The recent publication of the FICAM roadmap is bringing much needed change to the world of physical and logical security.
There is a clear need for a roadmap that will provide consistent guidance with respect to policies, technologies, and
standards. At the same time, the IT sector has witnessed the emergence of a new paradigm in the delivery of software
services; namely, “cloud computing” or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Physical security providers have been quick to adopt
these underlying technologies and leverage them for a variety of new offerings collectively known in the industry as
Security-as-a-Service.
A co-founder of Brivo Systems, Steve served first as CTO and more recently as President and CEO. Steve helped launch Brivo
after serving as Director of Internet Consulting for Sapient Corporation. He has led Internet strategy development in the
healthcare informatics industry for HCIA Inc. and has over 10 years experience in wireless communications. Steve was
honored in 2008 with his election to the Security Industry Association’s Board of Directors and has written widely in industry
publications and has spoken at major industry gatherings.

Cloud computing, desktop virtualization, and social networks are among many emerging trends in the Federal IT
marketplace, however, they have increased the vulnerability of organizations to cyber attack, identity theft, and a myriad of
risks to information security. This presentation will provide a high-level overview of these trends, and how security
professionals are adapting their defense strategy to mitigate exposures and risks in these new technology landscapes.
Mr. Darnell Washington has over 25 years of professional information technology experience and is actively involved in the
design of secure network information technology architectures for Federal, Financial, Educational, and Commercial clients.
Darnell has received recognition from the Department of Transportation and the Department of Commerce for innovative
wireless designs and continuity of operations solutions. He has trained agents from police investigative agencies such as the
Secret Service and, New York City Police Department, and Customs and Border Protection.

Cyber attacks against governments and critical infrastructures throughout the world reached historic heights in 2009. Here
in the U.S., cyber attacks and cyber breaches against the federal government are now tallied in the thousands monthly. We
understand that we are at risk, but just what are the threats, how are they perpetrated; against whom and what are the
real consequences of this kind of “holistic terror” against our institutions and critical infrastructures The traditional notion
of cyber threat through enterprise networks is just one element that defense must confront because the offense will do
"whatever works." Thus, defense must consider physical, network, human, and acquisition security together.
Dr. Tom Donahue, the CIA’s top cyber security analyst, and one of the industry’s most sought after speakers on the threats to
government and business of cyber security violations weaves together the fascinating, troubling and potentially devastating
threats that security operations must confront.

Presented by Patrick V. Fiel, public safety adviser for ADT Security Services and a former executive director of school security
for the Washington, D.C. He also retired after 22 years of service in the Army Military Police Corps, where he had special
assignments to the Pentagon, SHAPE/NATO headquarters (Belgium) and the West Point Military Academy. During his time
with ADT, Fiel has conducted more than 100 television, radio, newspaper, and magazine interviews as a public and school
safety expert.
