The City of Westmount prides itself on providing excellent municipal
variety of programmes and events presented by the Sports, Recreation
Our objective is to offer a myriad of activities and events for all ages
and interests. We hope you will take a few minutes to read this
to get involved in some capacity, please do not hesitate to let us know.
WELCOME MESSAGE
The Victoria Hall Community Centre is the place for cultural events
and recreation activities. Since 1899, generations of Westmounters
have passed through its doors to attend concerts, flower shows, ballet
classes, theatre productions and a myriad of other activities offered
by the City. Originally known as Victoria Jubilee Hall, it was
rebuilt in 1925 after a fire and now also includes the Gallery at Victoria
Hall, which offers public exhibitions featuring works by local
artists. The Gallery links Victoria Hall to the Library via the Conservatory.
Every month the Events Division also produces concerts,
plays or workshops, making Victoria Hall a hub of activities for residents
of all ages.
The Westmount Public Library personnel invites you to discover –
and rediscover – the myriad of services it offers, including author
events, story hour, the summer reading club for kids, cultural lectures
and a free eBook lending service.
The beauty of our collections and the space that houses them, as
well as our quality of service, are part of what makes this century-old
library one of Westmount’s heritage gems.
Make the most of the advantages of the Westmount Library card,
free for Westmount residents. With this card, you can borrow any of
the more than 185,000 items in our collection – books, periodicals,
films, compact discs – to enjoy in your leisure time or to gather whatever
information you need to complete a school or professional research
project. You can even now download ebooks from your
favourite reading chair at any time. Spending time at the Library,
whether for pleasure or for research, is always a rewarding experience.
All of the information contained in this booklet – a more sustainable
and environmentally-friendly document – is also available at
COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS
The City of Westmount is very proud of its tradition of citizen involvement,
volunteering to work alongside City personnel at municipal events
and activities. To that end, the Community Events Division provides
support to Westmount residents and community groups interested
