W
hat better way to kick off the new year than by joining us
for the national tour launch of Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Based on the 1994 movie starring Guy Pearce, this outrageously
fun show tells the uplifting story of three friends whose
lives take a new turn on a roadtrip in the Australian outback. With
more than 500 Tony Award-winning costumes, this flashy musical features
a hit parade of nearly 30 dance floor favorites including “It’s
Raining Men,” “Finally” and “I Will Survive.” On behalf of Hennepin
Theatre Trust, we are thrilled you are to be among the first to see this
new musical which will travel across the country after its Minnesota
premiere. What a sensational way to kick off the new year!
The Orpheum Theatre has hosted other national premieres including
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Aida, as well as world premieres of
Disney’s The Lion King, Sweet Charity, Victor/Victoria and The 101 Dalmatians Musical. The
Trust is proud that it and our venues are recognized nationally as optimal locations to begin
countrywide tours that reinforce the city’s reputation for top notch theatre and intelligent,
supportive theatre audiences. We all benefit when our restaurants, parking ramps and hotels
are full and local workers are employed by our theatres. Our cultural district adds economic
value, variety, diversity and interest to our vibrant downtown.
To build an even better core for Minneapolis, Hennepin Theatre Trust has been working with
the Walker Art Center, Artspace and the City of Minneapolis on Plan-It Hennepin, a one-year
initiative to re-imagine Hennepin Avenue as a revitalized cultural district running from the
Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to the Mississippi River. Over the past year, we heard from
nearly 1,500 people concerned with the future of our city’s oldest street through Plan-It Hennepin
workshops, roundtable discussions and on the Trust’s website and Facebook page. We’re
now working with General Mills’ “Goodworks” program to explore branding and marketing
for the district. Thank you General Mills!
Hennepin Avenue is already home to some 57 arts, culture and education organizations, more
than 12,000 theatre seats, almost 90,000 square feet of visual art exhibition space, a 7.5 acre
sculpture garden, 20,000 day and evening students and four regional churches of various denominations.
We want to weave together these existing pearls to create a nationally acclaimed,
year-round cultural destination for all residents and visitors alike. We are currently working
with the city and our partners to finalize our cultural district plan. And, we are already taking
steps to further revitalize Hennepin Avenue with initiatives like one that will activate vacant
storefronts. Look for our work to begin appearing soon.
Thank you again for joining us to kick off the new year with the national tour launch of Priscilla
Queen of the Desert. I hope you can join us again and again throughout 2013.
Yours truly,
Thomas L. Hoch
ORPHEUM THEATRE 15
THE STATE, ORPHEUM & PANTAGES THEATRES
The following information is provided to help you familiarize yourself with our facilities and services. Our goal is to provide you with personalized service to ensure
that your theatre experience exceeds your expectations. In order to serve you most effectively, please do not hesitate to address questions, comments, or requests
for specific assistance to any of the ushering staff.
CAMERAS • The use of cameras or other types of recording equipment
is strictly prohibited.
CANCELLATIONS • For one night events, please check the event description
for postponements or cancellations.
CELLULAR PHONES AND PAGERS • The ringing of cellular phones or
pagers can be highly disruptive during a performance. These devices should
be turned off or turned to vibrate mode while at the theatre. If necessary,
a cellular phone or pager can be monitored by the Event Manager.
CHILDREN • Children under the age of six are encouraged to attend the
theatres only for special children’s events. Everyone entering the theatre
must have a ticket. For the comfort and enjoyment of all guests, children
who are disruptive to other guests will be asked to leave the seating area.
Infants will not be allowed admission to Broadway performances.
DONOR PROGRAM • Hennepin Theatre Trust Donors experience special
benefits and have access to exclusive events while also supporting
the Trust’s education programming and the preservation of the State, Orpheum
and Pantages Theatres. Visit our website to learn more about becoming
a Donor.
DRESS CODE • While our theatres have no specific dress code, we
find that many of our patrons like to dress up to celebrate attending
a special event. The most important thing is to dress appropriately for
a special occasion.
EDUCATION • Hennepin Theatre Trust’s education department strives to
engage audiences of all ages through a variety of educational and outreach
programs. Visit our website to learn more.
EMERGENCIES • The telephone number for emergency messages is:
(612) 339-7007, ext 450. Emergency messages are delivered immediately
during performances when seat locations are known. Persons expecting
emergency messages are asked to leave their seat locations in
advance with the calling party and with the Box Office upon arrival.
EXCHANGES • Tickets may be exchanged to another performance of
the same show in person at the box office at least 24 hours prior to the
currently scheduled performance. Exchanges are subject to availability,
and are assessed a $5.00 per ticket exchange fee. If the patron exchanges
into a more expensive performance, they must pay the difference
in ticket price. There is no refund for exchanging into a less
expensive performance. There are NO exchanges on Group Sales or
Comp tickets.
FIRST AID • First aid supplies are available at all theatres. Ask any
usher for assistance. There is a security officer trained in CPR and First
Aid on duty at every performance from the time the lobbies open until
all guests have exited.
beer and soft drinks and light snacks including mints and cookies are
available for purchase in the theatre. No outside food or beverages are
allowed in the theatre.
HENNEPIN THEATRE TRUST • Hennepin Theatre Trust, non-profit
owner of the historic Orpheum, State, Pantages and the newly developed
New Century Theatres, is dedicated to enriching the vibrant cultural
atmosphere of the Twin Cities. We present a rich array of live
performances, create inspiring arts education experiences and advance
a thriving cultural destination in downtown Minneapolis. Our programs
include Broadway touring productions, the Broadway Confidential series,
our SpotLight Musical Theatre Program for high schools, the Critical
showtime. Theatre seating traditionally begins 30 minutes prior to showtime.
of lost or found articles. After a performance, you may call the
like to exit and re-enter the theatre.
of each theatre, please see an usher for direction to the nearest restroom.
our website to learn more.
SECONDARY TICKET MARKET • Consumer Warning - the State,
Orpheum and Pantages Theatres use bar code scanning for ticket admissions.
As a result, patrons should be careful when purchasing tickets
and should make sure the seller is a State, Orpheum or Pantages
Theatre licensed contractor, otherwise, you may be purchasing a ticket
that is invalid and will be denied admission.
Ticketmaster is the ONLY authorized ticketing agent outside of the State Theatre
Box Office. If you purchase tickets from an unauthorized agent in the
secondary market (Scalper, Ticket Broker, eBay, Craigslist, etc.), you risk
purchasing counterfeit or invalid tickets. If you wish to purchase tickets from
the secondary market, we encourage the use of TicketExchange.
TicketExchange is Ticketmaster’s online service that enables premium
and fan-to-fan transactions. Only Ticketmaster can guarantee
100% legitimate secondary market tickets, because the tickets
sold through TicketExchange are linked to Ticketmaster’s barcoded
ticketing systems. Visit our website for more information on TicketExchange.
SEATING • Guests arriving after the start of the performance will be
seated at the discretion of management, in accordance to the wishes of
the performing company. These times vary with each production. Please
plan to allow plenty of time for parking.
SMOKING • The State, Orpheum & Pantages Theatres & their lobbies
are entirely smoke-free.
TICKETS • Tickets can be purchased in person at the State Theatre Box
Office, by phone through the Ticketmaster Artsline, online through Ticketmaster.com
