OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Through partnership and co-operation, it is the goal
of the TOP50 to promote quality recreational and
competitive angling experience while preserving
the fishery for future generations by employing live
release. To support economic growth of our host
communities, and provide charitable organizations
the opportunity to raise much needed funds.
The TOP50 is a “Registered” not for profit organization.
Established (2002) to assist local communities/associations and
provide them with an opportunity to raise much needed funds.
The TOP50 is an organized series of tournaments, that provide
anglers with a learning experience while competing on a professional
level.
Catch and release is highly promoted.
Special consideration is given to youth anglers.
Entry fees, rules, and paybacks are consistent throughout the series.
Competitors may choose to fish one event or as many as they wish.
This series has a voluntary annual fee of $100.00.
Participation fee provides the angler(s) an opportunity to compete in
the Provincial Classic which has an annual purse of over $30,000.
Included with the TOP50 fee, anglers compete for prestigious title(s)
such as angler of the Year (AOTY), Team of the Year (TOTY), and
Rookie of the Year (ROTY).
All of these titles come with free entries to the following season’s
series, plaques and exposure on entry forms and in the Tournament
angler Magazine.

TOP 50 // THE FASTEST GROWING SERIES IN ONTARIO20
twelve
I want to become a participant of the TOP50 pike series tournament trail.
If you wish to qualify for the Provincial Classic you must prior to fishing
your first qualifying event.
1. Purchase a participant fee ($100)
2. Fish a minimum of 2 events.
3. Qualify by virtue of points in the AOTY race. (first 100 anglers)
If you wish to vie for Angler of the Year (AOTY) you must.
1. Be a paid participant of the TOP 50 in good standing
2. Promote the TOP 50 and competitive angling
3. Compete with many anglers that have paid the participation fee
4. Compete with many new, paid/unpaid participants, anglers to the
Top 50 Pike Tournament Series
5. Attain the highest score in the AOTY standings
6. Promote the TOP 50 by assisting, in the booth at shows, promo-
tions and/or at tournaments (set-up, tear down, movement of
equipment, stats, website etc.)
7. Solicit advertising for the TOP50 (funds go directly towards Pro-
vincial Classic pay back)
8. Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.
9. Promote the TOP 50 with the display of the TOP 50 logo (wearing
apparel, decals, word of mouth etc.)
The aforementioned criteria for Angler of the Year will replace the existing
AOTY criteria. Each of the above Criteria is based on a total value
of 10 with #5 being double ( 20 ). The highest scoring angler in each
category will receive 10. The second highest score 9.5, the third highest
score 9 and so on. Equal effort, or ties, in each category will receive an
equal score. The angler with the highest total at the conclusion of the
season, including the Provincial Classic, will be declared a TRUE Angler
of the Year.
Top 50 Directors are not eligible for this award.
GOOD NEWS FOR THE ROOKIES
Many of our rookie participants have not returned to compete after
their rookie year. WHY ? Perhaps they found the competition to strong
or where not ready to compete as a rookie. Competing against a seasoned
field of anglers could prove to be an overwhelming experience,
leaving the new angler with the I can’t compete against these Pros
attitude. This could lead the first time (Rookie) competitors to become
discouraged from future tournament competition. To avoid this scenario
from happening, we shall allow all new and past rookie competitors
three attempts to achieve the ROTY title. Some pre-requisites must be
put in place to safe guard seasoned anglers from taking advantage of
this opportunity.
PREREQUISITE FOR THE (ROOKIE OF THE YEAR) ROTY
- Must be new to the TOP50 or not fished as a participant of the
TOP50 for more than 3 years.
- Must be a current paid participant of the TOP50.
- Must promote competitive angling.
- Must compete in a minimum of three (3) events per season.
- Title will be decided on the best 3 finishes in the Angler of the Year
standings.
- An angler under the age of 19 will remain in contenders for this title
until the age of 19 or until the ROTY title is achieved.
In other words, all new and current anglers that have not had a paid
participation fee for more than three years are eligible to compete for the
ROTY title.
PREREQUISITE TO TEAM OF THE YEAR.
-Must be a current paid participant of the TOP50
-Must promote competitive angling
-Must compete in a minimum of 5 events
-Title will be decided by the highest team score in the angler of the year race.
ALL OF THE ABOVE TITLES COME WITH
Free entry fees to all tournaments in the following year.
Exposure in the Tournament Angler Magazine.
Exposure on the entry forms.
If you wish to participate in any of the TOP50 tournament trail events
PARRY SOUND
This will be the 8th annual Parry Sound Pike
Tournament and the fourth one associated with the
TOP50 Pike Series events. The tournament is always
the first one of the year as pike season opens May 1st
on Georgian Bay, a great way to start the open water
season.
With thousands of bays accessible from Parry
Sound harbour, anglers have a shot at some of the
best early season pike angling going. Combine this
with the beautiful surroundings of Georgian Bay, making
it a great event for the novice angler or seasoned
pike anglers. All are welcome.
The tournament will be held at the Big Sound
Marina. This facility will provide docking for all boats
for boat check in the morning of the tournament
weigh-in and prize presentation after the event. There
are three public boat launches situated within a short
boat ride from the Big Sound facility.
A donation will be made by the Parry Sound Pike
Tournament to a local charity or group. This year we
are hoping to see many new faces as well as a few
old ones. Parry Sound is a great place to fish and
boat so come out and give our tournament a try!
HONEY HARBOUR
Honey Harbour is the gateway community to
Georgian Bay’s 30,000 Islands. The fishing here is
truly unique with the opportunity to battle some of
the world’s largest freshwater fish. The area is so
vast, with countless sheltered back bays and narrow
channels you would never be short on that “favourite
fishing hole”. Honey Harbour was recently ranked in
the Top 20 2011 Ultimate Fishing Towns Canada by
WFN.
Join us and the Village Marina this spring for our 1st
Annual Honey Harbour Top 50 Pike Tournament at
2762 Honey Harbour Rd. and help fill the shelves at
our new Port Severn Food Bank.
There is so much to see and do in Honey Harbour
and the surrounding areas it’ll keep you coming back
for years to come.
Orientation/Registration will be held on site at the Village
Marina Saturday May 5th, from 7-9pm.
Teams attending both Parry Sound and Honey Harbour
events need only attend Parry Sound orientation.
ST. CHARLES
Come one, come all, avid pike anglers and enjoy another challenging,
yet fun-filled day of fishing in the abundant weed growth
of the West Arm of Lake Nipissing at Victoria Lodge on June 2,
2012!
It is with great anticipation that the St-Charles Seniors’ Club
Alidor is preparing to host their 6th annual event. We are anxious
to see all you returning participants and hopefully see new anglers
join in and take the opportunity to participate, rain or shine. Some
of you may remember last year’s sudden but short-lived wind and
rain incident at the start of the launching. However, that didn’t stop
the fish from biting nor the fishermen from showing their passion; it
was obvious there is no shortage of pike in our waters.
This tournament has become the most important fundraiser for
the Senior’s Club Alidor. Club Alidor is an incorporated non-profit
organization whose mission is to ensure that the elderly and other
members of our community have the opportunity to lead healthier
lifestyles through social interaction, physical activities and community
support initiatives. This is achieved through our weekly
social and congregate dining program, a very demanding project,
both financially and administratively. It requires several teams of
dedicated volunteers who give indiscriminately of their time and
effort in the preparation of meals and social activities, and in the
administration and financial operation of the Club.
We wish to thank our sponsors who so generously support
through advertising and donations; they remain one of the main
sources of profit for the event.
Finally, we would like to thank, you the organizers and volunteers,
for some very hard work collecting advertisements and
donations, preparing meals, monitoring launching and measuring
stations, tabulating the fishing results and promptly reporting the
data. All in all, we thank you for the smooth operation of this event
year after year.
We wish to remind all anglers that registration starts at 5:00pm
followed by an orientation meeting at Club Alidor, 43 Main St. in
St-Charles (same site as last year’s) on Friday June 1st.
See you at the tournament!
CHELMSFORD
The Chelmsford Fish and game association is
a registered non-profit organization that has been
incorporated since November 22nd, 1965. We receive
NO funding from municipal, provincial or federal governments.
What keeps us going is our membership
renewals, and funds generated from our events.
The CFGA is involved in many community-oriented
events such as our annual ice Fishing Derby and our
Summer Pike Classic Tournament. These events keep
the community active during the winter as well as the
summer. The Chelmsford Fish and game association
focused its efforts on walleye culture and the restocking
of local lakes and streams.
This effort has been enhanced through the hard
work of dedicated volunteers with the construction of
a walleye hatchery and 2 ½ hectare ponds. Our association
works hand in hand with the MNR, Laurentian
University “Laurentian Fresh Water Ecology” and
Collège Boréal to ensure that our projects meet and
exceed all of their standards.
It’s important for people to support us during our
annual events because most of the money collected
goes towards our hatchery/ponds. There are also the
everyday costs of owning property and maintaining it.
It’s not cheap to run this type of operation.
Please support us by becoming a member and
participating in our fishing tournaments.
ELK LAKE
The town of Elk lake has a fascinating historical
background stretching from the fur trading days to
the heady silver rush just after the turn of the century.
Incorporated in 1909, the town prospered under
the leadership of its famous first reeve, Jack Munroe,
who was a prosper, mining engineer, famed football
player, boxing star and war hero.
The town of Elk lake has evolved to become a
thriving tourism, lumber and mining centre. Elk lake
has long been known for its friendliness and community
spirit.
The Elk lake Pike Bonanza is one of the longest
running pike tournaments around. And with good
reason with 28 miles of the Montreal river to fish there
is plenty of pike to go around. Not to mention those
honey holes in Mountain lake where that 40”+ Pike is
hiding.
In all, Elk lake has great waters, friendly people
and a great facility. This makes the Elk lake Pike
Bonanza a must attend tournament.
ATTENTION PROVINCIAL
CLASSIC QUALIFIERS
The Provincial Classic will be held five days after
the last tournament in Elk Lake.
This does not give the Top50 directors and host
club much time to contact and invite qualifying
anglers. To avoid any problems receiving late entries
and filling the field the following procedure will take
place.
All anglers that know they have qualified by virtue
of points in the angler of the year (AOTY) race, and
will be attending the Provincial Classic are urged to
do the following.
“Pay the full NON-REFUNDABLE Classic ($220.00)
entry before August 15th 2012. Doing so will enter
you into a draw for starting boat numbers and for the
free paid entry to the 2012 Provincial Classic. The
draw for starting position boat #’and free entry will
take place in Elk Lake Sept. 2nd 2012.”
Entries for the Provincial Classic will be accepted
until we have a full field, but all entries received post
marked after August 15th will not be in the draw and
will be given the remaining starting boat numbers as
their entry is received. Get your entries in early and
