Roger Barrett, Sr. allowed filming of the dramatic seizure scenes at his homestead in Bolton, while Roger Barrett, Jr. of Country Carpenters graciously allowed filming at Early New England Homes, also in Bolton. Fred Brehant hosted filming at his Hebron property, and John Baron also offered filming at his Hebron property. John Allegra’s farm in East Haddam was used for a particularly dramatic wagon scene. The Hebron Lions property witnessed an eerie scene with dense fog for another wagon scene; thanks especially to John Soderberg for being on location during that filming. With such an intense filming schedule, feeding the large number of cast and crew was a primary task. The Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. and Troop 28 Boy Scouts provided delicious meals on Friday and Saturday. Other meals were provided by Ted’s IGA, Hebron Historical Society, Carolyn Anderson and her RHAM class, and Caroline and Jessica Troy. Accommodations for Vermont native Phillisa Jones Prescott and her three daughters were provided by John and Wendy Raymond at their Amston Manor. Chris Ambrose housed New York-based Ethan Frank, while Pat and Dan Larson hosted Bianca Jamotte and Richard Mays, also based in New York City. Andy and Lara Bordick hosted Karyl Evans and her assistants. Caroline Troy’s house, including the hallways, had beds everywhere for up to 15 production crew members from New York. It should be noted that local residents had a good time one night at Butterball’s when Jamotte, Frank and Mays engaged in traditional karaoke! Fred Brehant, who served as Creative Consultant on properties and locations, handcrafted slave shackles and a sword that were key to the film. Brehant, who grew a scruffy beard for his role as a slavetrader, also made his brain-tanned shirt. Holly Rebello of Hidden Brook Stables in Lebanon and Jim and Kathie Gregory of Pride’s Farm in Amston provided horses for the production’s most dramatic scenes. The Gregory’s Dazzle was ridden by Brehant. Rebello’s Tucker was ridden by T.J. McGuire, Ozzie was ridden by Gregory, and Mistery was ridden by Steven Goode. Rebello and Kathie Gregory served as trainers for the actors, working with them for several weeks prior to production. Local and area residents also volunteered their enormous talent and skills to the production. Lori Lee-Strobl (Hebron) worked with casting, while Cheryl Hastings (Norwich) worked as a general Production Assistant in almost every production department. Tina Blinn (Hebron) served as Quality Management Production Assistant, whether it was researching local assets needed for filming, creating detailed maps used by the approximate 100 cast members, managing the long lines for hair and makeup, or parking cars! Bulgarian-born Ivalyo Getov (left), now a Los Angeles resident, served as Cinematographer for <strong>Testimonies</strong>. Despite their years-long friendship, Getov and Matthew Troy, Writer and Director, had never done a film together until the May filming. Donna Raheb, author of the popular Henrietta Ham children’s book series, used her skills in sound production and served as Boom Operator. Sarah Trobough (East Hampton) used her sewing skills on a number of occasions, but also filled in wherever needed. Richard Fleming (Ashford) served as Craft Services Manager. Jean Cyr, HHS Treasurer, is especially credited for managing the project budget. Special thanks go to Jon Minard for providing much of the lighting equipment. Marla Miner hand-sewed the Betsy Ross flag which will be displayed at Old Town Hall following the production. Hair and makeup services were provided by Shattered Endz of Colchester; special thanks to Debbie Rushford, Vicki Miorelli, Alyce Pipton and Cindy Klaja for their patience and flexibility. Following the September 27 th premiere, the production principals plan to distribute the film throughout the state school system and submit to various film competitions.
