20 TOP 50 // THE FASTEST GROWING SERIES IN ONTARIO twelve OUR MISSION STATEMENT Through partnership and co-operation, it is the goal of the TOP50 to promote quality recreational and competitive angling experience while preserving the fishery for future generations by employing live release. To support economic growth of our host communities, and provide charitable organizations the opportunity to raise much needed funds. The TOP50 is a “Registered” not for profit organization. Established (2002) to assist local communities/associations and provide them with an opportunity to raise much needed funds. The TOP50 is an organized series of tournaments, that provide anglers with a learning experience while competing on a professional level. Catch and release is highly promoted. Special consideration is given to youth anglers. Entry fees, rules, and paybacks are consistent throughout the series. Competitors may choose to fish one event or as many as they wish. This series has a voluntary annual fee of $100.00. Participation fee provides the angler(s) an opportunity to compete in the Provincial Classic which has an annual purse of over $30,000. Included with the TOP50 fee, anglers compete for prestigious title(s) such as angler of the Year (AOTY), Team of the Year (TOTY), and Rookie of the Year (ROTY). All of these titles come with free entries to the following season’s series, plaques and exposure on entry forms and in the Tournament angler Magazine.

If you wish to qualify for the Provincial Classic you must prior to fishing your first qualifying event. 1. Purchase a participant fee ($100) 2. Fish a minimum of 2 events. 3. Qualify by virtue of points in the AOTY race. (first 100 anglers) If you wish to vie for Angler of the Year (AOTY) you must. 1. Be a paid participant of the TOP 50 in good standing 2. Promote the TOP 50 and competitive angling 3. Compete with many anglers that have paid the participation fee 4. Compete with many new, paid/unpaid participants, anglers to the Top 50 Pike Tournament Series 5. Attain the highest score in the AOTY standings 6. Promote the TOP 50 by assisting, in the booth at shows, promo- tions and/or at tournaments (set-up, tear down, movement of equipment, stats, website etc.) 7. Solicit advertising for the TOP50 (funds go directly towards Pro- vincial Classic pay back) 8. Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times. 9. Promote the TOP 50 with the display of the TOP 50 logo (wearing apparel, decals, word of mouth etc.) The aforementioned criteria for Angler of the Year will replace the existing AOTY criteria. Each of the above Criteria is based on a total value of 10 with #5 being double ( 20 ). The highest scoring angler in each category will receive 10. The second highest score 9.5, the third highest score 9 and so on. Equal effort, or ties, in each category will receive an equal score. The angler with the highest total at the conclusion of the season, including the Provincial Classic, will be declared a TRUE Angler of the Year. Top 50 Directors are not eligible for this award. GOOD NEWS FOR THE ROOKIES Many of our rookie participants have not returned to compete after their rookie year. WHY ? Perhaps they found the competition to strong or where not ready to compete as a rookie. Competing against a seasoned field of anglers could prove to be an overwhelming experience, leaving the new angler with the I can’t compete against these Pros attitude. This could lead the first time (Rookie) competitors to become discouraged from future tournament competition. To avoid this scenario from happening, we shall allow all new and past rookie competitors three attempts to achieve the ROTY title. Some pre-requisites must be put in place to safe guard seasoned anglers from taking advantage of this opportunity. PREREQUISITE FOR THE (ROOKIE OF THE YEAR) ROTY - Must be new to the TOP50 or not fished as a participant of the TOP50 for more than 3 years. - Must be a current paid participant of the TOP50. - Must promote competitive angling. - Must compete in a minimum of three (3) events per season. - Title will be decided on the best 3 finishes in the Angler of the Year standings. - An angler under the age of 19 will remain in contenders for this title until the age of 19 or until the ROTY title is achieved. In other words, all new and current anglers that have not had a paid participation fee for more than three years are eligible to compete for the ROTY title. PREREQUISITE TO TEAM OF THE YEAR. -Must be a current paid participant of the TOP50 -Must promote competitive angling -Must compete in a minimum of 5 events -Title will be decided by the highest team score in the angler of the year race. ALL OF THE ABOVE TITLES COME WITH Free entry fees to all tournaments in the following year. Exposure in the Tournament Angler Magazine. Exposure on the entry forms. If you wish to participate in any of the TOP50 tournament trail events there are no additional fees other than the entry fee of $230.00.
