Notes regarding the records section:
• From 1971-82, goals counted for one point in player individual statistics. For sake
of comparsion, point totals prior to the 1983 season in this record section have been
adjusted to meet today’s standards: two points for a goal, one point for an assist.
• Two types of shots have been recorded through the years. “Shots on Goal” produce
either a goal or a goalkeeper save. SOGs were recorded during the following years:
1971, 1973-80, 1986-89, 1990-94. In accordance with the latest NCAA rulebook, a
shot is now defined as any “kick directed towards goal with the intent to score” — no
matter how wide or high. This definition has been in use since the 1995 season and
was previously applied during the period of 1981-85.
• The same criteria holds true for “Shots Faced” by goalkeepers. From 1971, ‘73-
80, ‘86-89, ‘90-94, only “Shots on Goal” were recorded while under today’s scoring
procedures, any shot directed towards goal counts as a “Shot Faced” (this was true
for the 1981-85 seasons, ‘95-present).
• Starting in 2005, games became shorter in length as NCAA overtimes went from
two 15-minute periods to two 10-minute periods.
