the bus to find foreclosures
BY TIFFANY L. PARKS
OBSERVER STAFF WRITER
Added Value Realty will
extend its foreclosure bus
tours to home buyers starting
May 17-
The Livonia-based company
began doing tours for
investors a year ago and is
n6w branching off into those
wanting to make a foreclosed
property their new home.
"Unfortunately, some people
are getting bad information
so we are trying to help
them do it right," said Realtor
Mandy Melone. "When I
was talking to one (potential
homebuyer) about preapproval,
she said 'What's that'
and I said she definitely had
to come. We are going to talk
about everything."
The tour is expected to
include about 10 foreclosed
properties in Canton and
Plymouth.
Standing outside a twostory,
bank-owned property
on the corner of Morrison
and Keystone in Canton,
Melone said the home is
priced at about $140,000.
"That's too much money for
an investor, but it's perfect
for a homeowner and there
are so many homes out there
just like this," she said.
In a departure from the
two-day bus tours offered
to investors last year, the
home owner version will run
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In
addition to having a home
inspector along for the tour,
participants will learn about
financing programs.
"There are so many pro-
homes, including this home in Canton.
grams out there that can help
people," Melone said. "I just
hate to see people pay more
than they have to,"
Melone said in order to
attend the tour, which is free
and includes lunch, participants
must be preapproved
for financing.
"We will never see a market
like this again, I hope, so
we are trying to help people
get a good deal," she said.
