Customer feedback was the key to the development of this range. Penn’s engineering<br />
department was challenged by the owners to create the next generation of<br />
lever drag reels. So they hit the docks and tackle stores to find out exactly what<br />
anglers were looking for. The result was the International® V series – probably<br />
the most reliable and user-friendly reel on the market.<br />

One of the key points raised by charter skippers<br />
and anglers while Penn’s engineers<br />
were researching this range was the lever<br />
drag system. A ratcheted lever was introduced<br />
to eliminate the problem of ‘dragcreep’<br />
caused by hours of trolling and diesel<br />
engine vibration. This means that if a<br />
huge fi sh is hooked, you can be sure that<br />
the amount of drag being used is the<br />
amount that you have preset – there’s<br />
no room for error when it comes to slowing<br />
down a steam train!<br />
The push to turn preset drag system<br />
too was a direct request from charter<br />
skippers to stop ‘unknowing anglers’<br />
from adjusting the drag while the<br />
skipper and crew weren’t watching. Some<br />
of the key features in this range include<br />
four Stainless Steel ball bearings (six in the<br />
80VSW model), push button twin speed<br />
gearshift and a loud ratchet alarm.The<br />
ergonomic frame shape makes playing fi sh<br />
far more comfortable than ever before, and<br />
the oversized power handle helps when<br />
cranking in line as a fi sh runs towards you.<br />
Although the larger models are designed<br />
for big game fi shing, the smaller 16VS and<br />
30VSW models are perfect for all manner<br />
of European fi shing situations. If you want<br />
