Last Time Out For <strong>Lyon</strong>...<br />

Fearless Leaders...<br />

One of the best defesnive<br />

teams in the NAIA, the <strong>Scots</strong><br />

held No. 1 Union (Tenn.) to<br />

their second lowest scoring<br />

output of the season. However,<br />

the powerhouse from<br />

Jackson, Tenn., was to much<br />

for the young <strong>Lyon</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

women, 65-52.<br />

Entering the contest, the<br />

Lady Bulldogs were averaging<br />

over 81 points a game, while<br />

the <strong>Scots</strong> were giving up just<br />

above 54 points an outing.<br />

Sophomore guard Christine<br />

Smith stepped up huge in the<br />

game, knocking down all four<br />

three point shots she took,<br />

en route to 13 points. Senior<br />

teammate K.K. Hodges continued<br />

her push to become the<br />

schools scoring leader, adding<br />

13 of her own, and pulling<br />

down seven rebounds.<br />

With nine to go in the first<br />

half, the <strong>Scots</strong> put together a<br />

run to cut the Union lead to<br />

just three late in the half.<br />

Tracy Stewart-Lange (<strong>Lyon</strong> <strong>College</strong>, ‘86) (81-87)<br />

Lange is in her sixth season as the head women’s<br />

basketball coach for the <strong>Scots</strong> (Pipers). Before taking<br />

over for her hometown school, Lange served in several<br />

head and assistant coaching positions, including head<br />

coach at Arkansas-Little Rock, and assistant positions at<br />

Missouri-Kansas City and Texas A&M.<br />

As a player, Lange came to <strong>Lyon</strong> by way of Arkansas<br />

State-Beebe. She led her Pipers squad as a guard,<br />

receiving all-conference and district honors.<br />

Jamy Bechler (Hiram <strong>College</strong>) (9-4)<br />

Bechler is in his first season as the head coach<br />

at MMC. Before taking over the Redhawks program,<br />

Bechler was the head coach at Bryan <strong>College</strong> (Tenn.).<br />

While at Brian <strong>College</strong>, he led is program to national<br />

prominence.<br />

Coach Bechler has 14 years of collegiate coaching<br />

experience, including 8 as a head women’s coach<br />

at Bryan <strong>College</strong>, Tennessee Temple University and<br />

LeTourneau University.<br />

Last Time Out For Martin...<br />

Leading The <strong>Scots</strong> and RedHawks...<br />

The Martin Methodist <strong>College</strong><br />

women had no problem<br />

Thursday night dismantling a<br />

struggling Mid-Continent (Ky.)<br />

team, 97-70.<br />

Two RedHawks players<br />

pulled off double-doubles<br />

in the victory, including Vee<br />

Young with 23 points and 12<br />

boards in just 24 minutes of<br />

play, and Jewell Kinlaw had<br />

15 points and a game<br />

high 14 rebounds.<br />

Conference assists<br />

Christopher finished<br />

two assits shy of<br />

a double-double,<br />

dishing out eight in the victory,<br />

while finishing with 10 points<br />

and four steals.<br />

The RiverHawks dropped<br />

58 points in the second half<br />

against the Lady Cougars.<br />

It was really a tale of two<br />

halves from the field, as the<br />

RiverHawks shot 53.5-percent<br />

in the second half to just<br />

30-percent in the first.<br />
