Your prayers and contributions have been instrumental in
the successful and blessed conduct of our ministry.
Multitudes were saved in the ministry of the last month.
Lord immensely blessed all families who attended the
Blessed Family Prayer.
In the sight of the Lord your family is very important. We, the
Jesus Redeems Prayer Team, specially pray for all those who have been
reading this magazine. You too should please pray as a family every day. Whatever
problems you may encounter in your family, please let us know at once. We shall

It has been my intention to make a trip to the affected parts of Orissa and
strengthen the children of God. Please pray for that God willing, I should visit this

The roofing of the House of God has begun. Please pray that this work should go

n the year 1972, the Lord was
gracious enough to save me and I received
the joy of salvation. The joy of having
Jesus within me filled me.
I had a thought within myself:
“Hereafter all my attempts will turn out to
be successful! Because Jesus is with me, I
will always be blessed.”
However, the year I received salvation,
I failed in my exams for the first time in my
life.
I had to face questions and rebukes. I
was disheartened.
At this juncture, it was my mother who
strengthened me in Christ Jesus, saying,
“As you get closer and closer to God, you
will have to face trials and tribulations. You
should remain firm even amidst these
troubles.”

YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLE!

Then I began to understand that the life
of a Christian is a troublesome path.
In 1975, heeding to God's call, I
dedicated myself completely to His
ministry. I was expecting everyone to
encourage me as I launched into ministry.
But, things happened contrary to my
expectations. Christians themselves were
talking ill of me, alleging of things I had not
done, or had not said. This made me feel
disheartened.
One night, alone at the feet of God I was
shedding tears: “Lord, I don't want this
ministry. Please leave me alone. They are
accusing me of things I have not done.”
At that time, Jesus Christ met me face to
face. “Son, have a look at my ministry. The
world was jeering at me too! They accused
me! They protested against me! Amid all
those turmoil, I carried on with my

ministry. You too should carry on like me
with your ministry. In your ministry, you
will come across trials and tribulations.
But, I am there before you; any trouble
should cross my presence before it reaches
you. Carry your cross and follow me.”
Thus He spoke to me.
In those days I learnt the lesson that
ministry has to be done amid problems. I
gave myself up for a life full of ordeal. I
dedicated myself, with the promise that, “I
will never retract the step that I have put
forward.”
From that day on, the Lord gave me a
heart that never gets disheartened. That is
why I never lose heart even if some one
speaks or writes ill of me or my ministry.
Twice during my ministerial work in
Rajasthan and once in Madya Pradesh and
in Varnasi, there was only one foot between
me and death.
Religious extremists attempted to
murder me. They were chasing me with
lethal weapons. But the Lord was with me
protecting me in the shadow of His hands.
Yet, the Lord has been giving me the
grace to visit North India for ministry, every
year.
Dear friends, Christian life is full of
trials and tribulation. Following Christ is
not like walking on a soft cotton bed. It is
walking on a rough path of stones and
thorns! So, don't be disheartened by the
troubles that you are facing today.
TAKE COURAGE!
Is it possible to be courageous amid
trials and tribulation Even a small problem
sets in weariness!
To be of courage in the midst of trials,
think only about Jesus Christ. “For
consider him that endured such
contradiction of sinners against himself,
lest ye be wearied and faint in your
minds.” (Heb. 12:3)
Think only about Christ who had to
endure trials, tribulation, mockery and
rebuke! Jesus, who never did any harm
to any one, had to still suffer.
“For this is thankworthy, if a man
for conscience toward God endure grief,
suffering wrongfully.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be
buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it
patiently but if, when ye do well, and
suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is
acceptable with God.
For even hereunto were ye called:
because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that ye should
follow his steps: ” (I Peter 2:19-21)
Christ has left behind a model for us to
emulate, to follow His footsteps. Hence,
don't get disheartened at trials and
tribulation; instead rejoice.
“But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are
partakers of Christ's sufferings; that,
when his glory shall be revealed, ye may
be glad also with exceeding joy.”
(I Peter 4:13)

We are not partners with Jesus Christ in
His blessings alone but also in His
sufferings.
“Yet if any man suffer as a Christian,
let him not be ashamed; but let him
glorify God on this behalf.” (I Peter 4:16).
In the place of your work, in your
business, in the place of your residence, in
your family, you may confront problems
and trials! Don't get disheartened! Be of
courage!
PRAY!
When we have to face
trials and tribulation, what
should we do The word of
God gives us this advice:
“Is any among you
afflicted let him pray. Is
any merry let him sing
psalms.” (James 5:13)
When we are faced with trials, we
should pray. We can surmount trials,
only through prayer. When troubles
increase, increase your prayer.
We should pray for those who suffer.
We should not selfishly pray only for
ourselves. The children of God should
look around themselves, take note of the
happenings around, and pray. Most
importantly, we should keenly observe
whatever is happening in India.
SUFFERING IN ORISSA!
We are all aware of the attacks on
Christians in Orissa. However, it is better
for us to know all details and pray. So, I am
giving here the reports published in 'The
Junior Vikatan', 'Kumudham Reporter.'
One of the leaders of Vishva Hindu
Parishad, the eighty year old Sadhu Swami
Laxmanananda Saraswathi, after comple
ting his pujas, was walking down the road
with four people.
It was 9:15 at night and as he was
nearing his Jalespata Ashram a mob
accosted him.
When the swamiji looked up, he was
shocked to find more than 30 people, with
lethal weapons in hand. Before he could
realize what was happening, they shot at
him point blank and disappeared into the
darkness. The swamiji and his disciples
tumbled down and died.
At night itself the news of his death
spread. The people, when they saw the
swami in a pool of blood, were bewildered.
From the moment they got the news, the
Hidutwa youth were agitated.
Who could have done it “Could it be
the Christians” A young man raised this
doubt
Many shouted in anger that revenge
should be taken. At the end, in order to
register their protest, all Hindu
organisations planned a bandh. Besides
Vishva Hindu Parishad, RSS and
Bajrangdal too took part in this agitation.
On that scheduled day, from the
morning itself there was tension and rage
prevailing in the State. Now and then, the
leaders were adding fuel to fire with their
provoking words. The result was
disastrous. Buses were stopped all over
the State. All vehicles passing by were
smashed.
Churches and worship centres were
targeted. The rioters entered all

Christian regions and thrashed whoever
they could get hold of.
When it grew darker, in regions like
Naughan, Rhga, Udayagiri, Bringia and
Paliguda, they set fire to churches and
houses too.
As the peak of all atrocities, an
orphanage run by Christians was burnt
down by a mob.
Three people trapped inside the
orphanage died of asphyxiation.
As riots continue, there is curfew
imposed and also shoot at sight order at
anyone suspicious.
Yet, rioters keep strolling on roads.
Among the riot torn districts of Orissa,
Khandmal is significant, as the Australian
missionary Graham Stuward Steins with
his two sons was burnt alive by a violent
Hindu group in the
jeep.
This brought to
light the kind of
atrocities happening
in Orissa.

of 2007, 14 chur
ches were vanda
lized and one
person was
murdered.
Khandmal district is infamous for such
acts. The reason for this is Swami
Lakshmananda Saraswati who settled in
that district forty years ago.

ORISSA IS BURNING!
As a result of the killing of Swami
Lakshmananda Saraswati, member of
Margadasa mandal of Vishva Hindu
Parishad and his five disciples, there is a
upsurge of violent riots in Orissa. The
rioters, who have targeted Christians,
have killed seven persons, including a
woman.
Though there is curfew in force in more
than 14 States, unrest still prevails. For
some reason or the other, in a few districts
people have converted to Christianity.
Hindutva groups have been on a drive to
reconvert them.
The hostility spurred by such events has
been the cause of religious riots. On the day
of the bandh, the rioters launched an attack
with clubs in hand. In Khundabali village a
mob of about 200 people entered an
orphanage.
They chased out the 22 children from
there and set fire to the ashram. They
threw the pastor and a 25 year old
woman, who were in charge of the
orphanage, into the fire. The pastor was
saved but the young woman died. Another
mob set fire to the entire village of Ruba.
In the police firing that ensued, four
rioters were killed. In a place called Mayli,
three including a woman were killed.
In Kandhmal district, in Thummidi
panda, Bulbani, and Baliguda, churches
and prayer houses were vandalized,

IT'S ORISSA THIS TIME!
There is a new proverb now in Indian
politics, 'Religious riots go before
elections.' Oriassa is burning.

Fourteen people have been killed!
Thousands of homes have been burnt!
Churches, schools, hospitals, not even
orphanages were spared…everything has
reduced to ashes! More than 50,000
Christians have fled to the forest for
refuge!
After Gujarat, it's Orissa, was the
warning sounded much earlier; yet, the
Government was deaf to this warning.
This warning was sounded about ten
years ago when the Australian missionary
Graham Stuward Steins and his sons Philip
and Timothy were burnt alive by Sang
Pariwar mobs.
In the same year a pastor from Tamil
Nadu, Fr. Aruldoss was shot by an arrow
and killed.
On March 16, 2002, VHP workers
entered Orissa assembly and smashed
everything.
Thus slowly and steadily religious
fundamentalist venom was injected into
Orissa and the State Government was
supporting this.
In Dec. 2008 itself there was a
preparatory rehearsal for these riots. On
Dec. 23, results for the Gujarat assembly
polls were released and Mr. Narendra Modi
had won.
The shout of victory that Gujarat was
celebrating reverberated in Orissa the very
next day. The Sangh Pariwar groups happily
launched into an attack.
They pulled out Pastor Juanes Dighal,
traveling in a bus and beat him up.
They tore his clothes and made him
walk naked in the streets.
Christmas decorations in churches
were pulled down and pandals were
burnt.
Within three
days in Kandhmal
5 big churches and
48 village churches,
5 convents, 7
hostels and
several Christian organizations were set
fire to.
In the shoot out by Sang Pariwar
volunteers, two children, Chillu and
Avinash were severely wounded.
The State Government didn't come
forward to put an end to violence and bring
in peace. The present attacks are a
continuation of the December violence.
In Orissa, Christians are only 2.4% of
the entire population. In Khandmal, the
target of the present attacks, 16% are
Christians.
The Hindutva groups have been
working among the tribals of Orissa for a
very long time. In Orissa alone, RSS is
running 6,000 'Shakkas' of 1½ lakh full
time volunteers.
Such organized activities are
responsible for the slow growth of
religious fanaticism in Orissa.
The conversion of the tribals into
Hindus is the first priority of the Sangh
Pariwar. This kind of coversion of tribals
into Christians and Hindus began during the
British rule itself.
The 'Pana' tribe marginalized by the
British as a robber-tribe, was treated by the
caste Hindus as untouchables, and hence a
majority of them embraced Christianity.

So, the Sangh Pariwar set the 'Kandha'
and other tribes against these converted
Christians consistently.
In the violence that erupted last
December, the Government and the Sangh
Pariwar jointly organized all attacks,
according to reports.
To set right this State of affairs, Mr.
Navin Patnaik's Government never took
any steps. It is no exaggeration if we say
that the present violence is a cause of this
indifferent behaviour.
There is now a case filed in the Supreme
Court that the CBI should probe Orissa
atrocities. Even if the court complies with
this request, we can't say that the minority
Christians of Orissa will get any security.
As the elections are approaching, one
can expect the violent frenzy of the Sang
Pariwar to be let loose. Their plan is to
capture power by riding on religious

Only if we have a clear idea of all that is
happening in Orissa, we can pray fervently
for the State. That is why I have compiled all
these details from magazines.
Moreover, Sathyam TV reporters had
gone there personally to find out the facts
and they have video graphed everything.
The police standing guard for the rioters, the
police man picking up the knife dropped by
a murderous person and offering it to him,
the religious fundamentalists letting their
flag flutter on top of an ancient churchmany
such scenes are in the video.
There is no connection between
Christians and the murder of Swami
Laxmanananda Saraswati. In an
interview to the Oriyan daily newspaper
called, 'Sambad', a person named Asad, a
naxalite of the People Liberation Gorilla
Army has claimed that he was the one who
murdered this swami.
The attacks on Christians are
preplanned ones, with the motive of
destroying Christians under some pretext.
In this scenario, what should we, the
children of God do
We should pray!
We should pray a lot!
Individually…as family…as
groups…as congregation…we should
all pray.
We should increase our prayers.
We should pray fervently for all our
brothers and sisters who have been
affected!
We should also pray for our brothers
who have caused these attacks!
HOW TO PRAY!
“Lord, strengthen our dear brothers and
sisters in their faith; let them not get
disheartened! Strengthen them and let them
not grow weak in faith and retract.
Console those who have been attacked
and are living amid the damages.”
Thus we should pray for the strength of
the affected Christians!
“Lord, give the affected children of God
the grace to forgive those who attacked
them. Prevent them from attacks of
retaliation; help them to reflect the love of
God, and to preserve their good witness.”
Thus you should pray.
“Lord, please forgive all those who
tortured your people, burnt your churches,
and murdered your servants! If you punish
them for their sins, who can stand firm

Please forgive and save them and transform
them as your witnesses and your servants!
Meet all those religious fundamentalists
and leaders who induced violence. Remove
their violent murderous instincts.” Thus
pray for those who organized these attacks.
“Lord, let the destroyed churches be
rebuilt! Let the demolished houses be
reconstructed! Let all those believers and
your servants get back all the things that
they lost!” Thus pray for the blessing of all
affected children of God, and for the
ministries to thrive!
“May the Lord forgive all those unjust
police men! Meet all those unjust political
leaders! Give a just heart to those in power,
to rule without caste and religious
discrimination! Let your justice rule over
the nation! Thus pray for the leaders of the
State.
Thus pray repeating each item carefully.
It is not suffice if you just pray…!
NEED TO HELP!

Jesus Christ has said, “…Inasmuch as
ye have done it unto one of the least of
these my brethren, ye have done it unto
me.” (Matt. 25:40)
The Lord has given us a chance to help
Jesus. When we take it upon ourselves to do
it, it delights the Lord. Your reward will be
high in heaven!

When we pray and act, the Lord will be
glorified. When He rejoices, He blesses us

In your life too, when there are troubles
and tribulation, don't lose courage. We have
the Jesus who won over the world. He shall
help us.
It is not enough if we pray for the
affected brothers and sisters! We have
to help those who are standing there
helplessly, having lost their churches,
houses and possessions.
To buy the things that they have lost, to
rebuild their houses, to construct their
Churches, we should do whatever we can.
We may not be able to help all; yet, we
should definitely do what we can.
Our Jesus Redeems ministry has started
the, 'New Life Society' for the purpose of
reaching out during such situations.
Now itself many children of God have
stared extending a helping hand by sending

I had been afflicted for many
days with allergy, marked by the
outward symptoms of
irritation and tears in eyes,
sore-throat, running
nose and congestion. I
had also joint-pain for two
years. By God's grace, I
was fully relieved from the
chain of physical discomforts.

I had been suffering from
diabetes for 3 years. Before starting for
the meeting, I told my husband that I
wouldn't fast in the meeting, at the risk
to my health. Therefore, my husband
permitted me to attend
the Fasting Prayer.

Mohan C. Lazarus said,
“Don't allow room for
anything that may bar your
fasting. The doctors may advise that
diabetics should not fast. But we have a

physicians on earth. So the diabetics too
can fast.”
These words generated faith in
me. God helped me to fast. Usually the
sugar level in my blood will oscillate
between the high and the low, thus
crossing the normal level. But when I
prayed fasting, I had no symptoms like
giddiness, tremor, tiredness and
sleepiness. Instead, my faith has
become strengthened through the fasting
prayer. I have found the Supreme
Physician, who I should depend on.

disorder in spine, I attended the
Thirappin Vaasal Fasting Prayer. At the

“One particular sister is

healing her now. Sister,

faith.” I was surprised with

From October 2, the government would
introduce the no smoking policy in all indoor
establishments," Union Health Minister
Anbumani Ramadoss told reporters in
Bangalore on Tuesday. The "workplace
smoke-free policy" is coming into effect to
coincide with the birth anniversary of
Mahatma Gandhi.
"Smoking will not be permitted in
any private or public building. Companies
can no longer have designated smoking rooms.
Smokers will have to step outside into open
space if they wish to smoke," said Ramadoss
who has been in the forefront in pushing for the
ban on tobacco and tobacco products. The ban
applies to all companies, including the IT
sector, he said. Companies could no longer
have designated smoking rooms, he said.
The rule would also apply to small
cafes, restaurants, pubs or discotheques.
Hotels having more than 30 seat arrangement
would have to create a separate enclosure for
smokers and a separate ventilation
