Certification of Social responsibility management
system according to the specification IQNet SR 10
By CQS
Management systems according to
ISO 9001 provide an important contribution
to the development of organizations´
quality management
systems since the 1990s.
ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 enable
to implement the principles of
environmental management and
health&safety principles into the
management of organizations.
There are many other standards
which help to implement management
systems in other specific areas.
The fulfilment of these principles in
organizations is verified by the management
systems certification and
surveillance the systems.
The success of any company or organization
is significantly influenced
by its management, employees,
clients and customers, the environment
in which the company operates, and by
many other factors.
Success is largely determined by social
relationships between stakeholders in
the broadest sense of the word, therefore
between the entities that have any
interest in organization’s activities.
Social responsibility is reflected in the
quality of relationships, which are to a
large extent perceived on the level of interpersonal
relationships.
Therein lays a significant difference of
the social responsibility aspects from the
perspectives, according which the management
systems built on the standards
mentioned above are assessed.
Since it is not easy to standardize requirements
for socially responsible
companies, the Standard ISO 26000 -
Guidance on social responsibility was
issued in 2010.
The standard defines the core subjects
and issues that need to be taken into
account when building a socially responsible
company.
The core issues taken into account in
the standards are particularly human
rights, labour practices, the environment,
fair operating practices, consumer
issues and community involvement
and development.
Special attention deserves the part of
the standards with the title Fair operating
practices that covers issues like
Anti-corruption, Responsible political
involvement, Fair competition, Promoting
social responsibility in the value
chain and Respect for property rights.
The current political situation and the
social mood in the Czech Republic show
that citizens of the republic perceive the
aspects more and more sensitively.
The advantage of the ISO 26000 standard
is that it allows building awareness
of social responsibility of the organization
and its public perception systematically,
which is much more effective
than a form of ethic and other codes
that appear to improve the image of
companies and organizations.
The introduction of the social responsibility
management system first of all
means implementation of a program of
measures to ensure socially responsible
behaviour of the organization affecting
its image in natural manner.
The importance of social responsibility
motivates organizations not only to
introduce the social responsibility elements
to their management
systems, but it leads them to
have the social responsibility management
systems certified.
For this purpose, the international certification
network IQNet has created
specification IQNet SR 10 - social responsibility
management system.
Specification defines requirements for
social responsibility management systems
for organizations that are committed
to compliance with the existing
principles and recommendations of
social responsibility, particularly those
specified in the standard ISO 26000.
The advantage of the specification
IQNet SR 10 lays in the fact that it uses
renowned Deming´s PDCA cycle and
has a structure compatible with the
structure of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and
OHSAS 18001 standards.
It also means that the management
system according to the IQNet SR 10
can be integrated into systems
based on these standards.
The specifications IQNet SR 10 is one of
the concrete results of the cooperation
within the international certification
network IQNet, which brings together
36 certification organizations from
around the world.
IQNet also provides the social responsibility
management certification system
according to the SA 8000 standard. The
Czech Republic is represented in IQNet
by the certification body CQS - Association
for the Certification of Quality
Systems, which will celebrate its 20th
area of management systems next year.
in June 2012. The awarding ceremony
took place in the framework of the Gala
evening TOP 100 Czech companies.
The holder of the certificate is a company
CAR CLUB, Ltd., which offers a
comprehensive program of products
the CAR CLUB, Ltd. is from the
point of view of the content and form of
its activities naturally focused on social
responsibility.
Most of the CAR CLUB, Ltd. employees
are physically handicapped people. We
believe that over time the social responsibility
Leading Private Security organization achieves IQNet Business
Continuity Management certification through IRAM in Argentina
By Mr Juan Cocci, Country Manager, PROSEGUR ARGENTINA
The business environment today
is dynamic and turbulent, which
increases the likelihood of unforeseen
disruptions on its operations.
In PROSEGUR ARGENTINA we think
that our clients need to be protected
in the best possible way, therefore
we decide on the “prediction” to address
proactively the potential consequences
of the unforeseen events,
by the implementation and certification
of a Business Continuity Management
System (BCMS).
Business Continuity Management implies
the capability to recover or carry
on the company activities in case of disruption,
and sustains an overall program
through trainings, exercises and reviews,
to ensure that the Business
Continuity Plan is kept current
and updated.
PROSEGUR ARGENTINA started two
years ago the implementation of a BCMS
based on the British Standard BS 25999-
2:2007 - Business Continuity Management
Specification.
This project aims to provide the products
and services of Transportation of
Valuables Business with its sufficient
strength to protect critical processes,
and in this way to restore the operations
as soon as possible to an acceptable
level of service, compatible with
the customer’s needs. The scope in this
first stage was focused on the activities
carried out in Cash Management, Logistics
of Valuables, and the Remote
Monitoring Center areas in PLANT
NAZCA. It is important to highlight that
this plant concentrates 43% of the total
business activities in the country.
PROSEGUR ARGENTINA BCMS is based
on four principles, part of its policy:
- Risk Management: Prosegur manages
continuity risks under a BCM System
that provides the required coverage
to successful deal with crisis
scenarios.
- Criticality: Prosegur BCMS guides
and prioritizes all means, actions and
efforts taking into account the criticality
of its business´ processes.
- Continuity: Prosegur believes that
many of its processes are a fundamental
part of its customers operations,
and that ensure continuity is a key for
success. Prosegur BCMS has defined its
objectives in services level depending
on crisis or disaster scenarios.
- Protection of persons: Prosegur
BCMS defines the appropriate actions
for the safeguard of lives and welfare
of employees in case of an incident.
The certification process under the requirements
of BS 25999-2 began with
audit for the Phase 1 plan on July 18th
and 19th 2012, followed for the certification
audit (Phase 2) between August
30th and September 2th of 2012. The
process was conducted by IQNet, the International
Certification Network based
in Berne (Switzerland), with the participation
of auditors from IRAM (Argentine
Institute of Standardization and Certification),
as part of it.
On September 5th 2012, IQNet delivered
the BCMS BS 25999-2 certification
to PROSEGUR ARGENTINA, with the following
scope:
All services provided in Cash Management,
ATM Management, Logistics
of Valuables and Remote Monitoring
Central on Nazca Plant.
It is to note that by obtaining the BS
25999-2 certification Prosegur is
placed as a worldwide pioneer in
the Logistics of Values area with this recognition.
It was essential for the success of this
project the creation of a “teamwork” responsible
for its planning and execution,
conformed by different levels of active
employees from al the mentioned areas,
as well as the Quality Management Area.
success had solid foundations based on
a clear definition of the project´s goals,
DQS eSolutions: Innovation goes online!
Evaluate and develop your management system
By DQS
DQS eSolutions has been started.
The platform, which offers online
self-evaluations and eLearning on
the subject of management systems
and international standards, was developed
by DQS Holding GmbH, the
umbrella organization of the international
DQS UL Group.
DQS eSolutions merges two important
components into one strong foundation:
DQS eAssessment and DQS eLearning.
When it comes to questions on management
systems and the structure and conduct
of audits, users are given important
input and impetus. Sebastian Timmel,
Chief Developer: “DQS eAssessment is a
comfortable, affordable, and easy-to-use
way to evaluate your own management
system. It is ideally suited to internal auditing,
gap analyses, or to prepare
for a certification process.” DQS eAssessment
offers a variety of modules on
popular management systems, as well as
general business subjects. Checklists and
tools for analyses supply a solid appraisal
of the maturity of the entire management
systems or parts thereof. This allows for
easy deduction of the next steps in the
continuous improvement process.
The platform’s eLearning component allows
auditors and other experts to share
their know-how with the users. The system
encourages employees, technical
experts and supervisors to expand their
horizons in regards to management systems,
standards, and audits.
“We are offering DQS eSolutions worldwide
in almost all markets, which is why
we designed it in English from the beginning,“
states Sebastian Timmel. “We continue
to expand our portfolio step-bystep,
both content-wise and by adding
multi-lingual user interfaces”. Subjects
already implemented on DQS eSolutions
include Quality Management according
to ISO 9001, Occupational Health and
Safety (BS OHSAS 18001), Energy Management
(ISO 50001), and Service Excellence
as the event venue, because it allows a
higher participation of Caribbean area,
Central and South America.
In turn, Mr. Rob Steele, ISO and ISO
CASCO Secretary-General, mentioned
specially the hard work carried out by
DQS UL Group establishes new company
for Food Safety Solutions
By DQS
DQS UL Group has grown by adding
another subsidiary: with DQS
UL CFSI / DQS UL Food Safety Solutions
GmbH, located in Frankfurt am
Main (Germany), the group focusses
on the requirements of safety and
hygiene management. Managing
Director of the new company, which
commenced operations in June
2012, is Dr.-Ing. Sied Sadek.
Interview
What exactly is the range of services
offered by this new member of DQS
UL Group, and who are your target
customers
Our main focus is on consumer goods,
particularly food and feed, textiles, cosmetics,
and other articles of daily use.
At this time, our service portfolio comprises
of more than 40 different
standards and legal requirements, such
as the industry standards FSSC, IFS Standard,
IFS Logistics, IFS Broker, IFS HPC; as
well as BRC IoP and BRC Consumer. We
are also authorized certification body
for the SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange)
guidelines. With all of this, we
are able to cover all of the essential requirements
for safety and hygiene management
that manufacturers, logistics
providers, and retailers have to meet
along their chain of supply.
The new company used to be a business
unit within DQS GmbH. What
spoke in favour of spinning off this
unit into an independent company
The “Food Safety” unit of DQS GmbH
was established in the year 2002, and
had already received their first authorizations
for QS and BRC. In the course of
the years, though, this unit had grown
disproportionately, developing into a
compact-sized “one-stop” competence
centre, where customers were provided
with everything from the initial contact
all the way through to the issue of their
certificate. In addition, the boundaries
between product and system certification
are more in flux in our business
sector than most other. It was therefore
only logical to take this step now, especially
in light of an internationally growing
market.
What will change for your customers now
The new company structure will allow
us much more proximity to our
customers, an opportunity that is particularly
close to my heart: I intend to
spend about 80 % of my time in direct
customer contact. We want to use faceto-face
meetings to consistently align
our services with the needs of our customers,
as well as to win new customers.
And being a 100 % subsidiary of
DQS UL Group, we enjoy the backing
of a strong full-service provider. So no
matter which assessment services our
customers need to maintain or improve
their competitive ability - they can be
provided from one source.
