically, mentally and spiritually and in our
families and community.
• Our prayer for our patients echoes 3 JOHN v 2:
‘that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well
with you, even as your soul is getting along well.’
