The VISA Purchas<strong>in</strong>g Card Program empowers program adm<strong>in</strong>istrat<strong>or</strong>s to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><br />

control of company spend<strong>in</strong>g without hav<strong>in</strong>g to manually approve each transaction.<br />

On a cardholder by cardholder basis, daily <strong>or</strong> monthly transaction auth<strong>or</strong>ization limits<br />

Card use can be limited to specific merchant categ<strong>or</strong>ies, and companies may choose to<br />

block certa<strong>in</strong> merchant types all together. F<strong>or</strong> example, many programs allow<br />

restrictions to prevent card use at cas<strong>in</strong>os and jewellers.<br />

Transaction auth<strong>or</strong>ization controls are established when the card is requested, and the<br />

card is delivered with the controls already <strong>in</strong> place. The program adm<strong>in</strong>istrat<strong>or</strong> can<br />

easily change the restrictions as required to reflect changes <strong>in</strong> c<strong>or</strong>p<strong>or</strong>ate policy <strong>or</strong><br />

cardholder’s responsibility.<br />

While employee misuse is rare, C<strong>or</strong>p<strong>or</strong>ate Liability Insurance (CLI) provides a waiver of<br />

a Company's liability f<strong>or</strong> unauth<strong>or</strong>ized charges up to $50,000 per enrolled VISA<br />

Purchas<strong>in</strong>g Card f<strong>or</strong> unauth<strong>or</strong>ized charges made by employee cardholders.<br />

The VISA Purchas<strong>in</strong>g Card Program gives companies the choice of three bill<strong>in</strong>g<br />

options:<br />

• Centralized company bill<strong>in</strong>g and payment<br />

• Individual cardholder bill<strong>in</strong>g with centralized company payment provides<br />

cardholders with a list of all related transactions f<strong>or</strong> verification purposes<br />

• Individual cardholder bill<strong>in</strong>g with <strong>in</strong>dividual payment<br />

Depend<strong>in</strong>g on a company’s expense rep<strong>or</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g practices cardholders may <strong>or</strong> may not<br />

require a monthly statement. By hav<strong>in</strong>g a choice of three different options companies<br />

can chose the solution that w<strong>or</strong>ks best with<strong>in</strong> their <strong>or</strong>ganization.<br />

Card charges can be assigned to specific expense accounts, posted to a general<br />

ledger and consolidated on one <strong>or</strong> m<strong>or</strong>e statements. The accounts payable department<br />

pays f<strong>or</strong> all purchases with one cheque <strong>in</strong>stead of issu<strong>in</strong>g multiple cheques to multiple<br />

vend<strong>or</strong>s.<br />
