Camp Combe YMCA - Fall/Winter/Spring 07/08
Creating memories and friends to last a lifetime!
Dear Parents:
At the Camp Combe YMCA we take our mission to build strong kids,
strong families and strong communities seriously. The primary goal
of our summer day camp is to create a safe, fun environment in which
every child feels valued and every parent feels welcome. We are excited
by the opportunity to extend this goal to our off-season programs.
In this brochure you will find information about new programs, special
events and unique opportunities here at camp. Opportunities for your
kids to make new friendships or to strengthen old ones. A chance for
your family to make the most of fall, winter, and spring together.
We hope you’ll take advantage of these programs. We particularly
encourage you to consider the YMCA Adventure Guides program
(for children grades, K-3). The Y Guides program is a long-standing
parent-child program that provides a wonderful opportunity to establish
a life-long friendship with your child. It is a program that we love. Thad
has been in the program with both of our children and we really enjoy
being a part of it from a staff perspective as well.
We have also included some advance information on registration for
next year’s summer camp. Based on our experience last year, we urge
you to register as early as you can. Spots will certainly fill up quickly.
We look forward to seeing you and your family.
Sincerely,
Thad Gifford-Smith, Camp Director
What is the
Y-Adventure Guides program
Formerly known as Indian Guides, YMCA
Adventure Guides is a unique program
that allows parents and their children to
participate together in a wide range of
memorable experiences. As a member
of Y-Adventure Guides, you will have the
opportunity to develop a stronger relationship
with your child by joining a small
“Circle” of other parent-child pairs. Circles
have monthly meetings in member’s
homes; they plan activities, play games,
make crafts, and complete community
service projects. In addition to regular
meetings, circles participate in fun-filled
events such as cool day trips, weekend
campouts, parties or parades. Several
times a year there are Federation Events—
large scale events (like the Circus, kite day,
& sporting events) involving all
circles within the tri-state area.
nture Guides
es, and Great Memories
Why join Y-Guides
Because it provides what parents and children both need—
a structured opportunity to spend high quality, one-on-one
time together. Because it’s fun. Because it introduces you to
other parents and children of a similar age. Because the
memories you create together really do last a lifetime.
“Y-Guides is a wonderful program. My daughter and I have a great
time together—it’s made a huge difference in our relationship.”
-father of 8 year-old girl
