Last Time Out For Lyon...
Fearless Leaders...
One of the best defesnive
teams in the NAIA, the Scots
held No. 1 Union (Tenn.) to
their second lowest scoring
output of the season. However,
the powerhouse from
Jackson, Tenn., was to much
for the young Lyon College
women, 65-52.
Entering the contest, the
Lady Bulldogs were averaging
over 81 points a game, while
the Scots were giving up just
above 54 points an outing.
Sophomore guard Christine
Smith stepped up huge in the
game, knocking down all four
three point shots she took,
en route to 13 points. Senior
teammate K.K. Hodges continued
her push to become the
schools scoring leader, adding
13 of her own, and pulling
down seven rebounds.
With nine to go in the first
half, the Scots put together a
run to cut the Union lead to
just three late in the half.
Tracy Stewart-Lange (Lyon College, ‘86) (81-87)
Lange is in her sixth season as the head women’s
basketball coach for the Scots (Pipers). Before taking
over for her hometown school, Lange served in several
head and assistant coaching positions, including head
coach at Arkansas-Little Rock, and assistant positions at
Missouri-Kansas City and Texas A&M.
As a player, Lange came to Lyon by way of Arkansas
State-Beebe. She led her Pipers squad as a guard,
receiving all-conference and district honors.
Jamy Bechler (Hiram College) (9-4)
Bechler is in his first season as the head coach
at MMC. Before taking over the Redhawks program,
Bechler was the head coach at Bryan College (Tenn.).
While at Brian College, he led is program to national
prominence.
Coach Bechler has 14 years of collegiate coaching
experience, including 8 as a head women’s coach
at Bryan College, Tennessee Temple University and
LeTourneau University.
Last Time Out For Martin...
Leading The Scots and RedHawks...
The Martin Methodist College
women had no problem
Thursday night dismantling a
struggling Mid-Continent (Ky.)
team, 97-70.
Two RedHawks players
pulled off double-doubles
in the victory, including Vee
Young with 23 points and 12
boards in just 24 minutes of
play, and Jewell Kinlaw had
15 points and a game
high 14 rebounds.
Conference assists
leader Jessy
Christopher finished
two assits shy of
a double-double,
dishing out eight in the victory,
while finishing with 10 points
and four steals.
The RiverHawks dropped
58 points in the second half
against the Lady Cougars.
It was really a tale of two
halves from the field, as the
RiverHawks shot 53.5-percent
in the second half to just
30-percent in the first.
